What's up everyone it's Mario and Sonic fanboy here and today we're going to be doing another debunk which is Top 10 Things Avatar: The Last Airbender does BETTER Than Shonen Anime (Avatar VS Anime) now before we start I just have to say I LOVE Avatar: The Last Airbender it's an awesome show and ever since I watched the show it became one of the best shows I watched in my life I've watched the whole series at least 4 times and ever time I watch it I was brought into the amazing world I love the characters, music, plot, villains, action, and character developments it's all amazing. Now the title of this is top 10 things Avatar did better than any Shonen Anime which includes Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Hunter X Hunter, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, My Hero Academia, and many more. Avatar: The Last Airbender has often been compared to by Shonen anime which I can understand there are some similarities (Shoto Todoroki is basically an anime version of Zuko as an example). Now I won't lie I understand him I LOVE Avatar WAY more than all Shonen Anime out there, but most of his reasoning as to why Avatar is better than Shonen Anime is ridiculous and is an insult to everyone who is a fan of Shonen. So that is why we're here so I can clear up those reasons so without further a do let's get this debunk started.

First reason

Okay so moving on we have his first reason which is clear consistent goal. Now I personally agree with him that having a clear goal like Aang trying to defeat the Fire Lord and save the world and restore balance has to be at the back of our heads for the entire time but here's the problem with that. Who on Earth who has watched anime even forgot that Naruto wants to become Hokage and than forget that he has to save Sasuke? Who in the world forgot about that? Naruto's dream and saving Sasuke was always stuck to the back of our heads like anyone who's watch Naruto and read the manga from star to finish, sure he'll get side tracked for 28 plus episodes but we'll still remember his goals. As for Ichigo his goal is always to protect his friends and family and everyone from all threats and even if I give to you and say that I am talking about big goals like defeating the Fire Lord and save Sasuke, Let me ask the question why would say that Avatar has a better goal than Bleach when Bleach isn't even TRYING to have a clear goal? I feel like you just brought Ichigo up for no reason what's so ever.

Second reason

As for consistent animation I don't really have a problem at what he just said for Avatar because like I said the show has awesome actions but Shonen Anime actually has more consistent animation than Avatar examples like in Naruto in the Foruth Shinobi World War arc I think Team 7's fight with Kaguya is a lot better than Aang's fight with Ozai, My Hero Academia is where All Might fighting All For One is probably one the best scenes I've seen the only anime that I can see where Avatar had better action scenes is Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood but others like Bleach where Ichigo uses the Mugetsu on Aizen just demolishes Avatar. I'll have to admit some Shonen Anime has better animation than Avatar.

Third Reason

I agree that people of all ages can enjoy Avatar: The Last Airbender but this is one of the issues I have in this video apparently Avatar focusing on all audiences (all ages) is better than Shonen Anime focusing one specific audience (usually around PG 13+ or older). First of all what is the problem of being edgy, dark, serious, etc? Just because kids won't enjoy it that doesn't mean anything teenagers like me and adults can enjoy it if we want to. Secondly according to this guys logic that means the Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) movie having focusing on all audiences is WAY better than any MCU movie or DCEU movie or any other Marvel and DC movie just because they all focus on PG 13 audiences or older. Everyone has a right to enjoy whatever show or movie rather if it's friendly or not. Thirdly are you seriously telling me that no Shonen Anime has experience in genocide, knowing who you are, and overcoming your past?

I got news for you Aang is not the only one who knows how it feels to be the last of his kind or to lose someone, Sasuke lost the entire Uchiha clan making him the only survivor of the clan, same with Uryu he lost his Quincy clan too, Goku and Vegeta lost all the Sayians on Planet Vegeta which got blown up leaving the future of their race at their hands, Gray lost his entire family and town to a dragon, so don't sit there and tell me that genocide is something new to Shonen Anime. As for knowing who you are and overcoming the past their are a lot of characters in Shonen Anime who are know who they are like Izuku sure he's not a pro hero yet but he's getting and he knows who he is, Gray Fullbuster has overcame his past after his teacher died when he tried to get vengeance on the dragon that killed his family I can name many more that have been through the exact same position any character from Avatar has these are just examples.

