Arthur leaned against his balcony when a whoosh caught his attention. The blonde looked over his shoulder and saw Black Cat. The hero smiled at him.
"Hey there Arthur."
"Hi." He hummed. He had come to grow close to the hero in his civilian life, not just hero life.
They stayed on the balcony and looked out into the city, Arthur having a small frown grow on his face.
He thought back to when Natalya tripped him, making him fall into Alfred's arms and drop his stuff on top of the blond, which hurt his foot.
"What's wrong Artie?" The hero asked. "Cat got your tongue?" He snickered.
Arthur just hummed again. The cat-themed hero frowned and scooted closer to him.
"No really, what's wrong?"
"I'm an embarrassment!" Arthur shouted, throwing his hands up in the air. "I can't even tell the guy I like that I like him because he might not even be gay!"
Alfred's eyes widened. Arthur liked someone? Who?
"If it's me I gladly accept." He joked.
Arthur gave him a look. "Not a time for jokes, Kitten." He mumbled. That was the nickname he used for him in civilian life, while in their hero form he called him Cat.
Alfred frowned. Wow, Arthur must really like this guy.
"You must really like him if you're all worried and stuff." The hero smiled.
"That's not the worse part, I'm starting to like another guy too." Arthur pouted. "Why is love complicated?" He sighed, leaning against the hero.
"Who are these dudes?" He asked curiously.
"Promise to keep it a secret?" Arthur teased.
"On my bell." Alfred winked, ringing it.
"Well, the one I think I'm starting to like is Alejandro Guerrero. He's new to my school and he's really nice. He, um, has a few classes with me and is always trying to get my attention. H-He's...aesthetically pleasing to look at too I guess." Arthur blushed and looked anywhere but the cat.
Alfred nodded, but he felt slightly jealous. What does Alejandro have that Black Cat doesn't?!
"And the one I've liked for a while is-"
"Arthur! Dinner's ready!" Francis, one of his fathers, called for him. Arthur looked at his entry to the balcony and bit his lip, then looked back at Black Cat.
"Uh, if I don't go they'll come for me." He mumbled.
Alfred frowned, feeling sad he didn't know the person he liked first.
"Oh, I understand." He smiled. "Go have dinner with your family."
"Um, Kitten, you don't think it's strange for me to like two people at the same time right?" Arthur asked quietly.
Alfred looked at Arthur with a serious face. "Absolutely not."
"Okay, thanks. Bye Kitten, go save the world." Arthur smiled and hugged the hero, maybe a little longer than necessary, before going to eat dinner with his family.
---
Alfred walked around the school with his best friend Antonio as he spotted Arthur and Lovino. He waved at them, but the didn't wave back. He frowned and looked at their line of view, seeing Alejandro.
"Alejandro is getting all the attention," Antonio whined. "I was trying to talk to Lovino earlier and he didn't pay attention to me, looking around for Alejandro instead."
"How do you know he wasn't looking for Arthur?" Alfred asked.
"Because Arthur was next to him."
"Didn't he say he was going to ask him if he was a fan of LadyBeetle? And Black Cat?"
"He did...maybe that's why! It's not because I'm losing him!" Antonio smiled, excitedly jumping up and down.
'That makes one of us, buddy.' Alfred thought with a frown as he saw Lovino nudge Arthur and point to the new student, making said blonde form a blush.
---
In the science classroom, the chatter among students was superb. Arthur and Lovino talked about the last akuma attack from the week before. It was a little boy who Arthur babysat, Peter, who got akumatized. Arthur was devastated when he 'found out' who it was.
"I never thought it'd affect little kids." He said sadly.
"I know. They shouldn't have to be affected by this. Whoever this 'Moth Magician' is, he really needs to rethink his life choices." Lovino nodded.
"I agree. He's got a bad rep already." Antonio butted into the conversation, dragging Alfred with him. Arthur just nodded, biting his lip, not really noticing when the teacher called the class into order.
"We will be having you pair up for science projects! Antonio and Lovino, Feliciano and Ludwig, Alfred and Arthur, Kat and Natalya, Alejandro and..."
Arthur zoned off. Him. And Alfred. Partners. What?!
Alfred and Lovino switched seats and Alfred gave Arthur a smile. "We can work on the project later today if we both don't have anything going on that is."
"I'm free." Arthur managed to say without stuttering.
"Cool. So wait for me after school?"
"Sure."
