RNHS Chapter 8

As the oath taking ceremony ends, all walk towards their respective classes. Rajveer, whose eyes were on Naina the whole time since the end of the ceremony, walks towards her, his anger visible in his eyes. Angry because he doesn't miss how she was avoiding to look towards him the whole time.

Naina realizes his decreasing towards her. She indulges herself into talking to a female cadet before he could reach her and ask her anything. Rajveer stops his steps as he finds her talking to a female cadet, he somehow understands that she did this on purpose, but why, he fails to understand. Glaring her for the last time, he turns to leave for his room.
As he leaves, Naina slowly looks towards him, going away, her eyes turn sorrowful.

Walking with Ali, Pooja shares with him how she is not very happy about the fact that Captain Abhimanyu has been chosen the Vice Principal.

"Ali mujhe pata nahi kyun aisa lag raha hai, jaise KMA ka cross connection lag gaya hai. Bus ab to galat calls ke aney ki deri hai",

says Pooja.

"Pooja ji hum kuch samjhe nahi!",

says Ali, confused.

"Oye ye geet gata banjara, Captain Abhimanyu, Vice Principal jo bann gaye hain!",

Pooja rolls her eyes saying so.

"Aap aisa kaise keh sakti hain? Unhe ek mauka to dijiye. Humein pura yakeen hai ke wo apne position ko bakhubhi sambhal payenge",

says Ali, confident about Captain Abhimanyu's leadership.

"Oye tu kehna kya chahta hai Ali, ke Captain Rajveer se achey hain Captain Abhimanyu?",

asks Pooja, halting at her place and turning to look towards Ali, knitting her brows.

"Aap please humein galat mat samjhiye. Hum na Captain Abhimanyu ke saath hai aur na Captain Rajveer ke khilaf. Hum bus ye jante hain ke faisla bilkul evenly liya gaya hai. Dono hi iss position ke kabil hain par best wala hi jeeta hai. Captain Abhimanyu ne best perform kiya to wo jeet gaye. Par iska matlab ye nahi ke hum Captain Rajveer ke kabiliyat par shaq kar rahe hain!",

clarifies Ali, getting slightly nervous.

Turning to look forward, sadly, Pooja says, dreamly,

"Jo bhi ho yaar, main to Shahrukh ka connection judte hue dekhna chahti thi Vice Principal ke post se".

"Hum samajh rahe hain Pooja ji, par sirf favourite hone se kisi ko koi position de de ye zaruri bhi to nahi na."

Pooja looks towards Ali, unable to believe that he is actually saying this.

"Oye tu hosh mein to hai Ali?",

scolds Pooja.

"Pooja ji humara matlab...",

begins Ali, scared, how to make her understand.

"Rehne de Ali, tere cross connection ki to mujhey aadat si ho gayi hai. Pehle wo Major Bhargava aur ab Captain Abhimanyu!",

says Pooja, pissed off, and leaves.

Ali stares her helplessly.

"Pooja ji humari baat to suniye",

calls Ali, tensed, but Pooja leaves nevertheless.

At the mess

Sitting on a chair, Huda asks, pissed off,

"Yaar mujhey to samjh nahi aa raha wo geet gata banjara Vice Principal ke post ke liye kaise select ho gaya?"

"Jaise hote hain!",

comes a plain reply from Alekh, as always not caring about anyone's reaction to his words, as he places Huda's cup of coffee on the table.

Huda turns towards him out of anger and asks,

"Oye Qaidi mujhey aisa kyun lag raha hai ke tu uss geet gatey banjare ke jeetne se bohot khush hai?"

"Boley to humare teacher hain khush to hoga hi apun!",

replies Alekh, coolly, turning to look towards him.

"Kya? Humare?",

asks Huda, melodramatically.

"Bhul gaya kya tu? Orderly ko koi parhata nahi hai!",

taunts Huda, as it becomes unbearable for him that he is taking Abhimanyu's side over Captain Rajveer's.

