Heartaroo: a fantastic beasts creature

I basically created this little creature.

A heartaroo is a small animal which resembles a minuscule kangaroo crossed with mouse-like features, but it differs due to having abnormally large ears, and a scaly tail with a scorpion sting upon the end of it. The heartaroo's pelt colour ranges from rusty brown to dark brown, whilst albino and melanistic varieties exist yet are incredibly rare. The heartaroo also possesses a short, hairless snout, with a long tongue to enable it to suck up various insects from their nests and holes.
The heartaroo, according to my studies, is incredibly affectionate towards humans: the reasons are so far unexplained. Evidence suggests that the heartaroo is perhaps affectionate towards humans due to assuming that humans are vulnerable or naive, hence why it has repeatedly protected me and my friends/colleagues from various dangers ranging in severity. As an attack and defence mechanism, the heartaroo tends to use its sharp, needle like claws, yet will resort to using the sting upon its tail. After experimentation with the toxins from its sting, it has been concluded that the venom is capable of paralysing a human for an entire hour, presumably to allow the heartaroo to escape whilst its Hunter is incapacitated. There are no known after affects or side effects from this venom.
The heartaroo has incredible hearing due to its large ears, which aids it in detecting prey and danger. It is an insectivore, feeding upon tiny creatures such as woodlouse and midgets, whilst displaying a certain fondness for egg yolk if it can find some. The heartaroo itself is preyed upon by larger, carnivorous creatures.
One of the heartaroo's most odd features, is its curious liking of heartbeats, hence the creature's name. It is uncertain as to why the heartaroo likes hearing heartbeats, yet may be similar to the reasons why a baby relaxes whilst listening to a parent's heartbeat: it finds the rhythm soothing and calming. To prove this theory, a tense heartaroo can often be relaxed if you let it listen to anything vaguely resembling the beating of a heart.
The heartaroo is native to Britain, and makes its habitat within the dense woodlands, preferring deciduous forests over coniferous forests. Whilst this creature is abundant in numbers, it is incredibly shy, elusive, and nocturnal, hence why it has never truly been seen and studied until now.