---
Arthur looked at Alejandro with a small blush. He caught him alone outside of school. He was supposed to wait for Alfred to work on the project, but the other blonde wasn't anywhere to be seen.
"Hello Arthur~," Alejandro smirked.
"H-Hello Alejandro," Arthur mumbled, looking down at his hands.
"Now now Arthur, don't hide your pretty face from me." Alejandro chuckled, lifting Arthur's face with a hand on his cheek.
Arthur squeaked, looking into impossibly golden eyes. It was like he was staring into the heart of El Dorado, the mythical golden city of Latin America.
"I'm still pretty new to this town, how about you show me around?" Alejandro hummed.
"Not-Not today, sorry." Arthur stuttered, backing up a bit. Alejandro followed him.
"Why not?" Alejandro raised an eyebrow. Arthur hoped he didn't hit a wall soon.
"It's-It's because-"
Arthur bumped into something from behind and felt arms wrap around his waist as someone set their head on his shoulder. He jumped and turned slightly, surprised to see-
"A-Alfred?"
"Hey, Arthur! Thanks for waiting for me!" Alfred kissed his cheek, making Arthur squeak, and then turned back to glare at Alejandro, who was still smiling, though it hid malice.
"Do you need something with my Arthur, Alejandro?"
"Oh Arthur, I didn't know you two were dating." Alejandro pouted playfully.
"WHAT?! No we, we aren't-we haven't, I'm not-"
"Yes, we are." Alfred raised an eyebrow.
The two taller males glared at each other, Alfred never loosening his hold.
Arthur felt like dying on the spot.
---
Arthur was standing on his balcony again, hoping for a visit from his cat. He had some tea and cookies that his fathers made and was waiting quietly for him.
No one showed. Arthur had a small frown.
"Maybe he's tired from today's akuma attack," Arthur mumbled aloud, sitting in one of his chairs.
"Nothing will stop me from seeing my favorite civilian." A voice purred. Arthur jumped and looked up, seeing Black Cat. He couldn't help the smile that stretched across his face.
"Hi Kitten."
"Hey Artie."
The hero sat next to him and Arthur immediately leaned on him.
Alfred smiled, but something inside him screamed.
"So, you never told me yesterday who this other man was, the one you liked for a longer time." The hero said casually.
"Can we not talk about that today?" Arthur sighed, looking out into the city.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?"
"Well, kinda," Arthur mumbled. "It's just, I had to work on a project with Alfred today, and I was waiting for him outside of school to meet up with him when Alejandro showed up. He was flirting with me and I got embarrassed and tried to walk away, but I instead bumped into Alfred, who hugged me and kissed my cheek and told Alejandro we were dating even though we're not."
Arthur covered his face with his hands as he revealed what happened to his kitten.
"I was even more embarrassed that I ran off. Then the akuma showed up and I waited for that to be over until I came home and, now I'm here. With you." Arthur smiled at the hero. "I like spending time with you actually. I bet LadyBeetle does too."
Alfred stared at the smaller male, feeling bad he made him uncomfortable but brightened up when he told him about how he liked to spend time with him.
"I do too! LadyBeetle, I'm not so sure."
Arthur frowned. 'Yes I do, you ninny!' "Don't say that. You two are a team, aren't you? Partners-in-solving-crime? Maybe he does, just doesn't express it much."
Alfred leaned on the Brit and hummed. "Good point."
"...Hey, I have a question." Arthur mumbled.
"What is it?"
"Do you like LadyBeetle? As in, like-like him?" Arthur asked. 'Do you like me?'
"Well, yeah! But I find myself liking someone else too."
"You do?"
"Uh huh!"
"So, that's why you told me there was nothing..."
"Nothing wrong with liking two people? It's true! I don't think it's wrong, so neither should you." Alfred snickered as he spoke again. "It's purr-fectly normal to me."
Arthur gave him a smack on the arm as he laughed. "I don't know how LadyBeetle would be able to handle all your puns."
Cat snickered.
"So, you ready now?" Alfred asked.
"Fine you nosy cat. I like the teen model at my school." Arthur huffed.
"What school do you go to?" Alfred smiled.
"Heta International," Arthur responded.
"Alfred F. Jones?!" Alfred gawked.
Him. Arthur liked him. He never thought that'd happen. But it meant his love wasn't one-sided! He could finally-
"I doubt he likes me." Arthur sighed. "I'm sure he only sees me as a friend."
"Don't lose hope so quickly!" Alfred blurted quickly, making Arthur jump and give him a questioning glance. "I mean, have you ever tried asking him out?"
