Trans Day of Visibility

So, I already made an announcement about this holiday, but there is more that I have to say and didn't get to because of the 2000 characters limit.

A few more facts/rants:

Transphobia is everywhere. Despite the fact that neither Pride nor the LGBTQIAP+ community would exist as it is today without trans activists such as Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, and their advocation during the Stonewall riots, there is still transphobia within the LGBTQ+ community.

Marsha P Johnson, a trans woman of color, was an American gay liberation activist born in 1945. Sylvia Rivera was another trans woman who advocated for Gay Liberation during that time. They were both prominent participants in the Stone Wall riots, which are usually recognized as what gave the LBGTQIAP+ Pride. Without trans activism, the LGBTQIAP+ community would not exist as it does today. Watch this video for more info on these amazing women:

There are many studies showing that trans peoples' brain chemistry is closer to a cis person's brain of the gender they identify as. (Sorry if that was confusing, hopefully this next bit will be more coherent.) A trans woman's brain is more similar to a cis woman's brain than a cis man's brain. The same for a trans man. There shouldn't have to be biological evidence for people to respect a person's identity, but the evidence is there regardless.

"I identify as an attack helicopter." One, you're not funny. Two, maybe be grateful that you won't be murdered and/or hate-crimed just for existing. Over 300 trans people on average are murdered every year in the US alone. Three, your cisgender privilege does not give you the right to mock trans trauma.

A queer person saying they are superphoboc, heterophobic, or cisphobic is not the same as a cishet person saying they are homophobic, transphobic, or queerphobic in any way. Because heterophobia is a joke. Straight people are not oppressed for being straight and never have been. Me saying that I am heterophobic is not causing any damage. It is not perpetuating oppression against heterosexual or cisgender people because there is no oppression against cishet people. However, someone saying they are homophobic is harmful because they are basically condoning hate crimes against the LGBTQIAP+ community. Oppressed people making jokes about oppressors is humor. Oppressors making jokes about the oppressed is oppression.
