~Chapter 10~
"Error!" You yelled, full attention on him. "I knew you'd come! I predicted you'd come when we were so close to freeing everyone."
Chara stood at your side as Papyrus took your other side. "Bro!" Papyrus called. His expression was pained as you gazed at his captured family. "Don't worry Paps! I'm fine! He didn't do- AAAAA!"
Blueberry's body twisted aggressively as he released a blood-curdling shriek. "No! Stop!" You yelled.
"Put him down! Why are you so determined to hurt us?!"
You have to buy time. Ink is waiting for opportunity.
"You're all ju-ju-just dirty g-glitches to me. Worthless Bugs..." He cackled in his broken tone.
"You're lying! You just can't understand that there will always be more existence beyond that of one world!" You retorted.
From the corner of your eye, you saw a flash of tan as Ink closed in on his prey. You stepped forward, taking full attention of Error. "You're an idiot with a brain the size of a walnut!"
"I'm a m-million times smarter than you Puppet! You're only a c-c-che-eap copy of what you're supposed to be! A mis-mistake!"
"And what are you?! You're literally named Error! Something went wrong with you, and like the insecure freak you are you're reflecting your rejection on people weaker than you. How stupid do you think we are to not realize that?!"
You almost cringed at your own words. You had no problem thinking up hateful words, but actually hearing them made you feel guilty.
His grin twisted as he smiled at you, face hidden in his hood.
"I'm smart enough to keep an eye on my pawns." He said ominously, no glitch to break his words.
Blueberry squirmed to try and regain free movement but a quick twist of strings rang a awful scream and stilled the skeleton.
"Stop it!" You pled. "He doesn't deserve this!"
"N-none of you deserve any-anything!"
"Run! He knows!" Blueberry yelled, luminescent tears trailing his face.
Your eyes widened as Error shot him a venomous glare, cut off his sentence with more pain.
"Bro!"
"Blueberry!"
You froze, watching as Ink froze as well in position. Error sighed as he chuckled, looking down at you with his volatile gaze. "Oh w-well. Bl-Blue spilled the beans. I can w-work with this."
Your eyes widened as you fumbled back. "I-Ink..." You stuttered, finding the courage then raising you voice. "Ink now!"
A tidal wave of ink crashed from the ceiling over Error. He teleported from harm, reappearing farther away with Blueberry now on the floor, panting as he held his chest in a pained manner. Error's disgruntled laugh filled the hall, a network of blue string webbing the walls and floor as you stood defensively. Ink appeared at your side as you faced him.
Your hands shook as you looked down at yourself. Your vision flickered between color and black as your soul appeared before you. The strings seemed to wrapped around your legs, a single strand strung through your soul. It pulsated with life as your heart raced, realization overtaking you.
Chara watched as you held the string in trembling hands, wide eyes barely restraining tears. "(Y/N)... what is that?" She asked.
"No..." You gasped. "No... I couldn't..."
Error's laughter grew as your tears fell silently. "You really thought I just let you leave the antivoid?!" He boasted. "I'm not so d-dull!"
He summoned a single string to his hand and pulled at it roughly. Your body flung forward as you gasped your air. A hand clasped around your wrist, stopping you, before a clean stroke severed the tie. You looked back at Ink as he cradled you against him. He glanced at you with almost protectively eyes before returning a rageful glare at Error.
"You set us up." He growled. "You used her."
Error laughed obnoxiously, throwing out his arms. "Are you really that surprised?!"
You raised your head, humiliation and rage mixing in your heart into an acidic poison that fueled you body. Your head twitched as cool metal settled in your hand, the weight welcoming and new.
Your posture straightened from Ink, your eyes fixing promptly on the broken skeleton's form. "You bastard..." You muttered, a pain grimace on your face as you blinked back tears. "You dirty... cheating... BASTARD!!"
Ink tried to stop you but failed as you launched at Error. Inhumane strength controlled you as you drove the blade towards Error. Your battle cry was demonic and painful, your sorrow seemingly amplified as didn't hesitate to slash as the monster before you. Chara and Papyrus seemed to break from their trance as Ink raced after you, his own attack prepared he yelled. You brought you blade down in a wide slash, but found Sans in the way. Quickly pulling the blade back, you narrowly avoided him as a bone shot you across the hall.
"(Y/N)!" Ink called, momentarily distracted.
"Forget me! Get that bastard!"
He hesitated for just a moment before before nodding. He fell back with Papyrus and spoke to him outside of your hearing range. It didn't matter to you. The poison in your veins drove you on further as you once again launched yourself at Error. Chara stuck to your side, a blade matching your in her hand as you dove at Error. Chara was met by Sans but you made it through, closer to Error. You almost made it through to him when a blast of plasma smashed you into a wall far away. Your vision grew fuzzy as your vision dipped in and out of consciousness.
Red splatters littered the checkered floor as blurred attacks of blue and orange canceled one another out. It was familiar, and your heart raced.
