Part One-
Whenever someone would ask her about love: all she gave was a tilt towards the sky and a click of her tongue.
"What about it? I don't believe in such a thing." she always told a white lie: something to protect herself from the dangers of opening her heart up and exposing everything. However, that didn't stop him from sweeping her off her feet.
It had been a cold winter's day, the snow barely even manageable as she tripped, stumbling head first into a sight of slobber and teeth. A dark growl had escaped the opened mouth as she remained on all fours: frozen. Terrified. Her heart beat faster than her little legs would carry her and then.
And then a shot rang through the air, her ears ringing multiple minutes before her green eyes noticed crimson residue sprayed over the snow while dark scarlet poured out of the creature's wolf-like body.
"You okay? "the stranger held out his hand, helping her out of the snow as her gothic apparel was drenched in white, purifying her goth aesthetic. His eyes were as crimson as the blood seeping out of the wounded creature's body.
"I.. um... "she practically married him on the spot... He just didn't know.

"When are you ever going to sweep someone of their feet, you're too lonely and handsome enough to die alone? "questioned Mavy. It was her favorite past time to do to get under Sergei's skin whenever he'd walk through her front door, placing down his rifle that carried silver bullets.
"Whenever you'd stop pestering me if I'd get married, or whatever. "A sly smirk curved itself on his lips for a short second before Mavy let out a small scoff, she couldn't help it.
"So never? "
"Guess it seems like that, "Sergei moved towards the kitchen as he opened the fridge, taking out the soup that Mavy had cooked the night previous. She felt him watching her from the corners of his eyes as she flattened herself straight on the couch, basically prying her eyes off the attractive male. She couldn't help but think back to the first night she was saved: staring up at his allusive red eyes and being pulled up to practically being able to kiss him: suffocating.
"You hungry? "
"Already eaten, "she informed as she noticed his red eyes studying her, his shoulders loosened; however, his posture was as straight as always.
"May I ask you a question? Promise you won't get mad? "
"What's the question? "
"Promise you won't get mad ? "she didn't wish to see the male's red eyes narrow or for his body to go back to being tense: he had just learned to soften up around her and she didn't wish to start at square one... or square negative eighty four.
"You have my word. "
"Why do you come around here? Don't you ever wish for more amusement? Someone who kept you better company? "
The corner of Sergei's lips dropped as Mavy whined: "I told you to not get upset! "
"You're the company I will only need. I never tire of our conversations and fun. You are the only one I want to immerse myself with. "
Heat crackled and sizzled on her cheeks as Sergei had finished his small serving of soup, rinsed out his bowl and sat down on the couch as Mavy adjusted herself, sitting at the other end. Soon, minutes passed by without a word spoken between them, until she glanced over and caught the brooding male studying her.
"Something on my face? "Mavy scoffed as Sergei closed the giant gap that surrounded the two, causing her to shiver. She softly felt her shoulders touch his as small shivers rustled down her spine. Had she always felt this touch starved?
"Not quite sure, is there? "Sergei asked, his voice cryptic. Her thoughts began to race like fruit flies: was he teasing? Was he being mean? Did he genuinely not know and wanna get closer?
"Yes. There is. "
She closed one of her eyes instinctively as she heard Sergei's soft breathing close in to where their noses touched. THEIR NOSES.
"Funny. I don't see anything. "
"You aren't looking in the right place. "She felt his hand softly graze the back of her curls and gently twirled her hair between his fingers.
It felt like an eternity of holding her breath that he finally tried to close the gap that kept them ... to seal an arrangement of secrets with a passionate kiss; however, a knock at the door scared them out of their wits. The distance between them doubled as Sergei marched towards the door and opened it.
"Am I being a bother? "a man poked his head to the side as his blue and yellow eyes slid off of Sergei and towards her. She couldn't help but break away from his glare and leap off from the couch and crept closer to Sergei.
"State your business, Todd, "Sergei crossed his arms as Todd swept his red hair out of his face and adjusted his ponytail, his eyes ever so casually landing on her.
"I came here to talk about another werewolf sighting, "he shouldered past the taller taller male and then wiggled his fingers at Mavy, his eyes glued to her. "We meet again, Mavy "
"Guess so, Noble Todd Scott of Windellow. "She had met him where one would meet all Nobles: thru her Dad. Her Dad was a powerful man. Someone who served the royal guard and traveled from city to city... well, he used to before a werewolf had fatally bit him, infecting him until his second in command had to put a bullet in his skull: his second in command had adopted her afterwards.
She had fuzzy memories of the times she had with her dad. She remembered that he always smelled of strawberries and she remembered that he worked all day, every day while her mother was nowhere in the picture.
"Madame Mavis? "Todd snapped her out of her thoughts as her eyes wandered towards Sergei who had turned to face her. "I would love for you to keep looking all airy; however, I have business to attend to "and nodded towards Sergei, who bristled.
"You are why I came here for. Many have noted about you and Mavis's ... Closeness so it was obvious I should check here first. "Mavis couldn't help but flinch at the ice laced within how he pronounced "closeness." Todd spun on his heels as Sergei remained quiet, something he often did.
Please say something! Deny it! Accept it! Anything! She wanted to screech. She didn't want to hear Todd go on as Mr. Scott clicked his tongue.
"Is that why you have come here, Scott of Windellow? To stick your nose in other's businesses about a friendship ? "Sergei's words were laced with poison as Mavy couldn't help but get hung up on one word: friendship. Was she foolish that anything would EVER come from her fateful dream?
"I came here for a business proposition. I want you to come to Windellow with me tomorrow morning and hunt down a werewolf that keeps griefing our lands, killing our livestock, scaring our women and children. You're the best, Sergei. I know you won't let me down like countless others have "
"Windellow is your problem. I am quite comfortable in the small village of Hollow and serving the kingdom of Aredelle."Sergei replied blankly. He wasn't persuaded easily. His red eyes fell upon her as she quipped: "He won't do it without a good reason."
That perked the nobleman's ears as he leaned in, Mavis could see the repulsiveness written quite clearly on Sergei's face, especially the wrinkles of his nose.
"All the money you could ask for... and one of my girls for the night, if wanted, of course. "
"Money, no girls. Offer something else, "yawned Sergei, which quieted her racing heart. Maybe... maybe he did care? She tried to catch his gaze but he was doing what he usually did: gazing at her from the corners of her eyes.
