07. The real story is about to begin...
In the middle of the forset I was sitting on the highest tree branch, that beared my weigth, with my notes, I was making a map. It was quite a sight, I have admit it, behind the mountains the sunset painted the sky red.
Next time, when I looked up from my notes, dragons appeared in the far distance heading to my direction, although one of them was faster. Loooot faster. Toothless passed me with super speed, and without even looking at him I knew he will turn around for me. I put my little book back to it's place on my suit, which was covered with black and blue dragon skales. I put on my helmet, which had two little horn of a new type of dragon, which regrow their horn every second year.
I jumped of the tree rigth onto my saddle.
- Sup? Did you have fun?
- It was fun as always, but we missed you.
- I had to make a map...
- I know, you need it to navigate.
- Exactly. Oh we are here. Hello! How was your flight? - asked the other dragons, and a Timberjack answeared.
- We had a good wind, so it was amazing to fly!
- Thanks for having us here.
- The honor is ours, Dragon Whisperer, there're a very few who can say they had you as a guest!
- Thank you for your kind words. However we have to go, I promised we are going to be back by sunset.
- Of course. Come back anytime!
- Thanks! See you guys!
Every dragon said their goodbye which became one big deafening roar, but I got used to it. I've been living with dragons for years after all.
- You are daydreaming. Again.
- Sorry. I was thinking about how nice was the leader Timberjack. She is nice since we saved her hatchling last year, I wonder what's up with them...
- Yeah, she is quite nice always polite, like no other dragon.... but there's something more, is't there?
I sighed.
- I'm more concerned about our plan.
- To make things different with the Queen?
- Yes. Every dragon is reasonable, I believe we can talk it out...
- You are always too nice. Maybe too optimistic.
- We called your type the "unholly offspring of lighting and death" back at my home.
- Sounds cool.
- Yeah. But is it truth, you are bloodthirsty mindless beasts?
- Of course not!
- They think so. Don't listen to every romour you hear.
- You know... there's difference between romours and knowledge! ... nevermind. You wouldn't listen, would you?
- Like always...
- I'm always watching your back. I'll be with you if you think you can do it.
- Thank you... we are nearly there. Still have strenght to have some fun?
- Always.
We were about to start the stun, when we heard someone screaming. We immidiatelly turn to face the danger, but there was only a terrible terror flying towards us.
- What happened Moss?
- Master! Master! We saw some ships!
- WHAT? WHEN? WHERE?!
- At the NorthMountains about a hour ago.
- What was on its flag?
- Um... I didn't understand.
- Uh, of course. What was on its flag?
- I can't tell. The others are there, talk with them!
- Okay. Thank you for the information.
We flew there with our higgest speed, we were nervous, we didn't want to be found out. At least not yet. There were few ships luckily far-far away from our island, but if we can see them, they can see us too. Red and Blue flew to us.
- GOGOGOOO! Green followed the defenders! Please find him!
- You've already sent them?
- Yes! And it's working. We were about to check on them, but the field is not really ours. You know. Water.
I looked around.
- Where are the nadders?
- Most of them away with your rider friends, 2 sniper remained on the island.
- We need them! - Red roared for them - Keep an eye on the others. We go to help them.
- Be safe!
We flew over to our team, our sea friends were taking care of the ships, but few of them were wounded, one of them captured, Green standing on the mast planing to jump for rescue. The flag was plain white, it had no signs. Strange. I turned to the nadders.
- Stalker, join them! Tell them in a minute we will retreat!
- Got it.
- Widow, help Green from up here. We need your best shots. Aim for the ropes!
We watched the scene. It was amazing, dragons were figthing together, like a team. They had eachothers back, and worked hard to drain the humans energy. They will give up if we give them a good work out without break. I taugth them to attack the enemy in waves, have two or three group and changing the groups. One group have the figth, the other one the break.
*me* - Vikings won't be able to keep up with them.
*Toothless* - They looks exhausted.
*me* - Lets head back as soon as she freed.
*Toothless* - Agreed.
Green hid in the shadows, but his help wasn't necessary when Stalker appearded, so he waited. Widow had a nice shot, the net was cut, the captured escaped.
- Widow! Call them back! Toothless, be patient!
Signal of falling back was a big roar. Everybody turned around and got away, the Vikings were just standing there with their mounth hanging open, than they realized, all of their food is gone. Yap. Green took it before he flew off next to us.
- Good job bud!
- Thanks! Sorry for taking the lead, but I had no clue when you'll be back.
- No, no, no. You did good. Maybe they had gotten closer if you didn't stop them. Nice job.
~Timeskip~
After a hour of calming frigthened dragons, all I could think of was my bed, but I still had some work to do. I had to take care of the injures... at least an another hour of work!
My sea forge was in a cave too, but with the ocean in there, my equipment was on the ceiling, with my wooden floors. Now this place was full. Everyone had minor injures, most of them only had a little harmless scretch, but a few bad looking wound was there too which needed a medical assist.
Toothless stood there and patiently waited untill I finished with all of them and helped me when I asked for some supplies that was out of my reach. When I finished we said our goodbyes, than we flew up to the sky.
- What a long day.
- Yeah bud. Thanks for waiting.
- No problem. I don't know if you had listened but our brothers took care of the rest. If there's something urgent they will let us know.
- Good. So we can sleep now?
- I hope so.
Toothless took a small circle around our home mountain as he landed. There were the tourches already on fire, the two deadly nadder: Stalker and Widow were sitting in the middle.
- Something wrong?
Widow stood up.
- Nothing big. But we came just in case. Red ordered us to because Stalker has a small wound.
- I'll take a look at it.
He showed his neck, from the shape of the cut it was probably an arrow. Widow already brougth a bucket of water to me, I cleaned up, but I belive there's no need for more.