The dream....
"No..." You groaned, eyes struggling to stay open. You swiveled your head, to find Chara meters away. She struggled to get up, but couldn't as she was blown aside by a bone attack. Her body laid sprawled out not too far from yours. The buzz of a Gaster Blaster warmimg up warned you of another attack. You stood on your feet shakily. Taking Chara by the arms, you barely managed to pull Chara beyond a pillar before the Blaster shot. Hot plasma flicked from the beam on either side, singeing your flesh as you hissed. Your knees felt weak as you flung your blade at Error. It missed horribly and you collapsed, heading throbbing from the impact of the first Gaster Blaster. You crumbled and watched numbly as the exchange of blue and orange continued. You understood better now. Error used Sans as a weapon against Papyrus, as though to rub it in his face how he had captured him.
It was an exact replica of what you had dreamed. You knew what happened next and your eyes widened. Despite the crimson staining your face and the overwhelming dark pulling at your eyes, you stood. You moved unsteadily as time seemed to slowly. Ink's attack swung forward, bubbling Ink racing at Error and Sans. Sans swung forward into the path of the attack and you screamed. You weren't going to make it. Your hand shot forward, reaching numbly for Sans.
Please, just let me save someone this one time. Let me have this one person safe!
Your soul tumbling from your chest as you once again shot your arm forward. A rainbow of strings shot from your hand, knotting themselves to Sans as you swung forward. Your body sat between Sans and the Ink as you covered him the best you could. The strings reconfigured into a basket-like shells, dispersing the ink over the floor. Your eyes flashed open as you grabbed Sans' soul, raising your knife and severing the blue strings.
He crumbled to his knees as he gasped for air, the sheild crumbling into a mess of rainbow string. "Blue..." you cried, hugging him as he hugged you back. You had only a moment of relief before Ink's cry of warning shook the air.
Both you and Sans looked up as a Gaster Blaster, bigger than any other you'd ever seen, bore down on you. Time stopped as you watched it's blast release. You had no time to create a shield. You didn't even know how you did it the first time. You looked at Sans once as he met your gaze, "I'm sorry." You said. You shove him away, the blast missing him. Your body was whisked from its location, but not before the blast took effect.
You screamed out as your body was riddled in Error's power. Your skin blackened were it had been damaged and your flesh change. The loose ends of rainbow strings hung from your hands as your body felt limp. You barely managed to keep your eyes open as the hall shrank away. You were captured in a canopy of blue as you were whisked away, the last face you saw being Ink's as he rushed uselessly towards you.
"(Y/N)!" He screamed, cut off as white covered his image, quickly consumed in quiet black.
You were gripped by confusion.
Who is Y/N?

P.o.V. Ink
I fell just short as he whisked her through a portal behind him. It snapped shut behind them, the last thing visible being (Y/N)'s face, dull and blank. Black corroded the right side of her face, her eyes changing and mimicking that of Error's.
I fell to the ground, my fist driving into the ground as I screamed. "DAMMIT!"
I was too late. I was so stupid. How could I let myself be so careless?! Of course he had prepared for this. That Blaster, using Swap as a shield, of course he knew. I was so blinded by the sweet, innocent girl in front of me. I was so busy tell her it would he okay, I didn't account for how what she was saying just might be true. The nightmares she had, waking in tears.
I felt a hand over my shoulder and I whipped around, Papyrus looking down at me with a gentle, sorrowful look. "Hey Ink, what just happened? I couldn't see, but my Bro is back. Where is (Y/N)?" He asked.
My face lit with color as my own self-hatred forced me upwards. "He got her." I growled, opening a rift with my brush.
"What?! When? I didn't-"
"He used his last attack as a distraction. He was going to take them both, but she pushed your brother from harms way." My voice broke, but I stayed turned away from Papyrus. "She saved him at her own expense."
"What?! We have to go find her!" Swap cried, his tired, wet eyes pleading.
My eyes glanced to Chara and I shook my head. "No, I'm going to find her." I said gruffly. "You need to take care of Chara."
"But what about-"
"I'll get her back!" I snapped. They flinched away from me and I sighed, rubbing a hand against my neck. "I'm the only one that can. Just... take care of Chara. Don't move on until I return with her. It could hurt her if it changed here before I can get her back."
"Ink..." Papyrus said quietly.
I looked up at him with a stoic face and he sighed. "Bring her back to us. We'll be waiting."
I nodded curtly. "I will bring her back. I'm not about to let Error have his way with her after what he's just done."
I stepped through the portal and closed it behind me. I was exhausted from the magic I used in the battle, but forced my eyes open. The room I reappeared in was plastered inch by inch of my investigation on tracking Error.
After watching the (Y/N) spirit drain like it did from her eyes, I felt something click within me. I needed to get (Y/N) back. I needed to protect her.
"You better be ready Error." I growled, "Because when I find you, I'm going to tear you to shreds. You've gone to far this time."
