Owen Grady

That was something you had never thought you would become - however, whatever that was up there, had thought different. Perhaps it was karma, that had finally come back and to bite your ass?
But why? You had asked yourself many times, but no answers had come to you. You parents had been supportive, they had done everything in their power to help you and you were thankful for that. Without them, you had no idea what would have happened to you.
It all had been because of a small mistake. Just one action that had sent your whole life upside down. However, you supposed that you had been somewhat lucky - as your fellow soldiers had gotten other disorders. Some had even been killed by the blow.
You mother and father had often asked you what had happened, but neither of them had managed to get it out of you. Deep down you knew that they only wanted to help, but you knew that they never would understand what you had gone through.
They knew perfectly that, but to see their daughter on the edge of the cliff - that lead to the darkness below it, had made them terrified that you would never step back and face them.
However, you had been assigned to a theme park after two years at home. Trying to find yourself, and with the help of your parents and friends - they had managed to pull you away from the cliff.
It had been the Sergeant Major that had sent you the letter that you had been assigned to the theme park, why you had no idea. Your parents had been somewhat sceptical at first, but soon found out if that would help you even further - so be it.

It had been three weeks since you had arrived at the island, found your place within the ranks of the workers of the theme park. Some had even questioned your reason to be there, however, they had not expected to hear grunts coming their way.
They had soon understood that you were mute, but not by choice. Or who chose to be mute? No one, that you knew perfectly.
You had meat Claire Dearing, whom had been more than kind towards you. She helped you through the days, and you were more than thankful for that. The redheaded woman had soon after two weeks, told you that you had been assigned to help a man that went by the name Owen Grady.
She had informed you that he was a former Navy soldier, you had only raised one eyebrow at her. Her pale cheeks had heated up, somehow she had expected you to become impressed by that? You only gave her a smile, uttered a noise and that seemed to relax Claire.
"Alright - so you'll be helping him out with paperwork and other things," Claire said, however, she soon spun around on her heels and pointed a finger at you. Her brown eyes narrowed, you blinked at her confusedly.
What? You tilted your head to the side.
Claire sighed, took a deep breath and closed her eyes. After what seemed like minutes, she opened her eyes once again. Her brown eyes had softened somewhat, but still you saw clear the hardness within them.
"Don't let him overrun you, understood? He tried that with Barry, and the new workers." You blinked, nodded and Claire spun around once again. You had no idea how she did that, but you had at first been afraid that she would break her ankle in those high heels. From the unexpected movements she made, however, you soon understood that you had no reason to fear for something like that.
"Here you have everything you need to know about your job," Claire handed you a folder, light brown colored that inside were filled with papers. You uttered a snort, Claire glanced towards you with a raised eyebrow. You shook your head slowly, kept your attention focused on the words that was written on the front.
the Raptor Paddock - under Owen Grady
You blinked and bit down at your lower lip, glanced up towards the redheaded woman that stood in front of you. However, she had started to walk again. You sprinted after her, and soon slowed down after you had gained the growing distance between the two of you.
"I'm sure that you'll find yourself welcome here," you uttered nothing at that, as she showed you the basic of the Main Street. However, you did not listen to anything that came from Claire's mouth. The only thing that stood in your head, was the word: raptors.
Where you supposed to be working with raptors? How would that go - you took a deep breath, blinked and soon found yourself seated inside a car. Claire drove towards the paddock you were assigned to - one week later, everything would change for you.
However, you did not know that.