Alekh shoots angry glares towards Huda on listening his taunt.

Getting angry Huda asks,

"Abey saley tu bhul gaya, Captain Rajveer ne tujhey insaan bannane ke liye kya kya kiya hai?"

Alekh getting highly angry, says,

"Abey a chikne, apun na to kuch bhulta hai aur na hi auron ko kuch bhulne deta hai!"

Huda smiles sarcastically, looking away.

"Sala! Thoda hans bol kya liya wo ghunghrale baalo wala, chala chamchagiri karne",

says Huda, unable to stand that Alekh is favouring Captain Abhimanyu over Captain Rajveer.

"Tu bhi to shuru mein Captain Rajveer ke khilaf tha, thodi madad kya kar di unhone tujhey insaan banane mein, tu unke talwe chatne laga?",

retorts Alekh, calmly.

This boils Huda's blood, getting up he pulls Alekh by his collar and gestures a punch in front of him.

Thankfully Yudi reaches them at the correct moment and stops them there.

"Stop it guys. What's wrong with you both?",

shouts Yudi, refraining Huda to move ahead, by standing in front of him and holding him by his shoulders.

"Oye Yudiye, meri baat yaad rakhiyo, ye insaan kisi ka saga nahi ho sakta",

warns Huda, looking towards Yudi with his eyes blazing with anger.

Yudi turns to look towards Alekh, knitting his brow. Meanwhile Huda jerks himself out of Yudi's grip and leaves for his room.

Captain Rajveer was signing some papers, standing with an orderly, when Naina happens to cross by him. Her heartbeat picks up pace as she was busy thinking about something and doesn't realize that she needs to skip walking from this place as Rajveer is standing there. And when she does realize it, it gets too late! She finds herself in a dilemma, whether to turn back and take another corridor or pass by him, ignoring him completely.

As he notices her there through his peripheral vision, his speed of reading the papers decreases. She seems to be distracted, different! What is it? If he knows her correctly, so by now, she would have rushed to him, to talk to him. But may be she doesn't exactly have anything to share with him? He rejects the thought as soon as it enters his mind, when has she ever needed a reason to meet him? And even if she has, she chooses any random thing to share with him, even if it's not that important to share with him. Where is his Naina?

As Naina senses him coming to her, she calls out Alekh, who happens to be walking to somewhere at a distance.

At first, on hearing Naina's voice, Alekh turns to look towards Naina, bearing a smile on his face. But as soon as he turns to look towards her, his smile vanishes, as he finds Captain Rajveer standing behind her at a distance. His face expression explains Alekh how confused and irritated he is right now!

Alekh who uptil now was all set to tease Naina, gets nervous on seeing Rajveer there.

"Haan.... haan Naina...",

says Alekh, nervously, looking sometimes towards Naina other times towards Rajveer.

"Alekh tujhse kuch important baat karni thi kya hum baat kar sakte hain?",

asks Naina, completely aware of Rajveer's eyes on her.

"Haan... haan chal",

says Alekh, nervously, changing his glances from Rajveer to Naina then back to Rajveer.

"Alekh!",

calls Captain Rajveer, as Alekh and Naina turn to leave together.

They don't turn immediately, but heartbeats of both Alekh and Naina pick up paces as they sense him walking towards them.

Walking to them, Rajveer though standing behind Alekh, says, turning to look towards Naina,

"Mujhey 'bhi' Alekh se kuch baat karni hai!",

emphasizing on 'bhi'.

"Ahmm... Alekh main mess mein hun, jab bhi tu free ho jaye mujhse mil liyo",

says Naina, ignoring Rajveer completely.

"Ya hum dono ek saath baat kar sakte hain Alekh se? Main tumhari problem bhi solve kar dunga!",

proposes Rajveer.

A naughty smile comes on Alekh's face and he looks towards Rajveer, all naughty ideas going through his mind.