"Mavis will be protected. I will never see her again or talk to her. "
"If you DARE lay a finger on Mavis, I will kill you myself. We leave in the morning. "Todd gave a swift nod as he got down on one knee and grasped Mavy's hand before she could have pulled it away. "Until meet again, princess. "
Sergei bristled at his comment as Todd finally turned on his heels once more and fled through the door. "Sleep well, Serg. "
"Please tell me your bluffing "tears splashed themselves at the corner of her eyes. "Please? "
Sergei didn't say anything, sitting down on the couch once again as his red eyes focused on the flimsy carpet.
"PLEASE?? "
"I am doing this for you. "Sergei simply stated as Mavis moved towards him, staring directly at the tall male that made her look like a pipsqueak.
"I don't want you to go to Windellow! I want you here... with me...! "she breathed. Sure, she probably sounded whiny but she didn't want the possibility of him leaving for a two week trip and never returning back to her.
"Don't worry , Mavy. Everything is going— "
"How can you say that?? How?? What if that werewolf kills you?? What if I never see you again?? What if something bad happens to you?? "
"Nothing will. I never miss. "
"And if you do for once?? What happens then?? "
"Mavy, I am doing this for you— "
"What about us? "Mavy's tears disappeared into anger as she picked up a couch pillow and threw it at the tall male: he sat there still as a statue.
"Mavy, I— I should get going. Your father is going to be home soon and— "
"You don't want him to know we have been talking?? "her anger boiled as the Russian stared up at her confused.
"I don't want him to think we did something. What about your dowry? Your Father is getting too ill to keep working! "she halted as his words echoed in his mind. Her father was ill and getting worse and it was no surprise that ordinary men couldn't afford it. Is—
It couldn't be, could it?
"I should get going before your Father stumbles in. "Sergei went to stand up only for Mavis to feel herself pushing him back down and straddled him, pushing his back deeper into the sofa.
"You can't promise me anything, Sergei. I don't want you to die. "
"I know you don't. "
"How do you know? "she wanted him to say the words that she wish
He didn't respond, only twirled her purple hair between his fingers, feeling the softness, finding the comfort in familiarity.
"Because you care for me. "her soul ached a bit when he said that. Her eyes flicked off of him as he murmured: "and I care for you. Once I get that money, I... "
"You'll what? "
He didn't answer right away as he smashed his lips against hers. It felt like fireworks shot out from around them, like the heat never left as she felt her lips move along with his with each burning moment. It felt like minutes, HOURS had passed when they shakily broke away.
"I won't die, I promise you, "Sergei breathed down her neck as he pulled away. She moved closer towards him as she realized that both of them had been gasping for air.
"And if you do? "
"Bring me back and kill me "she couldn't help but embrace him again. She felt his hands slither down her back, resting on the borders of her lower hips as her nails dug into the back of Sergei's neck.
"I'll do it a thousand times over, too "Sergei moved the two of them to go horizontal instead of vertical, causing Sergei's legs to rest on the couch. Mavy bit his lip softly as she pushed Sergei down, his head resting against the head of the couch.
"Why'd you do that? "Sergei teased as Mavy planted a small kiss on his forehead, trailing down his face until she kissed every inch of him except his lips.
"Because. I love you. I want to spend all my time with you. "
"I know. "They moved towards each other before bolting away when a new voice entered the room from opening the entrance door.
"Mavy I brought you some milk and — "a plate shattered as cookies went everywhere as her adopted dad stood in the doorway, his mouth gaping as he took a drink of milk and spit it everywhere.
"Who are you?? "Mavy quickly darted off the Russian male as Sergei grabbed for a pillow, covering his lower regions.
"That is Sergei— "
"I KNOW who he is !! I mean you!! My daughter worries about her grades and reading and doesn't kiss boys! Wait- my daughter kissed a boy?? Where did I go wrong?? "
"You didn't go wrong, sir. Nothing happened. I'd like to apologize for offending you and your honor "
"My daughter doesn't know ANYTHING about boys and how rotten they are!! I haven't finished reading volume five of "How To Parent"!! "
"DAD! He is buying my dowry when he comes back from his job!! "whined Mavis as her Dad stopped pulsing around the room, glancing at the werewolf hunter and back at his daughter.
"You have my word. When I am done. I'll buy her dowry. I love and care about your daughter. "
Her father glanced at his daughter, smoothing down her messy hair as he gave Sergei another glance. "I trust you. Don't break my daughter's heart "

Everything had happened so fast that she wasn't ready to walk away so quickly. Had a month REALLY had passed..? Her eyes bled tears as a seamstress tightened her corset, her air supply breaking with each tug.
"You ready to be a married woman? "the seamstress asked as Mavis wiped her tears against her soft flesh.
"Hardly. He wasn't the one I wanted to marry. "Rumors floated down from village to village that the famous wolf slayer had finally met his match and died. Then, her Father exclaimed the news that she would still be marrying.
Marrying Noble Todd Scott of Windellow.
"Be thankful that your husband is powerful and handsome. "
"We both have differenting opinions. "
"Don't be so headstrong. "Mavis huffed as she heard her close friend murmur as she was prompted to start her descend herself down the aisle. Everyone's faces were blurry to her and even her future husband's cold glare was blurred.
"I will do it a thousand times over "
...
The wedding had gone faster than she had believed it to go. Her eyes focused in on the wall, not able to settle down in one position. How could they?? Her husband gripped her hand as he lead her through the fancy ballroom: tapestries of his family were overhead as the cream colored room sparkled of diamonds and rubies.
"Look alive. It seems your wishing for a corpse instead of marriage. "
"I never wanted to marry. "
"Ah. What about that.. Sergei fellow? Looks like you DID want to see a corpse over me. "
"He is out there somewhere, I JUST know it "
"Out there he is. He sacrificed himself for me, a noble deed that won't go forgotten. He is dead and I gave him my word that I would protect you. "
Mavis didn't say anything as she allowed herself to be led into a small bedroom with a balcony that overlooked the large town of Windellow. Todd closed the bedroom door as he murmured: "I know it is hard to come in terms with Sergei's death but he wished us together so I could take care of you. "
The closer he moved towards Mavy, the more she realized how hunchbaken he was becoming, his eyes began to gleam red as the moon struck at an angle. "This won't hurt one bit "he rushed forward and bit her arm, pain sneered up from the open wound as she stumbled onto the massive bed as Todd opened the balcony doors.
"Let the rage consume you, my dear. Let's avenge the cruel world that took your FILTHY hunter away from you. We can RULE this kingdom. "
"What... What are you?? "she cried as she noticed a change in her vision. She could see much, MUCH farther. Her silver ring BURNT as she placed it on the bed stand, nearly dropping it from the extreme heat that had consumed the silver ring.
