And another thing
Yet again, this is another rant.....
This time, about the thing known as slavery and also some racial stuff and also police and me ranting in general.
Yes, all lives matter. I just want to clear that up right away. Japanese lives matter, Chinese lives matter, black lives matter, and Caucasian lives matter. I just want to clarify that I am not against the black lives matter movement.
However, when I hear people talking about how we should rename certain things or forget about people because they owned slaves, I want to slap myself.
I'm no stranger to history. I know that slavery was a cruel and dark time for African Americans. However, I want you to note something:
We cannot judge those who lived in the past by our standards.
Would God judge the wicked Lamanites the same as the wicked Nephites?
Before they were converted, no. Because the Lamanites had no access to the gospel because of their fathers.
Yes, we need to not glorify people for owning slaves.
But if you want to destroy the Washington Monument, rename all the schools, states, and cities named after George Washington, or remove Washington's and Jefferson's head from Mount Rushmore, I might shake you by your shoulders.
These men are not memorialized for owning slaves.
In fact, Jefferson wrote a paragraph in the Declaration of Independence about how he wanted to abolish slavery in the United States. However, it was edited out Bc people depended on slavery to create profit.
Think about it. In the 1770s-1780s, they didn't have half of what we do now. Fields had to be harvested and tended to by hand, and there were no vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, washing machines, or dryers to help with laundry. Somebody had to do that.
Unfortunately, we, as a nation, turned to slavery to fulfill that need.
It's our job to look ahead. Yes, those people did inhumane things to slaves. We shouldn't memorialize people for it.
We do need to acknowledge the fact that this was their way of life.

Okay so police officers.
What a corrupted bunch.
I hate to tell you this, but they've been corrupted for a long time.
I don't know what to tell you.
I mean, have you seen West Side Story? Bam, example of cops being racist. There's also all the photos of cops beating protesters and such.
Here's the thing:
People are racist
People murder people
People have their own opinions
People are police officers
If you want to cure a tree with rotting branches, you don't cut down the whole thing. You cut off all the rotting branches. If the tree doesn't heal then, cut the whole thing down.
I think we need to make sure our police officers are not discriminatory towards anyone, regardless of their sex, age, race, gender, or religion.
(Cops are more likely to arrest men on charges of domestic violence than women, even if the man was the victim.)
We've come a long way. But we need to work hard to truly end racism and police brutality.
to quote Michael Jackson "If Martin Luther was a-living, he wouldn't let this be, no no!"
So let's nip these problems in the bud, yeah?

I apologize. This has become a ranting book without me intending for that to happen.
