18| WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE LEGENDS?

[ Chapter Eighteen ]

❝What, didn't sign up for the childhood trauma?❞

[Legends of To-Meow-Meow]

"Constantine did it!" Charlie cheered, while Myra paced up and down in the jumpship trying to figure out what happened, "He changed the timeline back in New Orleans. He saved old Dez. Unfortunately I have no idea why you're a cat, Z."

"We have to fix this." Myra paused in her pacing and turned to face Charlie.

Zari growled at the two of them.

"Relax, Z. We're going to fix this." Myra said, moving over to the pilot's chair.

"Oh quit your whinging. I know it's a pretty raw deal for you. Especially cause, well, who knows what they put in cat food." Charlie bent down to talk to Zari.

"Charlie!" Myra glared at her.

Charlie grinned, "On the plus side, you are cute as hell." She turned to look at Myra and winked, "I mean not as cute as you, but-"

"Shut up." Myra shook her head, but blushed nonetheless.

Charlie picked up Zari and sat in the pilot's chair, "Z, it's been an experience. Now, I'm going to set the autopilot to take you and Myra back to the Waverider, but first, we are going to drop me off somewhere fabulous."

"Charlie, that was not the plan." Myra gripped the chair, that Charlie was sitting in.

"I'm back to normal, Myr." Charlie told Myra, "Look, it's been fun, but now that I have my powers back, I don't have to stick around anymore."

"It's been fun?" Myra glared at Charlie, "That's all you're going to say? You're just going to drop me back on the ship and go off and live your life while time is most likely falling apart?"

"It's not my problem, Myr." Charlie answered, "Besides, you're a Legend. I know you guys can keep time from crumbling to pieces."

"You're such an asshole, Charlie." Myra cursed at her, "I can't believe I was beginning to fall for you." Myra crossed her arms over her chest, "Fine, take me back to the Waverider. Have fun wherever you end up."

Myra was furious at Charlie for not caring about what happened to her or what happened to time itself. But, she let the shapeshifter drop herself off in Hollywood, while she had to go explain to Sara what mess they had all just gotten themselves into.

Once back on the Waverider, Myra immediately took Zari-cat to the library until she could figure out what to do with her. Since Constantine was probably no longer around, Myra doubted they would find a way to change her back into a human anytime soon.

Myra noticed that the ship was awfully quiet. She peered into the kitchen and the lab, but didn't see any sign of anyone, or any sign of any magical creature that was being held on the ship.

Myra quickly made her way to the bridge, but peered into any open room that she came across. Once she got to the bridge, she stopped in her tracks.

The entire parlour was filled with artifacts. Except some of the artifacts looked like dead parts of creatures. It looked like some sort of museum for dead creatures. Or a hunter's parlour.

It was nothing like it had been when she'd left.

Suddenly voices sounded from down the hall. Myra looked around wildly for a place to hide but upon not finding any, she decided just to sit down in one of the chairs and act like she belonged.

"Who do you think we'll meet next?" Nate's voice floated towards her.

Nate was on the ship? But wasn't he supposed to be working at the Bureau? Or had that all flown out the window because of all the stuff with Constantine.

Myra didn't have long to wonder about any of it as Nate, Ray, Mick and Garima suddenly appeared on the bridge.

Myra grabbed a bottle of whiskey that was sitting on a table and pretended like she had been drinking it and reading something on a tablet.

"Myra?" Nate asked, as he and the others stepped into the parlour but then asked Gideon a question, "Gideon, any messages while we were gone?"

"You missed calls from Barry Alley, Oliver Queen and Kara Zor-El." Gideon replied over the speaker.

"Well at least they still exist." Myra mumbled into the bottle of whiskey.

"Sounds like the annual crossover." Ray deduced.

"Yeah, that's going to be a hard pass." Nate sighed, sitting down and turning to Myra, "What are you doing here, Myra?"

"Wow. Glad you're happy to see me." Myra said sarcastically as she tried to think up a story.

"I thought you were going to visit your parents and stay away from the ship, because of all the 'bad memories.'" Nate replied.

Myra silently thanked Nate for coming up with a cover story, "Yeah, I did and then I decided to check in on you guys and see how you were doing." She motioned around the room, "Clearly, not well."

"Losing Sara was hard." Ray explained.

"So, revenge seemed like the perfect option." Nate explained.

Myra chucked dryly, finally figuring out what Constantine had screwed up by saving Dez, "Not really something I ever thought you guys would resort to, but I get it. I mean, I did try to kill myself when I killed my sister but like you can see how that didn't end up happening. Besides, this kind of revenge is probably a lot more satisfying."

"Whoa. That is dark." Ray replied.

Myra rolled her eyes, "What, didn't sign up for the childhood trauma?" Myra took a swig from the bottle, "And here I thought we could all forget about murdering magical creatures, in favor of sharing childhood trauma stories."

"What happened to you?" Nate asked her.

"I could ask you the same thing." Myra said dryly.

