Sun Showers
In the sun shower,
I am eating lime popsicles,
Arms tired from the oars,
Of a long canoe.
Rain cascading,
I remember the Lily pads
And the white flowers that burst forth
From mats of algae in green waters,
And a white egret who picks through,
I wonder if his name is Eastman.
The sunlight fades as the cloud cover returns,
And my teeth hit the wooden stick in the last bite,
Icy lime juice
Like soft rippling waters,
That I know will freeze over in winter.
The rain persists.