Showing off himself to be serious, Alekh turning to look towards Rajveer, asks him,

"Aap... apko kaise pata ke Naina apun se kuch problem share karne wali hai?"

Sighing, Rajveer says acting to be sad,

"Naina tumhare aur mere paas tabhi ati hai jab usse koi problem hoti hai!",

he makes a puppy face.

Alekh arches a brow, smiling naughtily.

Looking through the corner of his eyes, he says,

"Waise ye... baat... to aap bilkul sahi bol rahe ho Sir".

This boils Naina's blood.

"Alekh main tere paas sirf tab aati hun jab mujhey koi problem ho?",

asks Naina, shooting daggers towards Alekh through her eyes.

"Ruk sochne de....!",

says Alekh, acting to be scared of her anger.

After thinking, he concludes, smiling,

"Nahi! Nahi Sir aisi baat nahi hai... boley to jab problem solve nahi hoti tab bhi ye apun ke paas aati hai apun ko ye batane ke mamla jama nahi!"

Naina widens her eyes on hearing Alekh's words.

Rajveer and Alekh, purse their lips to refrain themselves from laughing.

"Alekh...!",

she shouts, and before he could explain further, Naina runs after him, thankfully Alekh anticipates the chase and takes a flight before she steps forth.

(Left Right Left tune begins)

Standing at his place, Rajveer laughs, enjoying witnessing this chase game between the duo.

"In short Cadet Naina Ah Singh ko tumhare aur mere siwaye koi nahi jhel sakta. Right Cadet Alekh?",

shouts Rajveer, to make himself audible to them.

Naina and Alekh stop at this. While Alekh's giggle increases on hearing him, Naina's face turn red out of blush and embarrassment.

Turning, giving him a last look, an intimate look which warns him to stop teasing her, Naina turns away, blushing, smiling she leaves.

(Rajveer-Naina happy tune begins as they stare each other)

Alekh standing there understands whatever goes on between them, smiling he looks away, like a true brother, feeling shy on witnessing his sister's romance with her partner!

Staring her still, wondering why has she suddenly started resisting herself from talking to him, Rajveer walks towards Alekh, his face still turned behind, towards the way through which Naina just left and his steps moving forward towards Alekh.

Engulfing Alekh by his shoulders, he asks him, confused,

"Yaar ye tumhari dost ko ho kya gaya hai?"

Alekh finds it amusing, he purses his lips and controls his laughter bubbling in his stomach. Acting to be serious, he places his right hand horizontally over his abdomen and his left hand standing erect on his right hand, such that the fingers of his left hand is touching his lips, he knits his brows melodramatically, turning his head towards Rajveer, as if seriously addressing him, he asks,

"Kyun kya hua?"

"Tabse ajeeb ajeeb harkatein kar rahi hai!",

says Rajveer, concerned.

This gives Alekh another fit of laughter which he controls by a great effort.

"Acha? Kyun Sir aisa kya kiya usne?",

asks Alekh, acting to be concerned.

"Matlab thodi der pehle mere room mein ayi thi...",

shares Rajveer.

Alekh stares him with full interest, his heart almost in his mouth, is his teacher going to share with him his personal stories? Like seriously? Wow!

Suddenly Rajveer remembers the moments he spent with her, his heart skips a beat. Widening his eyes as the realization dawns upon him, he thinks what was he going to do just now? He was about to share his feelings about a sister to her brother? How can he forget Alekh and his relationship status?

Rajveer looks towards him sheepishly. As their eyes meet the look away immediately, feeling shy - Rajveer on realizing what blooper he was about to make and Alekh on realizing what a situation he would have gone through had Rajveer made the blooper! He of course has no interest in knowing what goes on between Captain Rajveer and Naina behind the close doors!

But then he is her brother, he needs to make Rajveer learn that. So what if he is his teacher? Their teacher-student relationship is other thing and this relationship is entirely another thing. Alekh won't compromise when it comes to being Naina's brother, this he needs to make Rajveer aware of!