Silver.
"A werewolf. Come on— "he grabbed her wrist with such force that she let out a startled cry as she felt herself being dragged off the bed and towards the balcony.
"Let's terrorize the town and spread this disease! "he cackled as she felt a tail curl out of her as fur and fur and fur and fur laid upon her skin. Todd's once "handsome" face was swirled into a wolf's face with a scar down his right eye.
"Come "and he took her down into the city.
Screams filled the air as she watched Todd grief towns and stands of food, his eyes gleaming under the moonlight while her eyes were the source of a waterfall that rushed down faster than what she could control.
She couldn't fathom the people screaming... terrified of her. She had become something she never imagined herself wanting to become: a monster. She ran away from Todd's rampage, trying to escape the screams of women, the shouts of men and the sobbing of children. She couldn't stop running, her brain beckoned her to continue, to escape, to get away from everyone and everything. However, her legs stopped... she collapsed on the gravel paved road as her eyes continued to water.
Clunk.
Her eyes jumped up to a silver blade that had lodged itself into the brick wall. Her eyes snapped to the side as she noticed a silhouette come out of the darkness of the woods. The more he walked towards her, the more she could make out his features: but not his face. He had torn clothing that exposed bloody flesh and a belt full of weapons of silver.
The full moon casted a light down above the individual who was abode in the darkness of the night and saw a sinister smile accompanied by narrowed red eyes.
"You really think you could leave me in the woods to die? I have spent all my childhood in the woods killing freaks like you "his voice darkened as he stepped forward, causing her to back away from the werewolf hunter. Everything seemed so painful, hurtful, unimaginable. She couldn't ...
Freaks like you.
She tried to call out, to let him know that she was sorry. Sorry for EVERYTHING. Not being honest. Marrying. And falling for a trap a werewolf had set up for her.
"Any. Last. Words? "
She tried to squeak. She tried to say anything. The words clung in her throat as she finally managed the words: "Sergei "
The words caused him to pause in his steps. His red eyes were bleeding tears as he dropped the silver blade he had taken out of his utility belt.
"Mavis?? Is that you?? "he rushed forward, placing a hand to her cheek as she couldn't help but lowered her ears at his action.
"Mavis. I am so sorry — "
Then tragedy struck.
Part 2- Written by Me
"Mavis. I am so sorry- "
A red blur suddenly hit the tall man before a snow white bipedal wolf. A gasp escaped his mouth as the red blob's figure became clear. He sat on top of the man's stomach, muscular, fluffy arms pinning the already damaged man to the floor by just his neck. The white wolf let out a yelp and stood there, frozen.
The red wolf's multicolored eyes sparkled as his sharp canine teeth practically glowed in the moonlight. The human man underneath him squirmed around and grunted, trying to pull the wolf man off of his body. Unfortunately, his body was beyond weak from the two months of unhealed damages and bad nourishment. The human could do nothing but start gasping for air while the wolf began mocking him while suffocating his human plaything.
"Awwww, poor Sergei! The famous werewolf hunter of Aredelle dies at the hands of asphyxiation! "The werewolf bellowed out, maniacally laughing as his fur fluffed out at the heat rising in the air.
The dark haired human gasped out for air, now trying to reach up and grab at the wolf's chest fur. His grasps were weakened and it became increasingly clearer that he was on the road to dying what some would consider a shameful death in his line of work.
The white wolf that stood nearby finally seemed to snap out of it at the red wolf's next mocking words.
"Oh how I wished to have kept you around JUST long enough to share the details of our first night officiating our love! Oh, how I long to see those red eyes of you grow angry and helpless at the idea that the things you were TRAINED to kill could bring your lover so much more pleasure than you ever could, Wolf Hunter. "
When his final words escaped his mouth, the white wolf leapt forward with incredible speed and a sudden carnal rage fueling the movements. While the human took this moment to gasp out for air and recover, the two werewolves tussled on the ground. The recently turned wolf bit down into the elder's shoulder, causing quite a yell of agony to escape his mouth before he clawed into the younger's shoulder, pushing her away. Despite the pain she had experienced tonight, it seemed to be no match to the inner fury she had felt listening to this guy talk down to the man she once loved and previously thought had died. It definitely didn't help that he added that she was just a prize. One he had won when he had bought her hand in marriage from her poor elder father. Tricking BOTH of them into believing the Russian man behind them had died in a terrible fight against a pack of wolves.
As she leapt back on the other wolf again, he prepared himself by sinking his sharp teeth deep into the recently opened wound on her arm. Created from his earlier attack on her that made her this...
This...
"MONSTER!!!!! "
The girl's voice bellowed out inhumanly as pain overwhelmed her senses, causing her to lash out and sink her teeth deep into the other shoulder of this wolf. This only made her attacked, fling her off of him and pin her down, placing a rough hand over her rather small and fragile head while growling.
"You little brat! "He growled, "How DARE you attack me! I'm your HUSBAND! Not that STUPID, WEAK human!! "
His teeth grew dangerously close to snapping on the white wolf's cheek. So dangerously close. A feeling of fear hit the girl's ever beating heart and she braced herself for the final impact.
But there was none.
Instead, the weight above her got off of her as the previously weakened and dying human had regained his strength and had the wolf pinned up against a nearby tree, dagger held up to his neck. The white wolf could smell blood. It was so... so strong. It made her nose burn, but she got up and limped over to the cornered werewolf, taking notice of the new injury on his side. Sergei must've stabbed him...
The human pressed the dagger deeper into the werewolf, who only squirmed and kicked the air, before howling loudly into the beautiful night sky.
This made Sergei pull his dagger away, realizing the danger they were about to be in.
"You fuck— "The Russian kicked the wolf as hard as he could in the stomach, mainly to knock him down a peg, before turning to the injured wolf behind him and grabbing her hand. Before she could even make an attempt to speak to him, they were already running. Running as far away as they could as quickly as possible. What were they running from even? What did that howl mean? Why didn't Sergei kill the werewolf? Why didn't he kill Todd Scott? The werewolf, still feeling those carnal emotions, finally managed to pull her wrist away, stopping their movements. The human turned back to look at her, clearly shocked and upset at her unwillingness to carry forward. ""Mavis! We can't be out here! We are in GRAVE danger if you and I stay in this area! "
The wolf only puffed out her chest and gave a nonverbal response that, when translated, meant 'WHAT THE FUCK?'
The Russian could only sigh and take this moment to pull out his old gun and a tiny case. "I only have three bullets."
He grumbled, loading up the gun before reaching out to touch Mavis' fluffy face.
