Chapter 2
"But I, being poor, have only my dreams, I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams."
--William Butler Yeats.

Whatever I had imagined my dorm to look like, this certainly wasn't it. Hell, the room could put any decent honeymoon suite to shame.
I don't know why I even get shocked anymore. The people who stay here are practically royality.
"Is everything to your liking Miss?", James, the man who had accompanied me, asked kindly.
A light chuckle escaped my lips as I replied," Everything here is way more than my liking James, don't worry about it."
He heaved a sigh of relief, as though he'd expected me to throw a trantrum. I smiled slightly, understanding his hesitation and bid him leave after saying my thanks. Exhausted from the day's activities, I decided to take a nap after a quick shower.
Once inside the bathroom, I quickly shed my clothes and stood beneath the shower, loving the soothing feeling of water on my skin, after such a tiring day. While the bathtub was eye catching, I never really understood the purpose of one of those. How could someone just lie there, doing absolutely nothing, was beyond my understanding. I would much rather sleep on my bed after a warm shower, than risk drowning myself to death. Turning the shower off I dried myself, and wrapped a towel, realising I hadn't bought in any clothes.
I know the right thing would have been throwing on some clothes before resting, but the bed was so damn tempting that I jumped on it with a sigh, and huged a pillow close to my chest. As my lids grew heavy with sleep, the sound of the door clicking jerked me to attention, and I supported my weight with my elbows to have a look in the direction.
And heavens! Was it a sight? In front of me stood a guy who could easily pass for a runway model. His hand grazed his subtle as he studied me as keenly as I did him. God,this man was beautiful. But beauty aside, who did he think he was to barge in my room like that? Just as I was going to question him, he wistled lowly and said,
"Now, walking in onto a sight like this, is something I could get used to." The corner of his lips twitched at my mortified expression before he added, "Now as much as this sight is turning me on, I would like to know how you broke through my room. Also, I don't remember seeing you around. A face like that is not something I could have forgotten."
I was basically having a panic attack. His room? How in the name of god had I not thought about the possibility of a room mate? As I glanced down at my state of undress, I realised for the first time that there was just a single bed. No way in hell was I going to share a bed with this man. I had to do something. Fast. Pushing my weight off the bed, I dragged my suitcase into the bathroom, ignoring his bewildered expression. If he thought I would give him the pleasure of seeing me in this state any longer than he already had, he was mistaken. After pushing my legs in a pair of tight black jeans and throwing a white tank top on I pushed the bathroom door open and marched past him towards the door. Before I could as much as touch the door, the guy from earlier pulled me back by grabbing my arm.
"No darling. No. You will not leave this room without a proper talk. The least you can do is explain how you got inside my flat when I clearly remember locking it."
He was right. The incident hadn't exactly painted me in the right light and I needed to change that. Nodding my head, I held my hand out for a handshake.
"Hera. My name's Hera Harrington, and seeing that you've called my room "yours" more times than I am comfortable with, I realise we are room mates, something clearly none of us was informed about.
Understanding dawned upon his face as I continued,
"Also, I would like to apologise about my lack of decency earlier. I wasn't expecting company and.."
"I'm not complaining.", he declared cheekily, flashing me that adorable dimple.
"Of course you are not. So, I was saying you don't have to worry about running into me again, because I'm going to request for a room exchange, possibly with a female occupant."
He smiled. A genuine, heart warming smile, before placing his hands on each of my sholuders, and shaking me slightly.
"Oh dear, if you want to leave because of what happened earlier, then you have my greatest apologies. I was way out of line, and while I find you undeniably enchanting, it was no reason to treat you the way I did. I'm ready to make ammends, but can you see yourself looking past this to a fresh start?"
My eyes searched his, hoping to find any contradiction to his words, but all that could be seen was regret. Truth be told, his flirting wasn't what sent me running for the hills. Her female parts, is all a girl needs to have guys hit on her, and I've been told, on more than one occasion that I'm not ugly. So, this wasn't as much of a shocker as the fact that I for once, actually found myself capable of getting attracted to a guy. Not in the typical, "I-would-nail-you-here-and-now"fashion, but"I-could-see-myself-growing-such-instincts-in-the-near-future" kind.
And this gave me chills. Of the bad kind. I've been successful to avoid relationships of any kind, this far in my life and that is how I would like to keep it. Like hell would I allow a pretty face to deter me from my resolve.
As he waited for my response, I contemplated the possiblity of finding a better room-mate, only to realise that the chance wasn't worth taking.
I was about to accept his offer of reconciliation when he added,
"I remember you mentioning your desire for female company and that's something I would like to warn you about. If you want to survive in this school, it's very important that you choose your friends wisely. Always remember that your own sex might prove to be your greatest enemy, and while I'm not against the whole female folk, I'm yet to find someone pleasant enough to keep around."
My heart swole with grattitude for this man. It hasn't been more than a few minutes since we've met and he's already looking out for me. A giddy feeling overcame me at the thought of making my first friend here and I smiled widely at him. If this man was ready to start afresh, so was I.
"Let's start with your name lad. It's a shame I haven't learned it yet."
He smirked. And did he look beautiful?
"Exceedingly.", my conscience declared.