"To?",

asks Alekh, with voice bearing the dignity of a brother.

Now it's Rajveer's turn to escape from Naina's brother - Alekh's eyes.

"Nahi... Nahi mera matlab...",

says Captain Rajveer, stammering, as he senses that he has walked into a lion's den!

"Matlab usne kuch nahi kiya...!",

Rajveer tries to defend her.

"To fir kisne kiya?",

Alekh glares him.

It's then Rajveer realizes how while trying to defend Naina, he is putting himself into danger. Dealing with traitors, criminals is a different thing, a thing which Captain Rajveer never feels afraid of, but dealing with a brother of a girl, is altogether a different thing. And no denial it's a first for Rajveer, so he is nervous.

Holding his breath, Rajveer tries to explain,

"Dekho! Dekho Alekh, jaisa... jaisa tum soch rahe ho, waisa... waisa kuch nahi hai!"

Then suddenly he realizes what exactly is he doing? He is the teacher and Alekh is his student. Why is he getting afraid of his student? But then he is not only his student but Naina's brother too! That too over protective one.

Thoroughly in dilemma with his emotions, Rajveer shuts his eyes and sighs. Noticing his reactions, Alekh purses his lips, thoroughly enjoying this new side of Captain Rajveer. Alekh quickly changes his expressions to prior one, as Rajveer opens his eyes.

Taking a deep breath, Rajveer looks towards Alekh, and warns him,

"Mera bhi din ayega! After all Neelu meri bhi kuch lagti hai",

winking, smiling teasingly, Rajveer turns and walks away.

Alekh's amusement flushes away and he stands there dumbstruck. When Captain Rajveer has said that, he will do that! And this Alekh knows very well.

Getting afraid, Alekh calls him nervously from behind,

"Sir... Sir... Sir..."

Rajveer, who is turned away from Alekh arches a brow and a smirk of victory comes on his face. Plastering a serious look, he waits for Alekh to reach him.

Reaching him, Alekh stammers whilst saying,

"Apun... apun to mazak kar raha tha. Aap bhi kya...!"

Smiling sarcastically, Rajveer bends a little towards Alekh's ear and whispers,

"Lekin apun mazak nahi kar raha tha!"

Getting away, Rajveer winks, smiling infectiously, and leaves, leaving behind a dumbstruck Alekh.

Sitting at a bench in the central area of KMA, Naina reads her notes. Reaching her, Pooja nudges her,

"Oye tu silent mode par kyun baithi hui hai yahan?",

she asks.

"Kuch nahi Pooja, exams aa rahe hain so parh rahi hun",

replies Naina, whilst learning her notes.

"Haye rabba exams se yaad aaya. Sun mera abhi Suriji ke saath extra class hai. Tu mera ek kaam karegi?",

asks Pooja.

"Haan bol, kya kaam hai?",

says Naina.

Handing Naina over, her notebook, Pooja tells her,

"Wo ye notes dene hain please de degi?"

"Haan sure Pooja, itni si baat. Zarur de dungi",

smiles Naina.

Whilst open the notebook, to checkout the notes, she asks,

"Kisko dena hai?"

"Shahrukh... mera matlab Captain Rajveer ko",

says Pooja, rectifying her words quickly.

This skips Naina's heartbeat. She widens her eyes.

"Ahmmm... Pooja... wo... mujhey pata nahi Rajveer Sir kahan honge. To... tu... tu... Huda ko bol de wo de dega",

suggests Naina, nervously.

"Haye rabba usse dungi to ho gaya mera kaam. Kisi jannani ko call karte karte, mera call hi disconnect kar dega. Fir main puri academy mein apna phone dhundhti firungi",

Pooja rolls her eyes.

"Mera matlab meri copy dhundhti firungi",

rectifies Pooja.

This makes Naina to laugh, followed by Pooja.

