I thought I'd tell you a tad more about me in general, simply because for some strange reason people have gotten the notion that I'm Filipino. I'm uncertain how this came about since I don't speak anything but English and all of my writing is posted in English. I would love to be able to speak another language, however, I can't.

For the most part I'm Italian, although there are a few other things mixed in there in my family background. I don't speak Italian unless you count my wondrous ability to count to ten.

Nearly all of my family has been here since both of my grandparents' generation. I couldn't tell you much about my father's parents, my grandfather died before I was born and my grandmother died when I was little, but I do know both were from Sicily. My grandmother on my mom's side came over from Sicily when she was five. My grandfather on my mother's side was a mix of a bunch of things, which would be where the rest of everything else came from! I don't know when his family came over or from where.

The family stopped speaking Italian when they came to America because they wanted to learn to speak English (it also wasn't popular to be Italian back then what with the Mob and all). So no one in my family spoke it and I never had the opportunity to learn it.

I grew up in Chicago. How's that for a stereotype, huh? Sicilian girl from Chicago. My ex-husband and I met in high school and later married and moved to Las Vegas, which is how I ended up here. I have a daughter and a house full of little furry family members. I think that covers quite a bit ... anything you need or want to know, ask me! (within reason, of course.)