She only pulled away, unwilling to let any tender touch potentially get corrupted in this state. Sergei sighed and pulled it away.
"Look. Mavis, I get this is a lot to take in. I get that you really don't have a clue about anything relating to werewolves other than what information you are allowed to read from those books you get at the library. Truth of the matter is, when Todd made that howl, he was summoning more werewolves to our location "As he spoke, he got up next to her and made the motions for her to at least walk forward, so they could be on the move away from danger.
"Werewolves tend to come in really large packs of 10 or so wolves. Windellow happens to be a town with a hidden network of wolves, all connected through the fucked up family the Scotts have cultivated over the years. I wished I had known all of this sooner. I damn sure wouldn't have come down here upon realizing they had such a bad plague of those... those disgusting creatures. "His voice filled with an overwhelming amount of poison and disdain for werewolves, further solidifying Mavis' fears of her new form.
Upon seeing her head turn away, eyes glistening with tears, did Sergei realize what he really said. He placed a hand on her shoulder and kept moving both of them forward.
"You're... not a disgusting creature, Mavis. I would never refer to you as such."
She didn't move her head up to meet his gaze, so he sighed and just carried on explaining the danger.
"Todd is the son of a very... infamous werewolf. One who slept with dozens of women and simultaneously spread the werewolf curse to many innocent people, causing many to go buck wild and just..." His face grimaced, "I don't need to explain what would happen. Point is, if I killed that wolf, his family's little army would immediately hunt and kill not just me, but you and everyone else you know as well. With me being so close to killing him, he's gonna want them to kill us both once they catch up to us. At least with us escaping the situation, it buys us enough time to escape this cursed place, give Todd a night to calm down so he'll only want me dead, and allows me the time to gather resources to kill him AND his pack of goons."
Mavis growled at the words. Of course he'd try to do it all on his own. Play the hero schtick. Look where that got him! She finally turned his gaze back at him, pouting. If there was one thing to be said about her new form, it seemed that her mannerisms and expressions carried over well from her human form to the wolf one. He could easily tell she was upset and angry at him. It made the Russian chuckle a tiny bit, before sighing and stumbling over a little. Her arms reached out and grabbed him, giving her a bit of pain with her exposed wound. His heart was racing quickly. Mavis realized pretty fast just how well she could hear it, even with her being a decent bit away from his chest. And that earlier smell of blood? It made her mouth oddly water. It became quickly apparent to her that she wanted to eat Sergei.
Horrified, she pulled her arms away once he regained balance and quickly wrapped her hands around her muzzle. It limited her breathing, sure, but at least that oddly satisfying smell of blood wasn't entering her nose anymore.
Sergei seemed to understand what she was doing pretty quickly, and made the effort to tear up his shirt, making sure it wasn't a bloodied piece. He took that piece, tore it in half, and handed them to her to stuff in her nose. Not a perfect solution, but it'd have to do. Besides, she could still breathe out of her nose...
---------------
Once the problem of her smelling was cleared up, there was the issue of Sergei's weak body now finally catching up to them in full force. It was nearing day break too, so the human had been pushing hours of travel into a body that had no real time to recover. With this issue in mind, they had to stop, even at the insistence that he was well and they still weren't out of the danger zone. Mavis wasn't taking a no for an answer. Thankfully, a nearby cave had been spotted by the white wolf, and she helped limp her lover to the cave. Sure, it was small, and dirty. Really dirty, actually, but they needed the shelter first and foremost.
Picking out a decently hidden spot inside the cavern, Mavis used her new tail to dust the area a bit and provide a slightly cleaner surface for the human to rest on. Once settled in, the wolf took a seat next to him, bringing her legs up to her chest, and rested her wary head on her knees.
Now that the crazy part of the night had ended, Mavis could really take a moment to let it sink in what had happened.
What she had become.
As the light outside grew brighter, Mavis could see more of her new body. Heart racing and mind buzzing with negative thoughts, she quickly pulled away and hid in the shadows. She was hideous. A monster. Both her dad AND her father would've been so disappointed in her. Disgusted. A weak sniffle escaped out of her body and she started to cry. Why did this happen to her? What had she done to deserve this? After years and years of being warned of the dangers of being a werewolf and stories of people being tricked by lovers into becoming werewolves, it had happened to her. So much for being little miss perfect 'Maiden of Aredelle', or whatever the fuck Todd was on about. Now she was a monster.
A soft hand reached out and touched her leg, reeling her back into reality. Upon seeing who had touched her, she also realized she had reverted back to her human form. Caramel colored legs had been touched by a pale hand. Sergei's hands. There was also another realization that had hit her.
She was naked.
A flurry of emotions came up to the surface, causing her face to turn scarlet red and new tears to stream down from embarrassment, confusion, relief, and grief.
"O-oh shit-" Sergei sat up, startled once he felt skin, and only grew more startled upon seeing her vulnerable state. The human quickly covered his face and took off his jacket, handing it over to her to use as a means of covering up. Thankfully, her body had been covered up decently by her legs, but the jacket would help to hide everything else as best as possible. Once he handed the jacket over to her direction, he turned away, allowing her the privacy needed to cover herself up with the fabric and pull the big jacket over her knees. Thank gods he was a tall guy. At least it could act like a temporary dress until they figure something else out.
"Y-you can turn around n-now..." Mavis whimpered out, wrapping her covered arms around her legs. Blood from her injuries had thankfully stopped flowing a few hours ago, but that didn't make them less sore from the fabrics touching them. In fact, her whole body hurt. The reverting transformation must've taken a toll on her body.
Sergei turned back to look at her. A small glint in his eyes caught her attention, but she cared not to pry into it. Why should she anyway? She was a monster.
"Well I'm... certainly happy to see you are back," He spoke slowly, only stinging Mavis. She kept silent. "Are you... are you feeling okay? Never thought I'd get to the day where I'm asking a werewolf that..." Sergei almost chuckled. A momentary amount of that carnal rage hit her, but she fought it down. More than likely from the exhaustion she felt. Picking up one of the pieces of cloth that was used to cover up her canine nose, she held it in her hand, then spoke.
"I don't..." Pause. "I don't feel okay. I feel like h-hell. I-i'm a monster, Sergei, a monster!" She cried out and covered her head with her arms. More muffled cries came out. "I-i married a monster! I-i had no c-choice! B-but I still married a monster! A-and now I'm one!" Mavis sobbed some more, her body trembled at the intense emotions she was experiencing. "I-i was so lost at first! I-i could hear everyone and it felt like my b-body was on fire! T-then I felt so ANGRY! I-i've never felt that angry before in my life! A-and I-i wanted to eat you! I-i should be dead!!" Those words slipped out and she realized just how bad her situation really was.
