The dinner date
Calum's P.O.V
Calum stood at the stove, cooking dinner. He looked at Dove, who was sat at the kitchen table, drawing pictures.
"Dove, dinner's nearly ready, clean up your drawings, please." He spoke before turning back to the stove. He looked at her.
"Dove, what did I just tell you? Clean up." He scoffed.
"One second, daddy." She huffed.
"Now, Dove." He spoke, putting the food onto two plates and carrying them to the table.
"Dinner. Drawings away." He demanded, putting them into a pile and putting them on the side.
"I was going to clean them up." She mumbled.
"When, Dove? I asked you four times and I still had to do it." He scoffed. She looked down, pushing the food around her plate.
"Don't play with your food." He mumbled. She sighed. He returned it and looked at her.
"Okay, honey, I'm sorry, but you gave me a real scare today. So my patience for you is running thin today." He sighed. She nodded.
"You get that, don't you, honey?" he asked. She looked at him and nodded.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, daddy." She spoke. He nodded.
"So am I, babe." He smiled gently, ruffling her hair. Dove continued to push the food around her plate before looking at Calum.
"Can Y/N come over for dinner tomorrow?" she asked. Calum looked at her.
"The girlthat took you in?" he asked.
"Yeah." She nodded. He thought for a moment.
"It would be a nice way to thank her for looking after you, wouldn't it?" he asked. She nodded and smiled.
"Okay. After we've finished eating, we'll go and invite her for dinner." Calum decided.
"Can I go to do it by myself?" she asked excitedly.
"Oh, I'm not falling for that again, Dove Mali-Kao." He chuckled as he shook his head.
Y/N's P.O.V
I sat on the sofa, watching TV as I flicked through my phone. Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. I stood up and opened it. I smiled as it opened to reveal Calum and Dove.
"Hey." I smiled.
"Hey. Um, as a small "thank you" for looking after Dove, we would like to invite you to dinner tomorrow night." Calum spoke nervously. I smiled.
"Sure, that would be brilliant." I spoke. Calum returned the smile.
"Awesome. We're in apartment 36B on the floor above this one." He said.
"Wear a nice dress because I'm wearing my tutu and daddy has agreed to wear his suit." Dove giggled, pulling on Calum's hand.
"Well, I'm sure that you'll both look amazing." I chuckled, looking at Calum. He smiled.
"Thanks. Well, we'll see you tomorrow at seven, is that okay?" he asked.
"Fine." I smiled. He returned it before starting to walk away with Dove.
I knocked on Calum's apartment door. I nervously tugged at my red dress and fidgeted slightly in my heels. The door opened to reveal Dove in a pink tutu and pink shoes, with her dark hair tied up into bunches.
"Y/N!" she squealed.
"Hello! Oh my god, you look adorable." I smiled as I walked into the apartment.
"Thank you, you look very pretty too." She giggled, making my smile widen.
"You wore the right thing." She nodded in approval.
"Why thank you, how come?" I chuckled.
"I heard my daddy on the phone to my uncle Luke, saying how he would love to see you in a red or black dress-."
"Okay, honey, that's enough." Calum spoke as he walked in. My eyes widened slightly at his attire. He was wearing a suit, without a tie, with his white shirt open slightly, showing a feather tattoo across one collarbone and a roman numerals tattoo on the other collar bone. His eyes widened as he skimmed his eyes up and down my body.
"Wow, you look...stunning." He breathed.
"Thank you. I'm glad that I wore exactly what you wanted me to wear." I chuckled, biting my lip. He chuckled and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
"I am so sorry about that, I really should have told her not to repeat that." He smiled sheepishly.
"It's all good, I'm rather flattered actually." I smiled. He returned it before walking into the kitchen.
"So, Dove insisted that I make her favourite meal for dinner tonight, so we have spaghetti carbonara with garlic bread and chocolate mousse." He spoke.
"Wow, she has a very grown-up taste." I chuckled.
"Yeah, she does. Makes my life easier." He shrugged as he put the spaghetti and garlic bread onto three plates.
"I got one." I spoke. He gave me a small smile as I took a plate and followed me to the table with the other two.
"Dove, come sit down, baby." Calum called out. Dove came running in and climbed up onto one of the chairs.
