Kol Mikealson

Are you sure you want to do this?" Stefan asked you, holding your arm firmly. "These could just be rumors. Or maybe just a way to get you here."

You pulled your arm out of Stefan's grip. "I don't know, Stefan. It's worth a try though. Kol could be through those doors, or he might not. But I'm not going to stand out here and not find out just because I don't want to be disappointed."
Stefan nodded as he walked with you passed the gate to the Mikaelson's new home.

There was no denying the giddiness you felt. Your boyfriend – or ex-boyfriend – could be just a few feet from you right now and the only thing stopping you from running into the building was being in the presence of Stefan.

Kol, the man you're in love with, was killed by one of your friends a few years ago. Both you and Kol had very strong feelings for each other in that stage of your life so when he was killed you were shattered, your heart couldn't take the pain of losing your loved one.

This led your friendship with Elena to thin, you not trusting her anymore.
But now the possibility of seeing the man you loved again just overwhelmed you. The feeling you felt was indescribable. But you couldn't stop your mind from wondering that if he was alive why he didn't go straight to Mystic Falls to tell you the good news.

The first thing you saw when you walked through the gate was the three Mikaelson brothers arguing with one another. Around them stood three woman – one you noticed as Hayley, Tyler's werewolf friend, a lady with dirty blonde hair and a younger girl with brown hair.

"Klaus, brother, just calm down."

His voice brought butterflies to your stomach. After not hearing it for so long, you didn't think that it would still affect you the way that it did.

"Calm down? How dare you tell me to calm down?" Klaus barked back, almost about to leap at Kol. But he stopped what he was doing when his eyes landed on you and Stefan.

Everyone turned to the both of you, wondering what was so distracting that made Klaus stop what he was doing.

You could see the surprise evident on Kol's face. It didn't look much like a good surprise, but you hoped that it wasn't a bad surprise either. Unintentionally, not even realizing it in fact, you walked over to Kol and put both your hands on either side of his face.

"Kol," You whispered, feeling so relieved to see the man you loved breathing.

Kol stood rigid under your touch. Partly enjoying the familiar feeling but also because he didn't quite know what to do.

"Excuse me, but who are you?"

You turned your head to look at the brown haired girl. Her eyebrows were arched, as she stood with her hands on her hips and her eyes shot daggers at you.

Quickly, Kol removed your hands from his face and walked away. You felt your heart break a million times more as you watched Kol.

You looked at the girl, trying to show that you weren't at all hurt by what Kol just did. "I'm (Y/N)."

The girl then glared at you once more before she followed after Kol. Confused, you looked at the Mikaelson brothers for an answer.

Elijah stared at you with apologetic eyes before he answered your internal burning question. "That's Davina. She's, uh, Kol's girlfriend."

If you weren't already so broken, you were sure that you'd be crumbling to pieces.

Davina seemed nice. Okay, no, you were lying. Putting aside the fact that she is dating the man you love – you didn't like her and you didn't know why. She was pretty, she was powerful and she was badass but every time you saw or thought of her you felt your blood boil.

Okay, maybe it was the fact that she was dating Kol that bothered you.

You couldn't help it though. It seemed like they were lost souls that found their way to one another and you were jealous of that. You were jealous of what they had because whatever it is that they had you and Kol never shared it.

Even though you wanted to leave New Orleans and hide away in Mystic Falls, Klaus persuaded you and Stefan to stay for a little while longer. You mainly concealed in the hotel room that you and Stefan were staying at, too embarrassed to see any of the Mikaelsons.

Stefan though, on a few occasions, tried to take you out of the hotel and get you to enjoy the wonders that New Orleans had to offer. But you declined each time, hiding behind your heartbreak.

Elijah and Klaus came to see you a few times too. Elijah visited to apologize for what he felt that his brother did wrong. And Klaus visited just because he wanted to, never mentioning his brother's foul name.

You felt different today. It was like this force was urging you to visit the Mikaelsons with Stefan today and you weren't going to deny that force.

"Ah, I see that you have decided to join us today," Klaus said when he saw you walking towards him with Stefan. "I take it that you've found some self-respect and that you are now over my brother?"

You rolled your eyes and shook your head at Klaus' comment. "Don't make me regret coming here. Or I will find my way back to Mystic Falls this instant."

Klaus chuckled and then held his hands up in surrender. "I'm not the one that you should be worried about, love."

Just then Kol walked into the room. At first he didn't notice you, as he had his eyes focused on an object that was in his hand, but then when he noticed the awkward tension in the room he looked up to see what was going on. Once his eyes met yours, it was like if either of you tore your eyes from the other you would both be doomed.

But you came to your senses after a while and immediately left the room feeling like an idiot. It didn't take Kol long to follow you though and eventually you were trapped in a corner and your only exit would be going through him.

"Just go away, Kol. I've had enough of this."

"Just hear me out, darling. I never intended on hurting you I swear –"

"I don't really care what your intentions were. How do you think I felt when you died? I cried and cried and cried until there were no tears left to cry with. I stopped speaking to Jeremy and my friendships are really rocky. Okay? I suffered, hoping that by some miracle you'd be back in my life once again and things could go back to the way they were. But that was not the case."

You could see that with each word you said, more and more sadness and hurt was evident on Kol's face. That didn't stop you though. You were way too angry with him.

"You did come back from the dead! But you didn't come after me to tell me. You didn't come to see how I'm doing. Hell, how am I even supposed to know that you remembered me?"

"(Y/N), just listen –"

"No. Shut up, Kol. I travelled all the way from Virginia to see whether it was true or not. It was a long shot but I jumped at the opportunity anyway, hoping to once again see your face or hear your voice. But all that I'm met with is your way beyond rude girlfriend and you leaving me embarrassed in front of your family. Do you even know how humiliated I felt?"

"I am really sorry, (Y/N). And I want to explain everything to you, but you aren't giving me a chance to."

You shook your head in disbelief. "Why should I even let you explain anything? How am I supposed to know that you won't be lying to me?"

Kol walked towards you, a serious expression now evident on his face. "Have I ever lied to you?"

You rolled your eyes but then shook your head. He did have a point, so you kept quiet and beckoned for him to start with his explanation.

"My crazy mother body jumped me into another witches body last year. It was all part of her plan to 'reunite our family'. In order for her not to kill me I had to do what she said, which meant getting close to Davina."

You flinched when you heard him say her name.

"Somewhere along the line I actually stared to like her. She seemed like the only genuine person to be around. Then I died again – Finn hexed me. But Davina – she tried everything that she could to bring me back and eventually she succeeded."

Kol took your hands in his own and stared at you with such a deep intensity.

"If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be alive right now, but I need you to know that I broke up with her. I am not going to lie and say that I didn't like her – because the truth is that I did. But when I saw you after all this time there was this fire that ignited inside of me and there's no possible way to distinguish it."

You didn't want to look away nor did you want Kol to stop holding your hands. But you also wanted to take a stand for yourself. This was no way to treat a person.

"What?" You questioned as you dropped his gaze and his hands. "Do you just expect me to come running back to you with open arms?"

Kol looked speechless for a while, but then his lips formed a smile. "How about we just start over," He said and then extended his hand over to you. "Hi. I'm Kol, Klaus' psychotic brother. And what might your name be?"

He waited for you to accept his hand, the smile still lingering on his lips. After a minute or so you accepted it, a small smile forming on your own lips. "I'm (Y/N)."