With her being a monster, she should straight up be dead. What would've happened if she did eat Sergei? What then?
That sadness and fear only made her crying far louder.
It took Sergei actively pulling her closer to him and forcing her to look up for her to calm down enough to be a sniffling mess.
"You're not a monster, Mavis. I-i mean, you are, but you're not. It's... hard to explain. You haven't done anything to warrant being called a monster. You're still you, just cursed. We'll figure out how to fix this, okay?" Sergei held her chin up and gave her a stern look. "I meant it when I said I wanted to be with you. If it means figuring out a way to undo this or living with it, I'll do it." He held her red face, letting her snivel for a bit, before she wrapped her arms around his neck. Her senses were still acutely higher than they had been previously. She could still hear that heart beat. At least now... it wasn't so in her face as before. Nor did she feel hunger at the smell of his dried blood.
Her blue-green eyes turned up to his red ones and soon, she found his lips to be placed on her forehead.
It made her smile. He was here with her. Alive. Even if she's forever stuck like this... at least he'd be with her. That's all she could ask for right now.
Part 3- Written by Jackie
About a week had passed since the initial night of Mavis' transformation. A week since that horrible night that left her in the body of a wolf by night, and a human by day. A week after the discovery of the famous wolf hunter, Sergei of Aredelle, still alive and kicking. Weak, sure, but alive. Of course, all this traveling around and struggling to find any solid sources of food had left his body in a state of pure weakness, and his pride was unwilling to allow Mavis to even attempt to hunt for them. Even with her senses being acutely higher than before, he would allow her no chances to try and keep each other alive.
Even so, she managed to use her knowledge of the local flora to at least feed both of them food from the forest.
Although it wasn't enough to keep Sergei on his feet.
It was rather fortunate that in the cover of night, as Mavis and Sergei traveled, they stumbled upon an old, worn down building. It was right on the outskirts of Mavis' home town, causing her to wag her new tail out of excitement. There didn't appear to be any particular smells either, so it seemed they'd have a better place to stay for the night before they could finally make it to town the next morning! Things were all going according to plan.
At least... that was the case until they took their first step inside the building and the floor broke underneath them, causing them to tumble down into an underground slide. Mavis let out the loudest yelp while Sergei brought her up to his body in an attempt to shield her from the future impact they would have. Which... isn't really easy, with Mavis' inner beast panicking at the drop, causing her to squirm around quite a bit.
Even so, they managed to make it down the slide and land on something rather soft.
"Urg..." Sergei grumbled, lightly pushing Mavis off of him, who then helped him up from the soft landing spot. "Hay..?" The hunter muttered, crouching down to study the pile, while Mavis used her newly acquired abilities to sniff the area for any danger. A particularly strong smell hit her nose and she lightly tugged on her lover's jacket. He glanced up at her and pulled himself back up, allowing her to help guide him through the dark basement. As well as her sense of smell being improved, her eyesight was vastly improved. Although, anything was an improvement from her having to wear glasses, which have long since gone missing since that horrible night.
They made their way down the basement's oddly long hallway, down a flight of stairs, before stumbling upon a closed door. Mavis whimpered, the smell much stronger through that doorway then it was where they were before. It didn't help that the smell made her stomach grumble. There was definitely some kind of meat behind this doorway. Delicious meat. She shook her head and wrapped her hand around her muzzle while Sergei opened the door, revealing a couple of wolves chowing down on some unknown meat. The human quickly pulled out his gun while Mavis jerked back, and he aimed it at the closest wolf. This wolf was brownish-white with bright yellow eyes, and it stared directly at the human and his companion as Sergei's hand pulled the trigger.
As the trigger was pulled, the other wolf, gray in color, quickly pushed the other away, before yelling out, "What the fuck are you doing?!" The voice was feminine and rather clear, similar to Todd's voice. It made Mavis shiver.
Behind them, a bark alerted the two intruders that they were now surrounded. With Sergei trying to make sure his gun's revolver had the next bullet in place, Mavis turned around to try and defend her weakened human lover. Only... her eyes were immediately on a pair of some strangely familiar blue ones. Very, very familiar, in fact.
Mavis' heart began to race as she searched her mind for any memories of those blue eyes. All while Sergei managed to load up his gun and take aim at the wolf couple inside the room.
That's when it hit her.
Dad?
Just as the human started to pull the trigger, the brown wolf charged forward and knocked the gun out of his hand. Something that wouldn't have been so easy if the Russian wasn't so weak from his injuries and starvation. Still though, Sergei pulled out his dagger, ready to strike again when the blue eyed wolf pulled on the back of his jacket. Mavis lashed out and scratched the wolf's arm, growling a threat that warned not to touch him. This wolf, a fiery colored one, got the message pretty quickly and let go of the human, who stumbled backwards into Mavis' arms. She held him for a moment, growling at the three wolves. The three of them all stared at the two lovebirds for a bit, before the gray one nodded to the fiery one, then ran off deeper into the meat smelling room.
The smell was making her mouth water, but she was absolutely determined to protect Sergei, who was breathing heavily. Most definitely upset at his physical state.
Finally, at what felt like forever, the fiery wolf spoke up. His voice was just as clear as the gray one's voice, as well as very, very familiar. Mavis' ears lowered down and she only grumbled as the male spoke to her calmly, "We're very sorry for spooking you both. That was not our intention, even though you two did somehow sneak into this building. I assume it's from the old Wolf Hunter's trap upstairs," As he spoke, he took a couple of cautious steps forward, making Sergei stand up, rather shakily, and pull out his pocket knife. A last resort weapon. Mavis' breath halted as the werewolf looked down at the weapon and sighed. "Look, we're not gonna hurt either of you. Can you please put that weapon away so we can talk civilly?"
"Oh really now? Like you mutts can be civil! You're in there eating human meat!"
"Human meat?" The brown wolf behind the fiery one blinked, "Human meat is so disgusting and fatty. No, you stupid human, that's a cow! Tell them Fox!" The wolf whined, getting a stern glare from the initial wolf. Fox. Fox.
Mavis whined a bit behind Sergei and pulled him back, but he held his ground. "Mavis, stop. They're tricking us. Cover up your nose, I don't need that smell infecting you either." His words stung, and it was clear to this Fox guy that she was rather new to this whole thing.
His eyes glanced from the human to the white wolf, who avoided eye contact with him. If this was her dad, then... What would that mean? Her father lied to her? About killing him? Mavis didn't want to believe it... did she?