"What if he's not gay? Then I'll have made a fool of myself." Arthur sighed.
"Hm, what if he asks you out?" Alfred quipped. "Say tomorrow he asks you out on a date, would you say yes?"
"I'd probably get intimidated and run off." Arthur groaned.
"Why don't you practice on me! I'll pretend to be Alfred asking you out, and you tell me what you'd tell him." The darker blonde suggested.
"Yeah, okay, I'll do it." Arthur nodded. "Let's practice."
The two faced each other and the cat hero took a deep breath then looked at Arthur's eyes. "Hey Arthur, would you like to go out on a date with me?"
Arthur opened his mouth, then hid his face in his hands.
"Nope nope nope nope can't do it I can't do it I'm a failure I can't do it-"
Alfred took his hands from his face and smiled. "Yes you can, just pretend I'm Alfred."
"That's the worse advice ever!" Arthur whined.
The hero felt a little hurt.
"I'll stutter more if I do that!"
Now he felt better.
"Okay, then pretend Alfred is me. Put cat ears on his head if you ask him out or he asks you out."
Arthur giggled. "Okay, I'll try it."
Alfred cleared his throat again. "Hey Arthur, I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with me." He smiled.
Arthur opened his mouth again, and this time words came out! "I'd really like to, yeah, okay." Then he looked away.
"ARTHUR KIRKLAND-BONNEFOY YOU HAVE SOME EXPLAINING TO DO!" A Scottish voice yelled. The two looked at the door to the balcony and saw Arthur's parents. Alister was the one who yelled.
"N-No! Dad! He was just helping me practice!" Arthur yelped.
The two males gave him a look that said they didn't believe him.
"Explain." Francis frowned.
"Hey! I'm Black Cat, the hero. Artie and I are buddies! He's having some love trouble so I decided to help him out. I practiced being the guy he liked asking him out so he'd know what to say in that situation and just now he was going to practice on me! How about you stay and help me help him?" The hero gave a charming smile.
The two fathers slowly nodded.
"Okay, Arthur, go ahead." Francis motioned.
"Okay." Arthur took a deep breath and faced his Kitten.
"Alfred."
"Yes Arthur?"
"I was just wondering if you would like to go out on a date with me. A...A date-date."
Alfred smiled. "Sure! That sounds like fun. What should we do?"
"And cut." Alister raised an eyebrow. "That's all ya got Arthur? How about yer old man teaches you some good pick up lines?"
"No-"
"Yes!" The cat snickered.
"This line I used on your father that got us our first date!" Alister snickered. "Are you French? Because madamn are you fine."
Francis shook his head. "He thought I was a girl because of my long hair and lack of stubble, so I smacked him, and agreed to go out on the date because he was charming."
Alfred snickered, and Arthur smiled a little.
"And you Papa? Did you use any lines on Dad?" Arthur asked curiously.
"Well yes, and I think you're old enough to hear it." Alister's eyes widened.
"Francis, don't-"
"I have the perfect math equation! You + me - the clothes ÷ the legs = fun times."
Arthur blushed. "No, no Papa, just no."
Meanwhile, the hero was laughing. "That ones good!" He got an idea and looked over to Arthur. "Hey Artie! I have the perfect-"
"No, no no, just no. Not my wee boy." Alister growled and grabbed his son, covering his ears.
"Dad!"
---
This was it, he was going to do it. He had successfully avoided both Alfred and Alejandro the entire day and now it was time to do it. He was going to ask Alfred out.
He already told Lovino of his plans and his friend supported him the entire time. They just had to see until the end of the day.
---
School had ended and Lovino already left, saying he had to take care of his youngest brother while Feliciano went on a date with Ludwig and so the Brit was alone. He noticed Alfred at the same time the darker blonde noticed him. Alfred seemed to brighten up and he said something to Antonio quickly before running over to the Brit.
"Hey Arthur! I wanted to talk to you about something!" Alfred smiled.
"O-Oh, really? What is it?" Arthur asked.
"The-uh, project? We need to work on it." Alfred rubbed the back of his head. Arthur felt his mood droop slightly but he smiled nonetheless.
"Oh right." He chuckled. "You can come over to my place if you want. I don't think my parents would mind since I bring friends over all the time."
Black Cat obviously counts as a friend, Arthur thought with a soft smile gracing his lips. Alfred stared, not sure how to interpret the smile.
'Why does it look familiar?'