- It looks clean for me, I don't see any sign of poison. - I heard Toothless as he heated up his stone. - You can stay if you want for the night. It was a long day.
They walked over to the hay, and curled into their sleeping position and so we did. For me the sleep came easily.
In my deam I fougth with a mountain sized Queen dragon. I want to believe we can avoid the conflicts.

Astrid POV
Trader Jonathan has just came few minutes ago, now everybody was looking for some treasure that could be bought, when I heard Fishleg fanboying about something.
- ...omg omg omg I've never seen anydragon with that scale! What type of dragon has this deepblue scale?
*Jonathan*- Oh dear Fishleg. It's not for sale.
*Fishleg*- Oh what a shame but what type of dragon has it???
*Jonathan*- ... I really shouldn't talk about it, but these scales are from a nightfury.
*Fishleg*- ...nightfurry?
*Snotlout*- DID YOU GET IT FROM THE RIDER?!
*Jonathan*- Um. Yeah? He promised me some healing salve from dragons if I get the best leather I can find looks good with these scale.
*me* - You trade with the Traitor?!
*Jonathan*- ... maybe...? Okay-okay he saved my ship, since than I trade with him too.
*Fishleg*- Do you know something about him?
*Jonathan*- Not much. He has a coat with the same scales on it, and he always comes with a helmet on. I've never seen any of his dragons with him athough once after our trade I waited and I saw a night fury flying away with someone on it.
*Fishleg*- Coool *-*
*Jonathan*- I know right?
*me*- Wow. He actually can tell stories in short form!
*Fishleg*- What do the almighty Dragon Rider usually need?
*Snotlout*- Yeah what would he want when he has dragons?!
*Jonathan*- Oh, he buy various type of things actually.
*Snotlout*- Like what?
*Jonathan*- Basic sources, like metal, leather, wool, seeds but he often looks for books in different topics, lots of lots of ink, paper, empty notebooks, maps... different things.
*Snotlout*- ... nothing that I expected? I thought something special.
*Fishleg*- I heard rumors, it happens when he really needs something he just steal it but leaves different type of really rare goods for exchange!
*me*- Has he ever stolen from you?
*Jonathan*- Yes. Few times. I don't even know when or how! Sometimes I just realize there's something not right, than I see some of my goods are missing... but it's true, he leaves a lot more valuable thing instead, so I don't mind it. He mostly needs common thing, that I won't miss that much anyways. Once he took something more rare, so he left a message sorry!
*me*- Wow. That person sounds more humane now.
*Jonathan*- I might dare to say he considers me as his friend.
*me*- Good joke.
*Fishleg*- Messages like this...?
He hold up a letter with wax seal symbolised a nightfury on it.
*Jonathan*- Where did you find it?
*Fishleg*- Over there...
*me*- Sooo are you opening it?
*Jonathan*- You know he sent it to me...
*Snotlout*- Than what? Read it!
*Jonathan*- ... I have no other option, do I?
*Snotlout*- No you don't.
He opened up and read it out loud.
"Dear Trader Jonathan
I'm sorry I totally forgot about I need ink too. The biggest amount if you could. I can offer the usual, moreover double amount of healing salve from our latest deal, if you can bring me to our next meeting, or I would appreciate if you'd tell me how you get it. For the information I can offer to share 10% each time I bring for myself.

The Rider"
*me*- Wooow. So what you said was true!
*Jonathan*- Why would I lie m'lady. You hurt my feelings!
*me*- Do you even have?
*Fishleg*- Thats soo cool!!! You have the handwriting of the legendary Night Rider!!! Oh my gosh!
*Snotlout*- Not that interesting...
*me*- He is known at every island by now, but nobody knows about him anything!
*Fishleg*- Right. Only a few thing is certain, his eyes color is green, he owns a nightfury and every dragon he just met with!
*Jonathan*- And he lost his leg when he was captured but killed everyone of them so his secret identity would remain secret forever.
*me*- Really?
*Jonathan*- Yes it is! I saw his missing leg with my own eyes!
*Fishleg*- Wooow.
*me*- And if he trades with you how it is nobody tracked you down and tried to catch them??
*Jonathan*- It happened already, but somehow he knew he is in danger so he didn't show up each time they tried. Soon everybody though I was lying and stopped following me, than he came to our meeting again. Since this incident I don't talk about it. I lost very much money because he didn't brought his part. So yap. I know him, but mostly for bussisness.
*me*- Wow. He is good than, isn't he?
*Jonathan*- He is a real mystery lady Astrid.
*Stoick*- Oh, Trader Jonathan! I though I'dm pay a visit.
*Jonathan*- Same question as always?
*Stoick*- Yes. Please follow me.
They went to the chief house, they started to speak but of course the gang went after them to eavesdrop.
*Stoick*- ...what are they saying?
*Jonathan*- They are concerned. Many of them got attacked by the Rider, they fear his name.
*Stoick*- Any knew about him?
*Jonathan*- His weapons are way too light for fight but they never break and aways sharp. Last time he left two throwing knife after the fight, nobody knows what type of material it is.
*Stoick*- Have you tried to get it by trade?
*Jonathan*- Of course, but he refuses whatever I offered.
*Stoick*- Shame. Anything else?
*Jonathan*- Nothing new. He offen joins fight on the side of the dragons. Few attemts to catch him, but he just gets annoyed, and more deadly. It was tried to get him by captured ones, but he never comes, but he makes the capturers' life a living hell. Last time whispering deaths was sent to get rid of their water sources and the rest was poisoned. Only a few survived, I couldn't risk to get more information about the case.
*Stoick*- Thank you for the information.
*Jonathan*- You are welcome. I'm sorry, this time I couldn't bring many news about him.
*Stoick*- Understood.