"Your... friend there seems like she's just been changed. She's getting meat shivers just by being here. We have a nice buffet downstairs! Why don't you two just come with me, alright?" He reached his hand out to the human, returning his sapphire gaze to ruby ones. The human only lashed out and struck the wolf in the hand, causing a surprised yip to escape his mouth and for Sergei to grab Mavis and sprint towards the meat room. The brown wolf made no effort to stop them and just allowed them to run while they went to treat their friend's injured hand.
Mavis' brain could barely process what was going on.
Where was Sergei even trying to take them? There was virtually nowhere to go! Plus, Mavis could hear running all around them. She tried to stop him. Tried to slow him down. It didn't matter though, they were yet again cornered, this time by several new wolves, all of varying sizes and colors. They growled at the two intruders, keeping both of them stuck in place. This didn't seem to waver the human though, who kept his pocket knife out and waved it, threatening to cut up any wolf that got too close to them. Mavis could hear his heart racing, faster and faster, and she could even smell fear rising from him. He was good at masking it physically, but she knew if she could smell it, so could they. And even with her limited knowledge on werewolves, she knows fear will cause them to attack. So she pulled him back and growled back at the wolves, willing to defend him. He was weak. So incredibly weak! Why was he even trying to threaten them when it was a losing battle! Why was she even threatening them? She had no experience in fighting, and the only reason she ever even fought back against Todd was a... a feeling.
She didn't know what to do without that feeling. If anything, all she felt was fear and worry. As well as confusion. Mavis had no idea if that was her dad back there. No idea if it was just a skill that werewolves had that allows them to mimic people's voices, but even so, it didn't explain the eyes.
Shaking those thoughts aside, she perked her ears up at a whistle, and turned to meet the same fiery colored wolf, who seemed to have been the leader of this group of wolves. They quickly stood up and backed off, allowing him to come in to investigate the scene. Mavis kept low to the ground and kept close to Sergei, who grabbed at her coat and held his knife up at the leader. Fox stood and stared at the human for a long while, until it seemed that Sergei's body physically couldn't handle any more adrenaline. He crumpled forward and hit the ground rather hard, making Mavis panic and quickly reach out to pick him up. To hold him close. With him currently out of commission, she had no idea what was to happen now. Her jaw trembled and she looked up at the fiery colored wolf, who stared down at her with those same sapphire blues. This made her feel really, really angry. Without much of a second thought, she lunged forward at him. He moved to the side and her nose hit the wall, making her cry out in surprise. "Calm down, little one." The wolf cooed, walking over to her currently rubbing the blood from her nose, "I know this is very confusing and very, very scary, but I can assure you no one is going to hurt you or your human friend. Please trust me when I say this. I went through a very similar and confusing time myself with my brother when I was turned." He placed a soft hand on her face and turned her bloodied muzzle up to his face. His eyes shown for a moment, as if recognizing her. "Mavis..?"
"Sir, the human is still breathing, should we go ahead and take him to the infirmary?" A wolf asked nearby, startling the leader. As quickly as he was startled, he brushed himself off and stood up, helping Mavis up from the floor.
"Yes yes. Go ahead and take him to the infirmary. Daylight is almost upon us, so please be sure to get a change of clothes on, and find some for our dear guest here," He looked back down at Mavis, whose ears lowered back at the realization that yeah, she was about to be naked again, and with Sergei still wearing his bloodied up jacket, she had nothing to cover herself up in. "Don't fret, we keep a supply of clothes available for times like these. We should be able to get you something comfortable to wear, dear." Mavis wasn't completely sure about all this, but being exhausted and sore, and with Sergei now being carried off by two black hounds, she had no choice, did she? The fiery wolf offered her a small smile of comfort before nodding to a nearby female wolf to take her to the laundry room so she can be prepared for the morning.
-----------------
Sure enough, the morning did come and Mavis reverted back to her human form. The girl before her though remained a wolf. Even after Mavis had changed, she remained in that form and took her out of the room to a room stocked with tables. Those tables had steaming piles of freshly made food, causing the young girl's mouth to water uncontrollably. With that heightened sense of smell, the food just smelled far more delicious. And thankfully, it wasn't just meat either. The wolf girl stood up and pushed Mavis forward towards the fiery leader, announcing their presence with a grunt.
Fox turned around and smiled down at the two. He was a human as well. That told Mavis everything. This was her daddy. Her biological father. Not much seemed to have changed, other than his face had a pale scar on his nose, and his hair was starting to grey. His smile was replaced with a surprise frown, then he scooped up Mavis and held her in his arms. Reminiscent of her childhood years. "It is you! I shouldn't have questioned it for a second!" He cooed out loudly, getting a few raised eyebrows from some nearby humans and wolves. Mavis flushed with embarrassment and joy. Her dad was alive!
Then why didn't he come see her?
Once he placed her on the ground, she looked up at him, puffing up her chest a bit as a stream of emotions escaped out her body in the form of tears. Mavis had to hold back from letting out a guttural cry. Instead, voice shaking, she asked, "W-why didn't you see me if you were alive all this time?"
Her dad's face fell and he sighed warily. Despite not having his glasses anymore, presumably for the same reason, he still conveyed all those familiar facial expressions. "Mavis... I wanted to, I really did. Unfortunately though, I gained word that a famous werewolf hunter had come to town, and with me just recently being turned, I couldn't risk endangering you, your siblings, or your mother. I had to go," he explained softly, "I... also heard that your mother abandoned you three after I died. I'm so sorry for that."
Mavis looked away from him for a bit, processing this information, before she sighed and turned back to him. "I-i suppose I understand... I couldn't ask for you to sacrifice yourself to come see me..." her expression was still one of sadness. He was right. Once word got out that the chief in command of the guards died and gave his second in command the right to father his kids, their mother fled. Mavis really had no idea why. It was rather upsetting to say the least. That wasn't mentioning her two older siblings, who fled the town the second they had the chance. Before a dowry could be put on either of them. Imagine what would've happened if everyone found out her father lied about mercy killing her dad?
A shudder at the thought hit her spin.
Her father placed a hand on her back and led her over to a table full of many kinds of foods. "Here, you can't possibly think well if you're hungry. If you'd like, you can bring your friend some food as well. That poor man was skin and bones." He sighed, before another human call him over to discuss something. Mavis stood there for a moment, unsure if she should take the food. Her appetite won out though, and she made a plate of food for herself and ate at a nearby bench, alone. Taking a bite of turkey, her mouth erupted with flavors and excitement. Despite that, she tried to process all her thoughts while she sat here. It just... happened to be a lot at once.
