Looking back on 2021: Burnout, Writing Failures and Randomness
Hello everybody.
Today I will talk about my fAIlUres-
Actually no we gonna talk about things I am happy with this year and things I'm not. I know many people only share the good stuff about the year (after all who wants to post depressing parts of their lives on the internet) however I am nOT lIkE oTHer gIrls, I have no dignity.

So let's talk about my messups this year! Yeah-
In case you didn't know, I have a Youtube, a Deviantart and an Instagram (and also this, Wattpad). This year I did juggle trying to post consistently on my social medias while also writing... which lead to burnout.
1. Deviantart
The most neglected social media I guess. Deviantart was probably made so artists could share their art. I created it to download some stuff for my Youtube videos.
Before this year I posted very irregularly on Deviantart. Later I started to post once a week because I had enough stuff to post. Now I try to post everyday on Deviantart (because I have enough stuff to post for 2 months, if I post everyday).
(In case you're wondering what 'stuff' I mean "memes". And if you're wondering what type of memes....)
(I'm waiting for my wattpad followers to decrease after posting this chapter lajflsjfslkfj)
2. Instagram
Ah. I opened instagram thinking 'This looks fun!'
I regret it, I don't recommend anyone opening one. If you want to share your videos, use Youtube. If you wanna share your art/ memes, use Deviantart. Instagram does let you post both images and video, but it's not that great (I'll go into full detail why later).
Although there are many AMAZING peeps on Instagram, I don't think it's good for mental health. Lots of people have said they feel uglier after using Instagram. I don't really feel uglier because I didn't follow celebrities, but I used to be OBSESSED with Instagram and getting views on my posts, which is stupid. So I don't really recommend Instagram for anyone else.
3. TWITTER
GUYS WAIT I CAN EXPLAIN.
Someone made this:
https://youtu.be/EvOIl8b2h64
I tried to find the creator's Instagram because they didn't post anymore on Youtube and I wanted to know if they were OK or not. Then I found the person on Twitter and tried to open an account just to talk to them.
But Twitter didn't send me a code to verify my account. I tried to send a support ticket but that didn't go through either. I tried to email them but they didn't reply. So Twitter support SUCKS.
But the good thing is that I don't really have a Twitter, which is great. It's like god made sure that I don't have Twitter lol.
4. Youtube!
Ah, although Youtube makes STUPID 'updates' (Like removing the dislike button, among other things), I still like this platform best among social medias. It's not as toxic as the others (or it WASN'T, before dislike buttons got removed. Now people take their hatred to the comments) and has good content. It's very addictive, though, so do be careful peeps.
I posted once a week on Youtube for a long time now. I tried to keep the chain unbroken, and am pretty happy with the videos that I put on Youtube. (people might find it cringe tho, but that's okay. I made it mostly as a creative outlet and am glad that some people did like it!)
When I started Youtube I only posted MMD vocaloid song videos. (MMD is an animation software).
I used to make videos like this:
https://youtu.be/Z0hf2QO45Bc
But during Quarantine I got into Kpop, especially BTS. (Even if you don't like BTS' music, you probably will enjoy their interviews, which I find HILARIOUS. If you don't like them that's fine bts) After that I started posting 'shitpost' like content too.

(BTS in case you don't know them. and it's ok not to know BTS too. I know they're really big but I don't know a lot of Hollywood actors, who are really big. As a person who's faced quite some 'you have no life' comments for not knowing famous peeps, IT'S OK. )
Anyways Vocaloid shitposts:

and sorry for this

Although I do have enough content on Youtube to last me another 6 months, I lost love for MMD, the animation software I used to make a lot of my videos. I enjoy making shitposts much more now. However, nowadays I don't really feel like making videos at all.
In fact I literally have to force myself to post on Instagram. I am thinking of taking a break from there (btw if you take a break from any social media your engagement will just PLUMMET, but I have a lot more important things I need to work on. If social media is your income source though, I'm not sure if that would be a good idea).
ANYWAYS.
5. Art
I tried to improve in art this year. I do think I've progressed, but my art still has a long way to go. And it's okay, because art is no longer one of my priorities.
This is my OC Ahren (from Sylvia The Whales story)
I tried drawing a singer.
This is probably my favorite drawing. I tried to recreate one of my favorite artists' drawing. The original design is by Mizury Ruru.
This is her art (the cover is by a Vocaloid cover artist. Only the art in the Video is Mizururu's)

This is my version:
(feel free to critique/ roast my art btw. I try to improve, although art isn't really my priority at this point)
(In case you're wondering what I drew with, I used Scratch! Scratch is a programming tool, but it's art tools are just epic, especially if you have to draw with a mouse and/or are poor *cries*) Highly recommend for mouse artists.
FINALLY.
6. WRITING.
This year I realized that I love writing the most and nothing really gives me as much joy as writing.
I drafted my first novel this year- yeah it's a pretty shiddy draft, but I'm still happy I got one thing done this year.
I tried to work on 3 other stories, none of which were successful. I stopped making my medieval fantasy story (Sylvia The Whales- as my little bro calls it. I actually call it Sylvia De Waynes). I tried to write a new story for Nanowrimo but failed after 4000 words. Then another sci-fi fantasy which I stopped after 1 chapter.
*Sighs.*
Overall, I'm quite happy with how the year turned out. I think I could've been more productive/ efficient. I hope to do better next year and focus more on writing instead of posting on social media.
Let me know what YOU worked on last year! What are you writing now/ are you taking a writing break?