"Chal de main de dungi",

says Naina, smiling, shaking her head as she thinks about what Pooja just said.

"Thank you",

says Pooja, getting excited and hugs Naina.

~*~*~

Naina walks out of her next class when Abhimanyu happens to cross by her. Seeing him, Naina smiles and reaches him.

"Next class apke saath hai humari",

reminds Naina.

"Jee haan hum bus wohin ja rahe the",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Abhimanyu hums a song 'ye raatein nayi purani'. This brings a smile on Naina's face.

"Apko pata hai...",

begins Naina only to get interrupted by Abhimanyu.

"Ye Naveen ka one of the favourite tracks tha!",

Abhimanyu completes Naina's line, smiling.

Naina turns to look towards him, smiling.

"Aap janti hain Naina, unhe jab bhi raat ko neend nahi aati thi, wo yahi gana gungunaya karte the",

shares Abhimanyu.

Captain Rajveer joins them from behind, embracing Abhimanyu by his shoulder, standing at Abhimanyu's right side while Naina stands at Abhimanyu's left.

"Aur humein bhi puri raat jagaye rakhta tha! Nahi Chauhan Sahab?",

asks Raj, cherishing olden days.

Naina lowers her eyes, smiling, thinking about Naveen.

Abhimanyu laughs, and says,

"Oh those were the days!"

"Bhaiya jahan bhi honge, I am sure aap dono ke bond ko dekh kar bohot khush honge",

smiles Naina.

It's then that Raj and Abhimanyu remembers their relationship status at the moment. They are not in the best of their friendship. Raj removes his hand from Abhimanyu's shoulder.

Abhimanyu a bit embarrassmed turns to look towards Naina, smiling he says,

"Naina I really hope aap aur apke friends humesha saath rahein. Aap logo mein kabhi kisi prakar ki misunderstanding na ho".

Naina looks into his eyes and nods in affirmative.

"Naina ye baat yaad rakhiyega, apki khushi humare liye bohot important hai!",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Naina nods her head, smiling, looking towards Abhimanyu.

A ping of jealousy surges through Raj. Unable to tolerate it anymore, Raj excuses himself.

"Aap log enjoy kijiye. I have a class to attend. Take care",

smiles Rajveer, looking towards Abhimanyu.

As his eyes rest on Naina, he turns serious then leaves. Naina realizes that something is amiss. She gets tensed thinking how would she deal with this situation.

"Well to our dismay, enjoy to hum nahi kar payenge, kyunki we too have a class to attend",

says Abhimanyu, sighing melodramatically.

"Humein apki class leni hai aur apko humari class attend karni hai",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Naina smiles looking towards Abhimanyu. But her smile doesn't touch her eyes as her mind stays on Captain Rajveer.

As they reach Abhimanyu's class, Naina realizes that she had to give the notebook to Captain Rajveer. But the prevailing situation made her to forget about the notebook altogether.
Naina rolls her eyes at her silliness.
She chooses to deal with the situation later.

As the class begins, Naina pays attention on what Abhimanyu is teaching, but soon she starts getting bored, having already done the chapter by her own. She picks up a copy randomly, and starts writing there,

'Jadu sa chaney laga,
pagal banane laga.
Kuch yaad aney laga,
kuch bhul janey laga.
Kya na kare kya kare,
ye dil kya kare'

~*~*~

She keeps reading it, smiling, blushing. She checks the previous page randomly and finds that Pooja has written something there,

'Pal bhar ke liye koi humein pyar kar le,
jhoota hi sahi.
Do (2) din ke liye koi ikrar kar le,
jhoota hi sahi!'

Naina laughs thinking about Pooja after reading this. She flips through the pages when at a corner she discovers Ali's name written inside a heart.

This skips Naina's heartbeat, she blushes looking at that. She has never done this. But then whose name would she write anyways? Her heart skips a beat as she realizes - whose name would she write! She quickly dismisses the idea as the thought gives her weird sensations, which are though enjoyable yet weird.

