They suddenly slump to the ground and you rush to their side.

"You okay?" You say, holding them close. They mumble something softly. "What?"

They place a quick peck on your lips. Your face flushes beet red and they quickly get out of your grasp, a wide grin plastered on their face. "Well," they singsong, "I'm better now~"

You clench your fists tightly and you stagger to your feet.

"Oh no," they mutter. "Gotta run!"

"COME BACK HERE!"

You breathe a sigh, still in the embrace of their warm arms. Their breathing was steady, calming. You were too embarrassed to say this out loud earlier but...

"I love you," you whisper, brushing a fringe of their hair from their sleeping face. Your cheeks feel warm yet you smile anyway.

"You're such a tsundere you know?" They say, eyes still closed, and you freeze. "You could've just told me that when I was 'awake'." An eye lazily opens, a smug grin in place. You're sure that your face is redder than a tomato now.

"I HATE YOU!"

You hit their face with a resounding smack.

"Ooowwwww...!!!"

"Maybe" they look down, a sad smile on their face. There's a burning sensation at the back of their eyes and they try desperately to hold the tears back. "I just needed you," liquid drips down from their cheeks, "more than you needed me."

Your heart breaks a little inside as you moved to hug them. There's a momentary pause, their body stiffens, not expecting the sudden physical contact.

"You're right," you say, your grip tightening. Tears still stream down their face, unresponsive. They grip your shirt in a daze. "I don't need you. I love you"

Their head snaps up to look at you, pure disbelief and confusion written on their face.

Then, they smile -a REAL smile- and a new wave of tears start at the corner of their eyes. They lean close to you, and place a quick peck on your lips.

"I love you too"
