and now I'm beginning to wonder if Ben often felt pity for those who lived on The Isle, maybe even from a young age?

like just imagine this, young little Ben with his adorable little face smiling brightly as his pseudo uncle or aunt tells their story

but then his smile gradually drops

and he asks about the villain, didn't they have feelings too? didn't they get hurt? 

...

do they ever get a happy ending like we do?

and they just ruffle his hair and laugh, not even answering his question as they leave the room

and this goes on and on and on-

then he learns of the situation in the Isle as he's becoming king- 

it fuels him

he wants to help

he wants everyone to get their happy ever after

...

i really like that

Ben's gray mentality, not seeing everything as black and white

it's...nice
