So you want to write a Legolas romance? But you're worried—there are so many around already! How can I write something not cliché?

I'll admit, it's a difficult one. I'm not proud to say I avoid any story where the pairing is Legolas x OC purely because I've been burned too many times. But I don't want to be burned! I want to ROOT for the Legomances! He's a fabulous, young, sassy elf who prefers a snappy comeback to melodrama.

So recently I did some thinking. If I were to write a Legolas Romance, how would I do it? How could I make something I feel stands apart from the masses? And I came up with a couple of good ideas.

Then I remembered I have no time to write it. My writing schedule is literally booked out for years. Years. Probably like at least five years.

So, I figured I would put them up for you guys to give it a try! I've never done a Plot Shop. Maybe I should, given my writing schedule is five years booked. But anyways, here they are.

Legolas x Silvan!OFC

They meet as the Fellowship rests beneath the golden bows of fair Lothlorien. As Legolas and Gimli take solace in exploring the kingdom of the Galadhrim, they come upon a young healer. Merileth (Rose Woman — feel free to change the name of course) and Legolas hit it off, but just as they are realizing the depth of their feelings, the war tears them apart.

Legolas leaves with the Company, feeling a kinship to the Fellowship that he will not disregard even though his heart has found a bit of love. Merileth leaves with the Galadhrim, a healer amongst warriors as they set out to safeguard Mirkwood and tear down Dol Guldor.

Only when the war ends, when the bloodshed finally stops, so Legolas and Merileth meet again, this time under the sun in Gondor.

Legolas x Noldor!OFC

The Fourth Age has begun. Legolas and Gimli begin their travels around Middle Earth, eager to enjoy their newfound peace and spend time with one another in their favorite spots as they each travel home.

And they aren't the only wandering travelers. They meet Aeweniel (Daughter of Birds—feel free to change), an elf once or Gildor's company who thought the Seas were calling her home to Valinor. But with the victory over Sauron, the young Noldorin elf maiden decided wait a minute, I'm not done here.

So it is that the three travelers find each other at Helm's Deep and the Glittering Caves. Aeweniel is there eagerly getting to know the Rohirrim and the other peoples of Middle Earth. She joins Legolas and Gimli when she finds out they're going to Fangorn. She has never met an ent, and can't wait to check that off her bucket list. Soon enough, Gimli is third wheeling as they explore Middle Earth.

When Legolas and Gimli split to go to Mirkwood and Erebor respectively, she actually goes with Gimli because she's never really seen a dwarf kingdom and she'd like to. Gimli agrees, and Legolas is sad, but she promises to meet up with him in Minas Tirith later. They do, and then visit Ithilien, and she understands why he's setting up a colony there. And she decides to stay too.