"S-Sure." Alfred nodded.
"Do you want to go now or do you have things to do?" Arthur asked.
"Actually, I do have a quick photo shoot, but we can head to your house after. It's at the park." Alfred said.
"That's fine. We can head there now. I'll just find something else to do." Arthur nodded.
"Okay!"
They reached the park in no time and Alfred had to change into something he had to model in a truck they brought holding the clothes. Arthur sat on the benches and started his homework for other classes. He heard a small giggle and Arthur hushed the kwami.
"Matt, we're in the park! Someone can see you!" Arthur shushed.
"I know, but I think it's wonderful you're finally getting somewhere with Alfred! No more moping!"
"I don't 'mope'," Arthur mumbled.
Time passed and Arthur was soon glaring at his maths equations.
"If the right triangle has an angle of 30° and an angle of 60°, then that means the hypotenuse is 2 times the value of y. And if the hypotenuse is 982 meters, then y must be..." Arthur hummed as he thought about it. "Oh! That means y=491 meters. So x is 491√3."
"You're good at this."
Arthur jumped, quite literally shrieking. He looked behind him and saw Alejandro.
"Alejandro?"
"Hello Arthur!"
"What are you doing here?"
"Oh I was strolling and I saw you here alone, so I thought I'd strike up a conversation."
Arthur looked at him for a few seconds. "Okay then. I was waiting for Alfred to finish a photo shoot so we could head to my house. I live close to here."
Arthur looked over at Alfred, who turned to look at him. Alfred smiled and waved, and Arthur waved back.
"That's cool." Alejandro sat next to the Brit, blocking his view of Alfred completely (Alfred frowned and glared at him, but the Brit couldn't see that) and smiled, taking one of the Brit's hands in both of his. "Arthur, I've been meaning to ask you something."
"W-What is it?" Arthur stuttered, a blush appearing on his face.
"Well, I wanted to know if you'd be interested in going on a da-"
"Arthur!" A new voice said. Arthur looked up at Dylan, a brunette in most of his classes who was great friends with him even after he was akumatised and sorta kidnapped him-long story-to go to his birthday party.
"Hi Dylan." The Brit smiled.
"I never apologized for that day last month when I was akumatized. I realize I should have sooner so I drew you this as an apology." Arthur looked at the drawing in awe.
"This is amazing! Thank you, Dylan!"
It was a drawing of him sitting, leaning on a tree and a book on his lap. He was in the shade of the tree and looking off at something not seen in the drawing, a soft smile playing at his lips. It was colored and everything, making it look so much more vivid. If he hadn't looked so close to see the pencil markings, he would have guessed it was a picture. Dylan signed it on the bottom and put the date he created it.
"I uh, I also had a question for you."
Arthur looked at Dylan, then Alejandro.
"Um..."
"Hey Arthur, sorry for the wait. I finished so we can head to your place now." Alfred appeared with a smile that looked tense.
Arthur looked between the three guys. "Is something wrong?" He asked, with a frown.
"Why do you say that?" Alejandro asked, but the smile on his face also looked tense.
"You all look very...tense. Did something happen between you three?"
"Oh it was a week ago, we've resolved it now though." Alfred waved it off. The other two nodded.
"Right. Well, I think I'll just...go home. Let's go Alfred."
His parents were embarrassing, that's all he has to say about that experience.
---
Arthur was in his LadyBeetle transformation, walking around his city with a frown. He and Alfred had gotten a lot of the project done in that one day, but it felt odd between them. Arthur sighed and jumped down from atop a building to walk through Alfred's rich people neighborhood.
"'Arthur, I like you!' No no that's stupid, I can't just go on and tell him boldly, he'll shriek and run away." He heard a sigh.
Arthur looked up and saw Alfred pacing in his room, his window wide open.
"'Arthur Kirkland-Bonnefoy, I am completely and utterly in love with-', no, no no no. He's going to pass out or something." Alfred groaned and looked out his window. Arthur had a blush on his face and decided to drop in for a visit. Using his yo-yo, he got to the window and sat on it.
He showed up in front of Alfred as the blond was going to walk towards the window and smiled. "Hello."
Alfred shrieked and fell back, making Arthur giggle. "Sorry about that. Um, I couldn't help but hear your 'confession' as I patrolled and got a bit curious. So you like a dude?"
"Uh, yeah, I do." Alfred nodded.