Myra was desperately trying to relate to the guys. Losing Sara had probably crushed them, and Myra knew what losing family felt like, but she also didn't have time for this. She had to figure out what happened in order to save the timeline.

"Why don't you join us for a mission?" Ray offered.

"Yeah maybe then you'll understand us better." Nate added, looking at Myra.

"Look, I love you guys but I don't think slaughtering creatures, no matter how evil, will help me get over Sara or my sister's deaths." Myra told them.

"Please. I haven't seen you in months." Nate pleaded with Myra.

Myra sighed, "Fine. But I don't have my sword."

"You can borrow one of ours." Nate offered, perking up.

Myra rolled her eyes at this weird version of her best friend and was about to say something when suddenly Sara walked in. As in Sara Lance. As in the Sara who had apparently died in this timeline.

Everyone looked at Sara funny, but Myra quickly caught on, realizing it must have been Charlie pretending to be Sara and Myra knew she should play along.

"Please gather around." 'Sara' said, "So, I know our shoot-first-ask-questions-never policy has led to some interesting decorations, but it's time to change. From now on we are going to capture these magical creatures and take them to the Bureau like we are supposed to."

"Look Sara." Myra spoke up, "I know this is all very weird and Nate said it might help with my guilt for getting my sister killed. And yes, I know it was years ago, but maybe for just one mission, let me shoot something or whatever."

Sara raised an eyebrow at Myra, "Sorry, Myra but I don't know about that." She looked at the others, "Why are you all looking at me weird?"

"Well, it just seems a shame to change our policy now?" Ray said, "Considering we're so close to capturing our white whale."

"That's a 'Moby Dick' reference." Nate added.

"Your white whale?" Myra asked, "Why didn't you guys mention whatever this is to me?"

"Cause you just got here." Nate told her.

"Basically it's the only creature we haven't been able to capture." Ray answered, "Because it's quite elusive. Maybe because it has the ability to change shape."

Everyone suddenly drew their weapons on Sara. Myra stepped back in shock.

"How dare you step on this ship and pretend to be our dead captain." Nate spat at 'Sara'.

"Wait. Sara's dead?" 'Sara' who Myra now knew to for sure be Charlie, asked.

"Yeah, that's why we know you're not Sara." Ray answered.

"Is that why you guys are like this?" Charlie asked.

"Like what?" Nate asked, offended.

"Hunting down magical creatures like it's a-" Charlie suddenly gasped and Myra's eyes widened in shock as Garima speared Charlie through with her sword.

"What the hell? Killing her was not the answer." Myra glared at them.

"You're defending her for impersonating Sara?" Nate looked shocked, "What happened to you?"

"Yeah, watch what you say or we'll kill you too." Mick said.

"Seriously?" Myra scoffed, "I'm your friend."

"You used to be." Nate answered.

"Nate." Myra pleaded, but saw Charlie suddenly get up and run off the ship and the others were distracted.

"Oh." Nate cursed, "It heals itself and turns into Amaya. This is not good."

Nate turned to Myra, touching her face lightly, "We'll deal with you later."

Myra yanked herself out of his grasp, "Fine. I'll be in the kitchen."

Myra watched as the others raced off after Charlie, before she ran for the jumpship, knowing Charlie would head there next. Myra was not going to wait around for Nate and the others to kill her or Charlie. She was going to fix this timeline, before it was too late.

Myra sat down and quickly got the jumpship ready to go. Charlie suddenly ran in with Zari sitting in a carrier on her back.

"Let's get out of here." Myra said, and quickly got the jumpship to leave the Waverider before she turned to face Charlie, "That was a close one."

"You're telling me." Charlie sighed, unzipping the carrier to let Zari out, "What the hell happened to them?"

"They're crazy." Myra replied, "Nate was going to kill me for defending you. Nate. Aka my best friend, Nate, who would jump in front of a moving car for me."

"Yeah, they've become maniacs." Charlie groaned and then apologized, "I shouldn't have left you."

Myra tried not to smile at Charlie's lame apology, "That wasn't a very good apology but I'll take it. Now, what are we going to do?"

Zari meowed.

"What, Constantine?" Charlie asked, leaning over Myra, "Yeah, this is his fault. He has to help us fix this."

"It's your fault too, babe." Myra added, looking up at Charlie.

"Fine. But it's mainly his fault." Charlie admitted and then looked confused, "Did you just call me babe?"

"Sort of slipped out, sorry. I won't do it again." Myra winced.

"I mean, I don't really do relationships." Charlie told her.

"I said it won't happen again." Myra told her.

Charlie shook her head, "I didn't say I didn't do this relationship."

Zari meowed again and Charlie and Myra snapped their gazes away from each other.

"Alright, sorry Z." Myra replied, "Okay, where do you think he is?"

Zari pawed at the screen, which zeroed in on the Time Bureau Headquarters as a location.

"Nice work Zari cat." Charlie grinned.

"Let's go get him." Myra added.