Naina realizes that she needs to give this copy to someone else, or else she wouldn't be able to concentrate on her studies, this copy is a distracting element!

She quietly places the copy on Alekh's desk. Alekh who has been sleeping doesn't realize when Naina slips the copy on his desk.

As Alekh wakes up, he discovers the copy there. Knitting his brows, he opens it. He checks the name written on the copy, but fails to read it even after trying to read it for several times.

"Sala Hindi mein kayeko nahi likhte ye naam pata nahi!",

curses Alekh, as he fails to read the name.

Exasperated, Alekh brings out a pen and writes a random song in Hindi, inside the copy.

'Chor aye hum wo galiyan,
jahan tere pairon ke kaval gira karte the.
Hanse to do gaalon mein,
bhawar parha karte the'

As the class ends Alekh at first thinks of taking the copy with him, almost like stealing, then he shakes his head, giving it a second thought. He keeps the copy at it's place, as it doesn't belong to him. Whistling, he walks away.

As Huda passes by Alekh's seat to exit the classroom, he discovers the notebook,

"Abey oh Qaidi...",

he calls out, picking the copy but in vain.

Shaking his head he takes the copy deciding to give him when they meet.

As he was about to exit the class, a female cadet enters, refraining him to leave the class.

"Huda tum free ho?",

she asks sweetly.

(Huda's background tune begins)

Huda's heart flutters on finding a female cadet approaching him herself.

Blushing, getting excited, he says,

"Huda jananiyon ke liye humesha free hota hai!"

The female cadet blushes.

"Ahmmm... meri abhi koi class nahi hai, to maine socha kyun na tumhare saath... thoda time spend kar lun?",

says the female cadets, seductively.

"Haye aise ucch vicchar dimag mein lati raha kar",

says Huda, his excitement increasing gradually.

They sit together on a bench and stare each other romantically.

After enjoying the stare for sometime. They enjoy random talks. Whilst talking, Huda opens the notebook and writes a song, dedicating to the girl,

'Pyar manga hai tumhi se,
na inkaar karo.
Paas baitho zara aaj to,
ikraar karo.
Mujhey pyar karo,
mujhey pyar karo'

After enjoying few moments together, they leave.

As they walk out of the class, engrossed in talking to each other; enjoying each other's company, Huda doesn't realize when the copy slips by his hand and falls on the floor.

Ali picks up the copy and calls Huda from behind,

"Huda bhai....",

but Huda fails to listen to Ali's call.

Shaking his head, Ali enters an empty classroom, as he feels low.

"Ammi-Abbu, aaj aap dono ki bohot yaad aa rahi hai",

mutters Ali, entering a vacant classroom to spend some time alone.

He doesn't realize when he drifts into the land of old memories. He starts cherishing few amazing moments he spent with his family.

Smiling, his eyes brim with tears on remembering them. He gets an urge to pen down his feelings somewhere. He opens the notebook and unconsciously opens a random blank page and writes,

'Ye to such hai ke bhagwan hai,
hai magar fir bhi anjaan hai.
Dharti pe roop ma-baap ka,
uss vidhata ki pehchaan hai'

Getting emotional, Ali picks up the copy in a haste and leaves the room.
As he heads towards the next class, he collides with another cadet and doesn't realize when his copy slips off.

Captain Rajveer who happens to cross by that place, finds the copy lying on the floor. Picking it up, he looks around to check if he could find someone who is searching for his or her loat notebook, he might return it.

He decides to open the first page of the notebook in order to check the name to whom this notebook belongs. But coincidently in his process of checking out the first page, he ends up opening a page where he discovers Naina's handwriting.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina guitar tune begins)

Smiling, he shakes his head, closing the notebook, he leaves for his next class. Assuming that the copy belongs to Naina, he decides to hand it over to her whenever he meets her.