"So what are you waiting for?" Arthur raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
Arthur leaned on the side of the window and winked. "If you really like this person, you should tell them. Black Cat does it to me all the time." Arthur had a soft smile on his face. "That cat, always doing something. So I recommend you get his confidence and ask out this 'Arthur Kirkland-Bonnefoy'...that name sounds familiar. I think he's the one taken by Evillustrator. Cat would know."
Alfred looked at the hero. "Do you like him back? Would you date him?"
"Well, if it was another situation, yes I might date him. But we have sworn to never reveal our identities to anyone or each other. So if I could, I would tell him who I was-no I'm not telling you-and that way we can date in our superhero side and normal side."
Alfred stared at the hero awed. "So-"
"But back to you. You like this 'Arthur' right?"
"I, yeah. I do. He's really great and he's nice and I swear sometimes I think he's an angel put on Earth just to bring light to it and if he beat anyone up that person would say thank you to him and-" Alfred rambled on about all the things he liked about Arthur.
He's cute, he's a klutz but a cute one, cares for everyone's safety, very nice once you get to know him because when you first meet him he's a bit testy...
"Okay lover-boy slow down. So you like him, and you haven't asked him out yet because...?"
"He has more suitors."
Arthur raised an eyebrow. "...Explain."
"Well, I'm not the only one who likes him."
"And how do you know he doesn't like you back? Have you tried asking him?"
"I tried, but I got nervous and asked him if he wanted to work on our project."
'He was going to ask me out?!' Arthur squealed in his mind, but instead gave him a soft smile.
"Use Black Cat confidence! Maybe he likes you back. You'd never know if you don't try."
"Yeah. Okay. I'll try to ask him out." Alfred nodded.
"Good luck. Well, I have to go patrol. Bye."
Arthur jumped out the window and onto the building across the street, using the yo-yo to get farther faster so the blonde couldn't see his blush.
---
Arthur laughed at something Lovino said and pushed him lightly. "You're such a dork." He told the Italian affectionately.
"I love you too, boo." The shorter winked flirtatiously and blew him a kiss.
The two were walking to Arthur's place to finish homework together. All thoughts of Alfred, Black Cat, and everyone else left his mind. Lovino was awesome like that.
Arthur rolled his eyes and wrapped an arm around the Italian's shoulders. "I know."
"Hey Arthur." A voice made the two friends jump. Arthur looked over his shoulder and saw Alfred smiling at him.
"Oh, hi Alfred." He smiled back and waved a bit.
He suddenly remembered the conversation they had last night (with him as LadyBeetle) and snapped his fingers. "Oh, I forgot to ask you if we were coming over again today to work on the project."
"YEAH!" Alfred's voice squeaked, making the smaller blonde and Italian raise an eyebrow.
"Are you okay? Your face is very red." Alfred cleared his throat and nodded.
"Yes, I am. Uh, I am. Sorry, you two."
"No it's fine, but if you're not feeling well you should go see a doctor." Lovino pointed out.
"It's okay, I already went. I'm fine."
"Well, that's good. Oh, I invited Antonio to work on homework too, if you don't mind. He needs help with the study guide." Lovino told Arthur.
"It's fine."
Antonio caught up with them at the park and the four walked into Arthur's parents' bakery.
"Dad, Papa, I'm home and I brought friends!" Arthur called into the bakery.
"Welcome home mon lapin! Your father and I are making the cake for the Gonzalez family." Francis smiled, a bit of icing on his face. Arthur pointed to it on his own cheek and Francis chuckled. "Thank you. Welcome to our home. Are you taking your friends upstairs?"
"Mhm."
"Well I spot myself a Lovino." A Scottish voice said from above. They looked up the stairs at Alister, who had no shirt on currently and showed off how big he was...and by big, that meant muscle. (The man constantly worked out when he wasn't baking!) Arthur shrunk a little from embarrassment, looking at the shirt in hands as if begging it to come to life and just cover the man already.
"HI FATHER KIRK-FOY!" Lovino waved. The family was close to Lovino since they found out he was less appreciated that his little brothers and basically took him in when he and Arthur were in first grade. Alister was the first really-there father figure Lovino had, and while Francis was also a good father figure, he replaced his mom with the nurturing department.
"Dad, please, you live in a bakery."
"Well guess what, I just got out of a shower." He responded as he put on a shirt.
He came down the stairs and ruffled his two boys' hair. He spotted Alfred and Antonio and raised an eyebrow.
"Hi. Antonio and...Alfred? You came over a few days ago."