Fourth Reason

Okay this reason is the one I wanted to debunk the most first things first of the Chosen One thing. First of all noticed how he says the Shonen Anime protagonists are being op for the sake of op for some reason? That quote right there just shows that this guy never did watch the anime at all or even halfway through them at least, if he did than he would've understood why they are what they are, and besides not a single Shonen Anime isn't even TRYING to have a Chosen One (at least from what I've seen) nor even be op for any reason what so ever so this isn't really a good reason. Also according to this guy's logic that means Eleven from Stranger Things having psychokinesis powers is better than Harry Potter having a lightning bolt scar on his forehead, when in reality if you actually watch the movie series or read the books you will understand why he got that scar and why he was important. Also Avatar shouldn't be talking especially since when Aang is in the Avatar State goes insanely OP.

Fifth reason

Now for this next reason I was originally going to skip it because I don't see any problems with it but when he starts saying stuff like Bleach never having a satisfying ending (or have no ending at all) that's when the issue comes so first off if you actually read the manga you will find that yes Bleach did have a great ending, I'm not saying all Shonen Anime have satisfying endings in fact I agree that Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood had an ending that was as satisfying as Avatar: The Last Airbender and that My Hero Academia is still going on so we'll have to wait to see how that ends I don't know about Hunter X Hunter but it's confirmed that One Piece is ending soon and I can possibly care less about when Dragon Ball ends. So I don't really have that much of an issue with this reason but when he said Bleach never had a ending is when I have a problem sure the anime got canceled but it's coming back for a final season so we'll still how it ends like we did in the manga. As for Naruto I think it was good I think ending it off after the Fourth Shinobi World War arc, defeating Sasuke, and becoming Hokage was probably the best way to end it off but that's just me.

Sixth reason

Now I gotta say the main characters of Avatar are better than any Shonen Anime, unfortunately there is still an issue, I'll admit Naruto has his far share of forgotten characters but they still have their fans, if you read the manga of Bleach than you'll know what happened to the main characters as I've said before, and if he said that most of the Shonen Anime don't have any lovable characters what about Fairy Tail the one where fans love people like Ezra Scarlet or My Hero Academia where fans like Deku? Shonen Anime characters all have their fans and have their moments some of them those moments are better than Avatar even Sakura (Who I completely dislike) had her moments in her series. I can tell you that not a single character in Avatar can match 90% of Shonen Anime character especially in a one on one fight and power scaling.

Seventh reason

I don't have any problems with this one because if I enjoyed The Legend of Korra as much as I did with Avatar: The Last Airbender and even though I wasn't really satisfied with it but I enjoyed Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as well. And if you ask me Korra is better than Boruto but here's the thing noticed how he said that some of the elements have changed from Naruto? That also tells me that he didn't watch Boruto either, yes Korra has a better setting and yes Boruto gets more hate than Korra but he didn't look closer to see what has changed since the Naruto: Shippuden series ended I see technology like video games, the Chunin Exams are different, and Boruto wants to be like Sasuke. Both Korra and Boruto are the exact opposite of Aang and Naruto and if he just watch the Boruto anime he would've known that.

Eighth reason

So according to this guy Avatar having more grounded power systems is better than anything Shonen Anime can do like destroying planets.

Avatar make have some calm power systems but I'm siding with Shonen Anime on this one because I prefer to see power systems that are insane, the only thing in Avatar that had some insane power systems is in the The Legend of Korra but even that's astray because none of it can surpass some insane amount of feats which is what I enjoyed. Even Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood had more insane power systems (although it can't be Avatar). Now let me ask the question can Avatar's power system do anything like this?

Short answer no.

Ninth reason

So this guy is saying that not a single main character from Shonen Anime has character development.

That right there alone proves he didn't watch those anime at all or at the very least watched half of it. I have seen many characters develop over the years, Naruto started off as a goofy, prankster but as time goes on he changes a lot especially as an adult, sure he's still an idiot but as time flies he changes. I have seen several Shonen Anime characters change throughout the series as time progresses sure their some personalities remain the same like Luffy but they can grow and develop in any way shape and form if guy had watch the anime all the way and looked closer than he would've understood. And if you ask Shonen Anime fans Bleach-Grimmjow you'll know that anime protagonists can develop.

Tenth and final reason

Honestly his last reason is the only thing I feel he got 100% correct Avatar: The Last Airbender does have better world building as I've said the more I watch the show the more I got into I'm sorry but no matter how much I get into Shonen Anime like Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, My Hero Acadamia etc their world setting does not interests me heck even show like Yu Yu Hakusho is completely outclassed by Avatar.

Conclusion

So overall while I agree that Avatar: The Last Airbender is better than Shonen Anime his reasons behind it are the ones I have issue with and to be honest I don't think he even bothered trying to watch the anime that might explain his lack of understanding of the anime and the characters and etc. But that's my opinion and everyone has a right to their own opinion.