"(Y/N)!" You lifted your head at the sound of your name, grunted out in an answer and heard the said person roar with laughter. Owen wrapped an arm around your shoulders, grinned towards you and looked ever so smug. You, however, only raised an eyebrow at the former Navy soldier.
What do you want? You had written that down at the front paper that you had been working on, Owen's green eyes fell on the paper and took a deep breath. Even though you two had been serving the United States underneath the Army or the Navy, the two of you had learned different things along the way.
It had come in handy, you knew that. As Owen had told you stories about the days in the Navy, you had only nodded and listen to him. Afterwards it had been your turn, and Owen had been sweeter than you had expected him to be.
"You've been here for a week, (Y/N) and I thought that ... perhaps -" Owen stopped himself, you lowered the papers and pen. Tilted your head to the side and waited for him to continue, however, nothing came.
Underneath the metal bridge the two of you stood on, four overgrown lizards soon turned their attention towards the two of you. The female one that stood in the middle, blue markings on each side of her sides - stepped slightly forward and tilted her head. The others copied her movements, but did not step in front of her.
They lingered behind the blue marked female raptor.
"Perhaps you would met the girls?" Owen questioned, with that you raised one eyebrow and turned your attention towards the raptors underneath. They stood still, not even blinking it seemed. All eyes were focused on Owen, you thought. Unknown to the both of you and Owen, the raptors had taken the gesture Owen had wrapped around you as something else.
Claimed his territory.
Met them? Haven't I already met them? Your pen flew over the paper, Owen glanced down and swallowed once again. Something in his eyes showed that he was bothered by something, but you pushed those worries away. The former Navy soldier stepped slightly backwards, but did not take his grip off you - his arm seemed to tightened its hold around your shoulders.
At that time you wished that you had a voice, as you could just take him by surprise and ask him whatever that went through his mind - he needed to tell you.
Instead you sent your elbow into his side, Owen's eyes widen and closed. Winced and breathed out, huffed and cursed under his breath - but soon a grin found its place around his lips. You truly started to wonder what was going on with this man. He had started to act weird, and you had not known him longer than seven days.
You had been there twenty-one days, but between those days you had only known Owen for seven days. And that was not much to talk about, however, you felt even closer to him than you did to any other people in the theme park. You had become good friends with Claire, after you had managed to make her laugh at something you had done - unknown to you.
"I mean ... It seems that they have taken a liking to you," Owen said, and stopped. You raised one eyebrow at that, whatever that went through his mind was indeed bothering him. "And they use sounds -" the moment Owen said that, your eyes widen and poor Owen's face paled. He stepped backwards, shook his head to the side in a rapid movement.
"No - no - no! I didn't mean it like that - it's just that ... shit!" You looked at him, frozen to the spot you stood. His cheeks soon flared with heat, as Owen huffed out and took a deep breath. The poor man looked even more uncomfortable than before, and it did not help as the sound of the papers fell against the metal bridge.
Clank!
The pen had also fallen towards the floor, however, it did not stay on one place. It rolled over the edge, and landed inside the exhibit of the raptors. But neither of the raptors seemed to mind that small object, as the female raptor in the front took another step forward. The others followed after.
Everything seemed to stop. Time had perhaps stopped around the six of you - Owen looked ready to dig himself into a hole, you had no idea how to react. The raptors looked impatient about something, the lead raptor made a low sound in her chest - the three others copied her.
But they soon stopped as Owen sent one look at them. Everything seemed out of place, but still it felt ... normal.
You took a deep breath, scanned through your mind and snorted out. Owen's attention snapped towards you, a hand had placed itself over your mouth and you tried to keep the noises quiet. Even though you knew perfectly that you could laugh, it only sounded weird in your ears.
You turned your body away, your whole body shaken from the laughter that wanted to escape you. Tears filled your eyes, and as you blinked they ran down your cheeks. It had been forever since you had laughed, however, Owen looked even paler. As he thought he had you crying, but soon his face showed utter confusion.
"(Y/N)?" You took a deep breath, but snorted out once again. Owen's green eyes widened, a grin covered his mouth and took three steps in your direction. Wrapped his arms around you, pressed your against him and lowered his face against your neck. You gasped, snorted and swallowed. Tried to dry the tears, but Owen had wrapped his arms around your whole upper body.
"Your laugh it beautiful, (Y/N)." Owen mumbled against your neck, as those words reached your ears - your body froze. Never had anyone claimed that your laugh had been beautiful, not even when you could laugh freely. It made your whole body warm, as more hot tears formed themselves in your eyes.
A hiccup escaped your throat, you bit down at your lower lip and tried to control your emotion. However, Owen may have felt the way your body had frozen with those words.
The raptors soon chipped into the air, Blue lowered herself to the ground and upwards. Up and down, you had no idea what that was supposed to mean - but as Owen had pulled himself away and placed his hands on each side of your face. His green eyes locked themselves into your own (E/C) eyes.
"You're beautiful - and you don't need a voice to make me see that, (Y/N)." Owen mumbled, as he leaned forward and placed his forehead against your own forehead. You wrapped your hand around his hand, hiccuped once again and snorted.
"I'm here for you, no matter what - and so is the girls." With that you closed your eyes, pressed your forehead harder against his own - Owen wrapped his free arm around your waist. The two of you stood like this, for how long you had no idea.
But perhaps it had only been a few seconds or minutes, before a French filled accent filled the air around the paddock. He cried for the both of you, as Owen grunted and mumbled something under his breath - you only sighed and rolled your eyes at him.
"(Y/N) - Owen!"