"Alfred, and yes, I did." He nodded.
"Hmph. I'll send some cookies up later, have fun dying with a s-t-u." Alister waved them off as he walked into the bakery portion of the home.
"Cookies hell yeah!" Arthur and Lovino high fived and raced up the stairs. Antonio and Alfred followed, just not as excited.
Arthur immediately set up the living room to be a study session haven while Lovino went through the fridge to get drinks.
"Art I'm going to get your speakers from your room."
"Go ahead, you know where they are." Arthur waved him off as he pushed the couches together.
Antonio and Alfred stayed by the door. "So, are we staying here or going to your room?" Alfred asked.
"No one is allowed in my room."
"Lovino just went."
"No one, with the exception of Lovino and my parents, is allowed in my room." Arthur corrected. 'And Kitty, but no one needs to know that.' He thought quickly.
"You guys want anything to drink?" He asked.
"Juice, please." Alfred waved, sitting on the couch.
"A soda." Antonio followed Alfred to the couch.
"You," Lovino answered as he came back with the speaker in his hands.
"Now Lovi, no hitting on me when your boyfriend's in the room." Arthur snickered and winked at him. Lovino huffed.
"It's not my fault you won't take the damn photo down." Lovino pointed at the wall, wherein the midst of picture frames of the four family members, there was one of Zac Effron. The other two looked at it with shock.
"Why is that there?" Antonio asked.
"April Fools prank. My parents never noticed, so it stayed." Arthur shrugged, giving them their drinks. They thanked him and the four started studying.
---
Arthur, Mr. 'I must have perfect grades or I'll kill someone', was helping Lovino with his English, but when that was finished, they all turned to Math, making Arthur groan.
"Can we skip to science?"
"No." Lovino shot him down immediately, a wicked grin on his face.
"...I'm confiscating all your cookies."
"Take them, Papa will make me more." Lovino cackled and got to work on math.
"Fuck you, favorite boy."
"Just get on with it."
Arthur glared at him for a second ('He's cute when he gives people death glares...' Alfred sighed dreamily in his mind as he looked down at his paper) before getting to work. He was at it for two minutes before he stopped.
"No, I'm done. I hate maths, I suck at it. I'm going to finish my part of the science project." Arthur groaned and walked towards his room.
"Artie wait, I love you come back!" Lovino snickered.
"No!"
(He did. They finished their homework and their projects. Alfred no longer has an excuse to go to Arthur's house(Alister finds that a win since he ships his kid with Black Cat)(haha if only he knew))
---
Another akuma. Arthur huffed as he dodged another attack.
"Where the hell is Black Cat?" He hissed to himself, green eyes looking around and searching for the cat-themed hero.
Another dodge. He jumped over a car that was thrown. Poor person...well with his lucky charm he'll fix it so he didn't worry too much.
"You'll never stop me from taking that prize! It was supposed to be mine!" She yelled.
"If it was supposed to be yours, you would have won fair and square." Arthur shook his head.
Beauty Queen. This was her akuma name. In real life, she was Sandra Gillian, and she had lost a beauty pageant against Karla Osborn. It was obvious her crown was what got her akumatized.
"My Bug is right. But then again, he's purr-fect." A familiar voiced said. Arthur looked over to his left and smiled.
"Hey Cat."
"Bug-a-boo." He winked, deflecting a 'Sash-mare' with his staff. Was that supposed to be nightmare?
"The akuma is in her crown!" He warned.
"Alright, how are we going to get it?" The cat asked.
Arthur bit his lip. He hadn't used his lucky charm yet but now didn't seem like the best moment.
"We could try knocking it-"
"LADYBEETLE LOOK OUT!"
Cat tackled him out of the way of an attack, both landing on the other side of the street. Arthur groaned, having hit his head a bit hard.
"Are you okay?" Black Cat asked. He opened his eyes and saw the other male on top of him, face very close. He was glad the mask covered some of his blush.
"Fine. Let's go before she decides to attack again."
They got off the ground and got back up, ready to fight.
---
(I even have a dramatic reveal mwahahaha!!!)
Arthur already untransformed and began to blend in with the crowd, sighing in relief. He and Black Cat saved the day once again. The people of Ialand were safe.
He began to look around, trying to find his parents and friends who were caught up in the disaster. His lucky charm put everything back to normal, but sometimes people were still in some type of problem.
