At least not the perfect, equal one

Reality is a lie

It simply doesn't exist

My reality is not perfect

But it is what I live in

In the twisted reality I have to face

Different is wrong

Beauty is not mental

Smart is stupid

What I do is wrong

And that makes me odd

So welcome to my reality

The reality where good grades are a mark of shame

Where not wearing makeup makes you ugly

Where popularity is the pursuit of life

But I reject that reality

That reality does not reflect me

That reality makes me stronger

Even though it has torn me down

The words that you try to break me with

Only make me stronger

I don't let it drag me down

But sometimes it does

Is popularity really what makes a good friend?

Welcome to my reality

Where I am shamed for caring

Patronized for being smart

A reality where others wouldn't care if I left

A reality where I am invisible

Invisible to your self-centered life

Invisible to you entirely

Until you need me

But you never really do

You just take advantage of my smarts

And leave me to do all the work

Just because I'm forced to stay there

I try to shape the corner

Of my reality

To a place where I'm accepted

I have changed my piece

Into a place I find acceptance

A place where others are respected

Not for their appearance

But for the quality of their character

That light can come out of dark places

We all have suffered

At the hands of the populars

But we don't let that drag us down
