For as long as man existed Allah has made marriage the bond of love between man and woman. History teaches us that Allah at the beginning of creation established the institution of marriage. This is evident from marriage of the Prophet Adam (AS), to his wife Hawa (AS). This was a clear indication that any hope of a love filled, meaningful and lawful relationship will only stem from a marriage.

From the inception of Mankind, Allah prescribed the forming of marital unions in order to benefit ones faith, the family, the society, and the love and companionship of the married couple.

Falling in love is an intrinsic part of human nature and needs the perfect circumstances to nurture and grow. Many elements and factors contribute to this harmonious relationship. Of the most important elements for love to bloom in the relationship in which it is born, is if this relationship is one that stems from marriage which grounds for love are almost perfect.

Marriage is a sacred bond between a man and woman, which makes each other permissible for them to enjoy and live happily. Allah has described, in the most moving and eloquent terms that this eternal, natural relationship between man and woman, is filled with security, love, understanding and compassion. “And among His signs is this that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your hearts: Verily in that are signs for those who reflect.” (Quran 30:21)

Here are a few things that best grow love in a marriage:
• Build trust with each other. When you agree to do something, follow through and complete it. Completing your commitments builds a sense of self-worth. Make only the promises you intend to keep.
• Communication: Communicate under all circumstances never break this down. Talk, and listen to each other. There is a saying that as we have two ears and one mouth, we need to listen twice as much as we talk. Discuss issues that show up, being kind with each other, and open to another's point of view.
• Be generous towards each other. Be willing to give — and receive. Let go of hurts or resentment with forgiveness. Forgive your own shortcomings. Be compassionate with yourself, and more so your loved one.
• Value each other. Grow the value of yourself as well as that of your spouse. Appreciate your spouse, and your marriage. Acknowledge the accomplishments you each make. To appreciate means both to be grateful, and to increase value. Express appreciation for the gift of your beloved.
• Value each other as the first day you saw each other. In this way you will always find more to love in your spouse. Laugh, play, touch and keep your love alive. Keep the spark bright. As evolving beings, we never stay the same. The journey of marriage is an adventure. Don’t be afraid to explore and discover each other every day.