Most of all, Arthur was looking for Alfred. Black Cat said he had saved Alfred before Arthur was transformed but Arthur didn't know where the other hero left him. Arthur's phone buzzed in his bag and he opened it up to see Mattie happily eating a cookie next to his phone. He took it out and answered it, seeing it was Yao, Alfred's father's assistant, that was calling.
"Hello?"
"Arthur? Where's Alfred? He hasn't been answering my calls."
The blonde felt his blood run cold. Cat said he found Alfred a safe place to hide, didn't he? Why wouldn't Alfred answer the calls then?
"I-I don't know. We got separated during the attack. Is he okay?"
"We can't locate him. HIs father is very worried."
"I will help look for him. I...I'm sure he'll turn up soon." Arthur's voice shook. Where was that cat?
"Thank you, aru. Please call us if you hear anything."
Yao hung up and Arthur looked at his phone in worry. "Alfred..."
-
It didn't take long to find Black Cat. He was in an alley, probably going to detransform soon.
"YOU!" Arthur yelled before the hero had a chance to move.
Cat turned around and saw Arthur close to tears.
"What did I-"
"You told me you saved Alfred during the last attack! But I just got a call from his father's assistant asking me where he is! Did you actually save him?! Did you see him at all?! Where is he?!" Arthur was crying by now. Black Cat looked close to tears too.
"I-"
"Why did you lie to me?! I thought you were my friend! Friends don't do this to each other Cat!" Arthur yelled, closing his eyes tightly as he tried to stop the flow of tears.
"Artie, Alfred's safe." Cat's voice tried to soothe him, cupping his face gently. Arthur refused to look at him.
"How do you know that?" His voice cracked.
The unmistakable beeping of the miraculous hit his ears and Arthur turned, facing his back toward the hero.
"Artie, please, look at me."
"No." He choked on the word, shaking his head.
The hero grabbed his shoulders and turned his body to face him. Arthur gasped in shock at the movement and opened his eyes.
He was looking at Alfred.
Alfred was Black Cat.
Black Cat was Alfred.
Alfred knew about his crush on him.
Everything dawned on Arthur as he looked at his unmasked hero who turned out to be the love of his life.
"Er, surprise?" Alfred rubbed the back of his head nervously.
Arthur simply stared, then felt the tears coming back.
"Oh no Artie, please don't'-"
Arthur kissed Alfred.
He threw his arms around the taller male's neck and pulled him down for a kiss. Alfred wasn't complaining and began to kiss back. They pulled away for air and Alfred stared at Arthur curiously.
"Why did you...?"
"I didn't know I was in love with my favorite superhero the whole time," Arthur mumbled, smiling as he ran his thumb over Alfred's lips softly.
Alfred chuckled. "I didn't know the love of my life fought crime with me either."
Arthur froze. "Wha-"
"You know, your mask doesn't hide your freckles very well. And how can I ever forget your green eyes?" Alfred chuckled.
Arthur smiled back and he pulled him down for another kiss.
They pulled apart after the need for air became too much and Arthur buried his face in Alfred's chest.
"Why were you looking for me?"
"Yao called, he was worried you hadn't been answering."
"...I am so dead."
Arthur chuckled. "I would hope not. I don't want my boyfriend dying before our first date."
"You just called me your boyfriend." Alfred squealed.
"Do you not want me to?"
"No I want you to, I love it. I love you."
Arthur smiled up at him. "I love you too."
Arthur leaned up for another kiss.
This was perfect.
---
I even have my own balcony scene! This is before Arthur and Black Cat were close friends!
---
Arthur sighed, thinking about his day.
School was horrible, Natalya and Kat made sure of that. He and Cat saved a bus full of people then Cat asked him out but he already made plans with his friends so he rejected him. And when he did go out with his friends, he hurt the feelings of Roshaun the ice cream man.
"I feel horrible Matt." Arthur buried his face into his pillow whined. "I ruined everyone's day."
"You didn't mean to do it, Arthur. You can apologize to him tomorrow if it's really making you feel bad." Matt told his human, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Arthur smiled a but at him, and sighed.
He climbed up to his balcony and leaned against the rails, looking out into his city. He could see the national monument, Great Colombia, from his balcony. A large statue of the woman who founded the country he lived in, Colombia.
A few rooftops away, Alfred-in his Black Cat attire-was blowing the flames from the candles, mumbling 'he loves me' and 'he loves me not'. Eventually, he reached the last candle.
"He loves me..."
'Not.'
Alfred sighed, looking up at the moon, wishing for a sign. Or, at least, someone.