First, her husband turns out to be a werewolf. Then the person she had a huge crush on that she thought was killed turned out to be alive. And then she becomes a werewolf! Oh, oh! She also found out her father was a werewolf! A leading werewolf, no less! How great! An exhausted sigh escaped her nose as she took a depressed bite of her biscuit. It didn't satisfy her as much as the turkey did, but at this moment, it didn't particularly matter. Mavis just needed to get something other then berries and edible weeds in her stomach.
Her eyes glanced up to look at all the werewolves around her, still unsure how much she should trust them. Then again, her father was one of them. They...could be trusted, right?
Once she finished eating, she placed her dirty plate next to the rest, before she made her way to figuring out where the infirmary was. She wanted to bring Sergei something to eat, even if he decides not to eat right away. Besides... Mavis wanted to scope out a bit more of the area anyways.
Walking up to her no longer busy father, she took a deep sigh and looked up at him. "Dad, um, I-i would like to know where the infirmary is. I-i'd like to bring Sergei something to eat." Her dad looked down at her and smiled.
"Alright. Go ahead and make his plate and I'll lead you right to him. I thought you'd like to talk a bit more too."
Mavis nodded her head, and ran off to make a quick plate for Sergei. Just some chicken, rice, and a biscuit. Enough to fuel him up a bit and encourage his health to improve. Once finished, she met up with her dad next to the exiting door, and together, they walked down the hallway.
Mavis could hear her father's faint heartbeat as they walked. "Did father tell you w-who I married?" She asked. "H-has he told you much of anything about me, a-actually?"
"He has. He tells me you did great with your studies, and you had someone else willing to pay your dowry before they died. I believe it was that famous wolf hunter, hm?" He glanced down at her, making her heart skip a beat. Her father had been telling him things! Did he tell her dad about... that situation? The memories of her first ever kiss lingered to her mind. Simpler times, before she was cursed. "I didn't want to make assumptions just yet, as I hadn't seen pictures of the man myself, but might that human be Sergei, by chance? He certainly has the training to fit the description of a wolf hunter."
Mavis almost wanted to laugh at her dad's observations. How had he not a clue who Sergei was? The man was very famous! Then again, she had to keep in mind that he's never seen what the Russian looked like. Much less recognize a weakened version of him. Instead, she nodded her head, "Yes, he's Sergei. He... saved me from a werewolf once."
"What a good man," her father purred lightly, "I'm glad it turns out that he's alive. Although, I can't say the same for your husband. Todd Scott of Windellow, if I'm correct? He's rather infamous here, several women here knew his father." The leader sighed, "we've been trying to go after him for ages now, and when I got word Stanley Scott's son paid for my daughter's dowry, that fueled the fire more. By the time I was able to tell Shadow, your father, it was too late. You had been sent off to Windellow, and the wedding bells were getting ready to be rung. It's been a very hectic week..." He scratched his chin before letting out a sigh. "I'm... very sorry for getting you caught up in all of this. I never, ever wanted any of my kids to go through what I had to go through. It's... it's hard. Torturous, some might say."
Mavis' jaw trembled as she listened to him talk. She could feel his pain like it was her own. Nothing new, she was born with that innate ability to just... feel others emotions. Was it always going to be torturous? Was there even a cure?
Her dad pressed his hand on her head as he spoke again, "but it isn't all bad. Once I learned to control those instincts that come with these changes, I grew to use it to my advantage. I'm faster, stronger, and much more powerful then I had been before. I learned to use it to better both werewolves and humans. I take in those that are new, like you, and help them overcome those instincts. They choose to stay, or they go off to do the same as me. I'll even take in those who've been this way for a long time, and allow them a new chance to redeem themselves. Of course... you can't always help those who don't want to help themselves, and we've had to turn in information about hideouts from other werewolves. We were about to do the same to the Scott's until... things kind of became more personal with you being involved." Her dad admitted.
"Oh..." Mavis blinked, looking ahead for a bit. She hadn't thought about there being such a thing as a good werewolf. She just knew they were all bad. Guess someone can learn something new everyday... "So... you help people? L-like a good guy?" Mavis looked up at him.
"Mhm," he smiled, stopping in front of a new door. The infirmary. "It eases the pain of these new abilities and emotions. Once you get a grasp of it, it really isn't so bad. I don't feel like a monster anymore." As he spoke, he opened up the door for both of them, "maybe I can give you some help with your new form, only if you want. I'd like you to make the decision on your own, of course, and I know how stressful all this is."
Once he finished speaking, they were met with a very grumpy human man. He had been tied back into the bed, a sign he had been struggling and fighting before, all while another guy cleaned up his wounds. "Good gods, please stop grumbling, sir." The human huffed, brown hair fluffed upwards in a very messy way. Yet, Mavis quickly caught on that this was the brownish wolf from before. Weird...
Her dad cleared his throat, dragging both guy's attention up to the two newcomers. "Matt," Her dad greeted the other werewolf.
"Oh! Maxwell! What a lovely surprise. Does she also need to be looked over? I do recall a wound being on her arm, I can give that a glance over?"
Mavis' body shivered. Yeah, she had that wound still. Worse still, any private chance she had, she ended up licking it while in that canine form. It just seemed like her body was aware of what to do, but it disgusting nonetheless. From what she could tell, it hadn't yet infected, but she has also been more focused on Sergei recovering that she kind of forgot her own wounds. Her shoulders still ached from Todd biting down on them in their tussle that fateful night. Since they were on such an awkward part of her body, she had no idea how they were doing.
Before she had the chance to accept being looked over, Sergei spoke up, "don't let him touch you!"
Her dad raised an eyebrow at the young man, before he gently pushed his daughter forward, "Sergei, I think it's rather rude to make decisions for her. Mavis, would you mind if Matt looked over some of your wounds. I can assure you he's very good at his job."
Mavis' lips thinned as Sergei grumbled again. He was really not having a good time. For some odd reason, she felt partially responsible. If she was better at defending herself, then he would've never gotten into this mess in the first place. He would actually be busy doing his own thing, not worrying at all about her. Not worrying about some wolf hurting her again.
It wasn't fair.
But she swallowed down those feelings as best as possible. No point in dwelling on what's already happened. "I would like my arm to be looked at. A-and I've gotta a couple of b-bites on my shoulders..." she avoided eye contact with Sergei, knowing he'd disapprove of her decision. Matt walked over to her and guided her to a nearby cot, placing Sergei's plate of food on the small table next to the bedbound human. He sat her down and began to look at her arm.
