17| JOHN DOES SOMETHING STUPID

[ Chapter Seventeen ]

"Any luck?" Myra asked, popping in to the lab after she'd cooled down from her argument with Charlie and John. Turns out a cup of coffee and a screaming at the top of her lungs to music, was all it really took.

Zari shook her head, "If we change this then it could create a whole domino effect."

"Shit." Myra cursed.

"Didn't know you cared so much." Zari said, confused by her reaction.

"I mean, even if we can't change things in our past, I was hoping that we'd maybe be able to help someone else fix something." Myra responded.

"I'm going to tell him. Or do you want to do it?" Zari said, as she got up.

"I'd rather not. I've already had a whole screaming match with him and Charlie and we both said some pretty horrible things." Myra admitted.

"About what?" Zari asked.

"Just about them trying to change history without saying anything to any of us. It was just horribly selfish." Myra said.

"Yeah." Zari nodded, and got up, "Well, time to break the news."

Myra nodded and watched as Zari left the room.

Later, she ran into Zari and Charlie in the hallway, heading towards the jumpship. Both of them looked angry, and Myra knew that they were in trouble.

"What's going on?" Myra asked, looking confused, "Where's John."

"Changing history." Zari answered, "Turns out he couldn't wait for me to try and find a loophole and instead went off to mess with history himself."

"Of course he did." Myra muttered, "He did say 'history be damned'."

"What?" Zari asked.

"Sorry, I might have left out that bit about the argument. Seemed like John didn't care whether history stays intact or not." Myra admitted.

"Seriously, Myra?" Zari said exasperated.

"If you're going after him, count me in. He's going to mess up a lot of people's lives if we don't stop him." Myra added.

"You're coming too." Zari looked at Charlie, "Since it's partly your fault, anyways."

"Bloody hell." Charlie cursed, "Fine, let's go."

The three headed for the jumpship.

"Does anyone know where he is?" Myra asked.

"New Orleans." Charlie spoke up.

"Yeah but when?" Myra asked.

"Luckily, I can hack into Desmond's phone number." Zari said, once they got onto the jumpship.

Zari quickly hacked into the number while Charlie and Myra peered around her chair to watch. As soon as she got in and it started ringing, Myra whispered, "John, don't be an idiot. Pick up."

"John!" Zari spoke as soon as John picked up the phone.

"How the bloody hell did you find me?" John hissed into the phone.

Charlie and Myra both sighed in relief at his voice and sat down.

"John, you have to stop this." Zari said, "If Desmond isn't dragged to hell and you don't join the Legends, the effects could be cataclysmic."

"Neron didn't drag Dez to hell. I did." John spoke.

"Oh for shit's sake." Myra groaned.

"What do you mean?" Zari asked.

"When I told Dez to run, he went behind my back. Made a deal to protect me. In exchange for sparing my life, Dez had to bind his soul to Neron's." John said.

Zari looked quickly at Charlie and Myra and then shook her head.

"I couldn't send Neron to hell without sending Dez down with him." John continued, "I killed the man I loved, and for what? To buy New Orleans a little more time? Neron needs souls to take over hell, and mark my words, he is coming back to Earth to get them."

"John. We can help you." Zari answered.

"John, please." Myra added.

"Yeah, spare the team bit, all right?" John shot back, "I work alone."

The line went silent and all of a sudden there was a dial tone sound, showing that John had hung up the phone.

"He's going to doom us all." Myra cursed.

"What do we do now?" Charlie asked.

"I'm contacting Sara." Zari said, "There's nothing else we can do now that John's gone rogue."

Myra cursed, "I'm beginning to think I should have just gone rogue and brought my sister back. At least now I would be happily at home with her instead of in this mess."

Zari and Charlie both glared at her and Myra shrugged, "Sorry, but I'm sure you get my point."

Zari swirled around in her chair before calling the Waverider, "Sara, do you read me? I'm with Myra and Charlie. John's done something awful."

Charlie bent down and said, "Well he hasn't done anything yet. I'm still stuck in this form."

"Charlie!" Myra hissed at her.

"Uh..." Zari started and Myra and Charlie both grabbed onto Zari's chair as they saw a bright shimmering light coming towards them in the temporal zone.

"What's that?" Charlie asked as it zoomed towards the jumpship.

"Nothing good." Myra answered, and grabbed onto Charlie's hand, with her hand that wasn't gripping the chair in front of them, before the light swallowed the jumpship.

Myra sat up in one of the seats and pressed her fingers to her temple, groaning in pain, "What the hell just happened?"

Myra immediately looked around and shook Charlie who was slumped on the other side of the seats, "Charlie, wake up."

"What's going on?" Charlie asked, as soon as she opened her eyes and saw Myra, "Myr, you okay?"

"My head hurts like crazy but I'm okay. What about you?" Myra asked, grabbing onto Charlie's hands.

"Fine, I think." Charlie answered, moving her thumb across Myra's hand, sending tingles up Myra's body.

Charlie and Myra weren't even officially together, the two were basically just having fun, however, Myra couldn't help but feel like she was developing actual feelings for Charlie. And Myra tried as hard as she could to bury them because she knew that she would just get hurt, but maybe, this time, she wouldn't.

Charlie suddenly let go of Myra and stood up, "Wait." She suddenly shifted into the Queen, "Oy, Myr, Z! Check this out!"

She proceeded to shift into several other people including the Legends, "I got my powers back! Don't be mad, I'm myself again," before she switched back to looking like Amaya or rather the person that they'd all gotten used to seeing her as, "Whoo!"

Myra rolled her eyes at Charlie as Charlie grinned at her and then raced to the chair where Zari had been sitting in, "Wait. Where's Zari?"

"What do you mean where's Zari?" Myra asked, rushing over and gasped as she saw that instead of Zari sitting in the chair, it was a cat.

"Zari?" Charlie gasped, as she saw the air totem around the cat's neck.

Zari pawed at Charlie as Charlie and Myra shared a shocked look.

"Oh blimey." Charlie said.

"How are we going to get out of this one?" Myra asked.