The wind blew his hair gently and he looked over to the bakery that was owned by the parents of his friend Arthur. Arthur himself was on his balcony looking out into the horizon.
-
Arthur jumped at the noise behind him.
"Good evening."
He gasped and turned around, spotting Black Cat.
"Black Cat?"
"Oh sorry." His face fell a bit as he leaped to the railing. "I didn't mean to scare you."
Arthur eyed him curiously. "What are you doing here? Don't you have superhero stuff to do?" He teased.
The cat themed hero shook his head. "No, I don't feel like being a superhero tonight. And...I don't feel like being alone tonight either. Would you mind if I stay here with you for a bit?"
Arthur smiled at him and nodded. Alfred crawled over to sit on the railing and the two looked out together.
"It's Arthur, right? We've met before."
"Yeah, we have. A villain had fallen in love with me. What terrible luck." Arthur frowned, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I understand. I don't have much luck with love either."
"Really? What do you mean?"
"See, today I had a special surprise planned for LadyBeetle." He sighed.
"You're in love with LadyBeetle?" Arthur gawked. He looked away. "For real?" He whispered.
Black Cat nodded.
Arthur leaned against the railing, sighing.
"So, what was your surprise?"
"It doesn't matter, he didn't go."
"I could use some cheering up myself." Arthur frowned.
"You...You've had your heart broken too?" Alfred asked.
"Yup." Arthur sighed, nodding.
Alfred smiled at him, getting off the railing and standing beside him, his hand out.
"Here, come with me." Alfred smiled.
Arthur looked down at his hand and nodded, taking his hand.
Alfred picked him up in bridal style and smiled. "Close your eyes and hold on tight, okay."
Arthur did, wrapping an arm around his neck and closing his eyes.
Black Cat jumped and Arthur felt the whoosh of the wind around him. They landed and Black Cat put Arthur down gently.
"Keep your eyes closed for a bit." Arthur waited, content to wait.
"Alright, you can open your eyes now."
Black Cat grabbed his hand and helped him up.
Arthur opened his eyes and looked around, awed.
"Wow, Black Cat this is...amazing."
He made a 360, then spotting the cat-themed hero looking out, sadly.
Arthur frowned, guilt gnawing at him.
"I'm...I'm so sorry."
"Why? It's not your fault."
"Yeah it-I mean it's...you just made all of this and, he never showed."
"He told me he might not come but I still had hope."
Arthur leaned beside him, looking toward his home.
"Maybe he had a good reason for not coming, like a family thing perhaps?"
"I know you're just trying to cheer me up." The hero sighed.
"Yes-I mean no-I mean-LOOK OUT!"
Arthur yelled, pointing at the new villain.
Alfred blocked the attack and picked up Arthur, jumping away from the giant ice cream man.
"Arthur you party pooper! Come out and see me!" The villain called.
Black Cat carried Arthur away, hiding behind a building. Arthur was held tightly against the cat-themed hero.
"Who's that? Another hero in love with you?"
"No, I think that's Roshaun the ice cream man," Arthur mumbled, thinking about it.
"Why is the ice cream man mad at you?" Alfred frowned. Arthur looked away.
"It's...It's a long story." Arthur sighed.
"...Sweetheart's ice cream. Did the person you love not show?" Black Cat asked.
"Something like that." Arthur sighed.
Ice cream started to rain from the sky.
Black Cat dodged the ice cream and left Arthur on his balcony.
"I'll try to lead him away from you." Black Cat nodded. He turned around, ready to run off but Arthur grabbed his tail.
"Black Cat, thank you for cheering me up." Arthur bit his lip and looked up through his eyelashes. "If you ever need company, you can always come here."
Black Cat smiled, ignoring the way his heart fluttered.
'Why do I feel nervous?'
"No problem. I'll see you later Arthur."
(Enter rest of episode, including when Black Cat kissed LadyBeetle's cheek)
Arthur was back in his room, in his pajamas and ready to sleep away the night. A knock on the door leading to his balcony startled him and he looked up at the door curiously, opening it.
Black Cat was on the other side.
"Hey Arthur, I just wanted to come and check on you and see how you're doing."
Arthur smiled at him.
"I'm well, thank you. I wanted to thank you for showing me the surprise. I know how special it was to you."
Black Cat smiled.
"Of course. Well, I just wanted to see how you are. I'll see you later then, Arthur." He took his hand and kissed his knuckles.
"Bye."