"Oh wow, this is rather clean! I'll just put some alcohol on it and wrap some guaze around it, that way it'll remain clean," He then pointed to her shoulders, "I'm gonna need to see those shoulders now."
She nodded, then worked on unbuttoning a couple of buttons for the ease of pulling her arms free. Nearby, Sergei proceeded to work on freeing himself. Matt turned to look and yelled at him, "Hey! Stop that! You're gonna hurt yourself, stupid!" Once he spoke out, Maxwell walked over to the human and sat with him to talk to him about their organization. At least distracting him enough to keep Mavis focused on what she was doing.
Mavis pulled down the shirt enough to expose the injuries on her shoulder. Matt examined the wounds carefully, before walking off to bring some cleaning supplies and other things. The werewolf girl sighed softly and turned to look at Sergei. He seemed to have calmed down a bit. Thank goodness for that...
Matt came back with some supplies, and got to work cleaning her wounds up. It didn't take too long, although it hurt quite a bit. Thankful, with it happening so fast, she was able to almost immediately button up her top again and sit down with Sergei right at the end of Maxwell conversing with the human.
"...with you being a wolf hunter, maybe we could join forces and work on taking out the Scott's pack? It'd be good to take down one of the most dangerous packs in this corner of the world."
Sergei made a 'hm' sound, as if to consider this idea. However, Mavis could see that glint in his eyes. He was going to deny the offer. "As tempting as the offer is, I would rather take care of that pack on my own." He sighed and glanced over to Mavis, who gave a disapproving look. "Look, I know you don't want me going into the lion's den all alone Mavis, but I am trained to do that. These mutts are... well, mutts. Whose to say they won't decide to betray us? How do we know any of what he says is even the truth? Mavis, werewolves are tricky creatures! They'll do anything just to make you their next meal!"
Maxwell remained silent while Mavis' blood ran cold.
Was she going to be that way too then?
"A-am I like that too, Sergei?"
The Russian opened his mouth, as if to speak, but realized what he had been saying. Dawning on him how hurtful his words had become, he quickly shut his mouth and bowed his head.
"A-answer me."
Her voice was serious despite the shakiness within her voice. Mavis wanted to know what made her so different from other werewolves. She hadn't attacked him, nor caved into those desires to just eat him. Her father had been able to control those urges for years! Why exactly were they so different?
"Mavis..." he started. "Mavis, you know I don't mean you, correct?"
"W-well, how do I know that? You keep saying all werewolves are bad! W-well, am I bad?" She huffed, "E-even though I never laid my teeth or c-claws on you, a-am I still a monster? A-and if so, why h-haven't you killed me?" Her eyes started to water from the anger and sadness she was feeling. Built up from the past week of already struggling to deal with her new identity, and her own lover's issues with the creatures she had now become. Even if he had comforted her that first night, it was now growing increasingly uncomfortable and upsetting to her that she'd be seen as a monster. If there was no cure for it, which it sems there wasn't, then was he just going to get sick of her? eems there wasn't, then was he just gonna up and leave her? Or even kill her? What exactly separated her from the man on the other side of Sergei's cot? Her fists trembled a bit as she stared at him, unsure of what to think about any of this.
Sergei remained incredibly quiet. Maxwell took this moment to allow them some privacy while he and Matt stepped outside. Once they were outside, Sergei forced himself to sit up and squirm a bit in his bindings. Once he got more comfortable, he looked at Mavis. "I... suppose I have been taking this anti-werewolf thing a bit too far, haven't I?"
Mavis wanted to laugh. "A bit too far?" She asked, wide eyed and hurt.
"You know what I mean, Mavis..." He sighed, "Look, I'm really sorry. I should've been much more careful with my words. Especially when none of them are directed towards you. When you've been in the industry as long as I have, you learn pretty quickly to just safely assume all werewolves are... well, dangerous. I haven't personally met werewolves that were very nice and friendly that weren't looking for a bite to eat. That isn't to say it is absolutely unheard of for some wolves to be genuine." Sergei admitted, then continued, "I just... personally never met any. You would be the first kind werewolf I've ever encountered, and I'm very sorry for making you think I thought of you as a monster. I truly don't. I'm sorry for not taking your feelings into consideration, and I'm even more sorry for insulting your dad. I know it means a lot to you to see your family, and I only said those things out of... well..."
"Fear?"
"Yes."
Mavis' face fell a little and she let out a little sigh, then placed a hand on his hand. "Sergei... I forgive you. I know t-this sort of thing doesn't happen that often to you, a-and I shouldn't be so upset or hurt by those words. B-but they do hurt a lot. I-i never wanted to be a monster, nor did I ever ask to marry one..."
"I know you didn't."
"Can we... c-can you at least try to trust them, for me? I-if they turn out to be liars, then I-i'll... I-i'll um... I-i'll never suggest anything again."
Sergei snorted and shook his head, "Look Mavis. I'm gonna trust them if you trust them. I have currently no real reason to distrust them, other than what they are. I'm not gonna make you stop suggesting things over this, alright?" Mavis smiled a little as Sergei placed his other hand over hers and squeezed, "'Sides, I'm not really in the best condition physically, as I'm sure you and them have noticed. If I'm allowed a moment to rest and heal, then I suppose I should take it."
She giggled a little and leaned close to hug him. He placed a light peck on her forehead.
"I don't think any less of you, by the way Mavis. I still care about you deeply, and when I kill that bastard, Todd, I promise you we'll get married. Whether or not you're still a werewolf, I will be with you."
Mavis smiled a little at the idea, daydreaming a bit about their wedding. Of course, she had to pull her head out the clouds a bit and look up at her lover. "You shouldn't go fighting that pack alone. Please consider my dad's offer, at least? I-if you won't let him help, then let me or other hunters help. I don't want you to die, for real this time..." Sergei's face tensed up and for a moment, she thought he was going to immediately turn her down. But he softened up and nodded his head slowly.
"Alright, fine. Only because that last fight took too much out of me and you ended up becoming a wolf."
Mavis smiled widely and pressed her lips against Sergei's lips, extremely pleased by his answer. She pulled away just as his face started to turn red, "Thank you Sergei...! N-now I should probably leave you alone to eat and rest, shouldn't I?"
"Er- yeah- y-yes please. Thank you Mavis."
With that, she handed him his lukewarm food, gave him another hug, and walked out of the infirmary, finding no one standing outside. It was peaceful. A yawn escaped her mouth, letting her know it was time for a much deserved rest.
