I have the craziest luck.

I don't know if that's bad or good, but I do.

Okay, so my mom and dad knew that I loved Hoenn and the ORAS series. They knew that out of the two games, I would prefer Omega Ruby (cause Team Magma is amazing)

Well they went to Game Stop some time ago and found a used version of Alpha Sapphire for free with a 3DS. So yeah. They got it.

Well, they explained to me that my siblings could maybe play it instead, since I prefer Omega Ruby. I reluctantly agreed.

Well... I was on the game last night, since no one had played it yet and the data was still on the game. I was curious to what kind of Trainer had this game originally, you know? I wanted to see the kinds of Pokémon he had caught, how far he got into the game, stuff like that.

Well I was in for a disappointment.

Pokémon caught: 23

This person, going by the name of "Jason", had all 8 Gym Badges, but quit the game immediately before the Elite Four. I checked the Team, finding a Sceptile, Latias, Mightyena, Castform, Lombre, and Hariyama, all around level 40. None of which were Shiny.

I used Latias to Fly to a Pokémon Center to check the PC. Maybe they had the special Pokémon in there? It was a worth a try.

I checked the PC, and saw that it was loaded onto Box 2. Tentacool, Kyogre, Medicham, and Plusle were the Pokémon there. Box 1 had only 7 Pokémon, none of which were any good, nor were they Shiny. None of them were even nicknamed!

Whatever I thought. So this person just wanted to complete the game. That's fine.

For whatever reason, I wanted to find a Pokémon with Sweet Scent for Horde battles. Wanted to see a Shiny Pokémon. I don't know why, since the data was going to be erased anyway for my siblings to play, but I guess it was late and I wasn't thinking correctly.

So I went to Route 110 to look for an Oddish with Sweet Scent. Plusle after Plusle after Plusle I kept encountering, and not a single Oddish. I began feeling a bit discouraged, but continued looking.

I had been playing the game for no more than twenty minutes when I finally found something different; an Electrike. I sighed, wondering why such a Pokémon could be found so late into the game. I ran away from it and was going to leave the patch of grass to look someplace else when it happened.

Another random encounter, another annoyed sigh. That is, until it showed an Electrike. A blue Electrike. I froze, and sure enough, the sparkly Shiny animation appeared. I stared at the screen for a good few minutes. Again, I had only been playing for less than 20 minutes, and the person had caught only about 20 Pokémon, so there was no way he had a Shiny Charm.

I threw a Premier Ball, knowing that any hit would knock it out. It escaped and used Tackle. I threw an Ultra Ball. Same result. I started to worry, as there were only about 8 Ultra Balls total and nothing else, and this Pokémon was level 10. I threw another, and it was caught.

I named it "Sparky" and ran to the PC to see its stats. Hasty nature, Alert to sounds, and knows the moves Thunder Wave, Leer, Howl, and Quick Attack. (I don't know what a good nature would be for Electrike, but hey, I'm not complaining; I got a Shiny.)

I saved the game and explored Hoenn for a bit longer before putting the game up and finally going to sleep.

Then this morning, I brought out the 3DS to show my brother and sister, and they loved it. I got out the other 3DS and popped in X (I hadn't played it so I had to go through the struggle of getting a starter and catching a Pokémon first). I mean, maybe I could trade it to there, and then back when we get Omega Ruby.

Needless to say, I now have a Shiny Electrike in X.

And yes, I nicknamed my Fennekin and Pidgey, since I'm planning on doing a Nuzlocke in X.

And I know that some people aren't going to believe this whole story, but look at this.

So yeah. This is the long, complicated story of an old Alpha Sapphire game and how I got a Shiny almost immediately.

...If only I had this kind of luck in my other games...
