I Hate absolutely hate performing in front of people!!!!

My parents are so stupid

They wanted us all to sing a song, and I did. The way I sing is so that my voice is overshadowed by the others so it adds a small pleasent change to the song.

So my parents a summed tat I was being defiant and not singing be cause I was being "pridfull and trying to prove a selfish point"

Literally those exact words

Dad: I've heard you sing, your voice is beautiful! So stop being so pridfull and trying to prove a selfish point and just sing nicely!

What I wanted to say: idiot, I know how I sound. I suck at singing. So shut up and accept that I'm shy. I can only sing loudly with music up to full volume in my ears, so I can't hear myself.

What I said: I don't like performing in front of peopl-

Dad: don't play this game with me, I'm not stupid. Your just being a rebellious teenager. I was a teenager, I know how you think!

What I wanted to say: WHAT GAME?!? IM NOT TRYING TO PLAY A FREAKING GAME STUPID!!! AND YOU WERE A TEENAGER 30 YEARS AGO!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GOES THROUGH MY MIND!!!

What I said: I can only sing when I can't hear myself! when I have earbuds in and music at full volume!

dad: Fine, your grounded. If you can't be nice and sing with the family, then go to bed.

I don't get why they keep lying to me. I know my voice is horrible, and it makes me feel even worse when they try to convince me otherwise...... Sigh.....
