Jooheon walks around the woods looking for nothing in particular.
Last afternoon changed the games completely.
Suddenly the real consequences were shoved them in the face, not letting them turn a blind eye to it anymore.
The lawyer has his hands crossed on his back, the soft breeze letting his hair fly freely.
As he walks the small branches on the ground are crushed, making rather loud cracking sounds.
I was such a jerk ...
How did so many years pass by without him knowing the whole truth? Why did he never ask his brother properly?
He stops in his tracks, closing his eyes as he sighs.
"Hello." Jooheon senses a certain presence on his back as he turns around to see who it is.
"Hi!" It was the beautiful ravened boy he definitely doesn't have a crush on.
"What are you doing here? Why aren't you eating with the others?" Changkyun asks in a rather monotonous tone.
This guy gives him somehow the chills, he's so mysterious.
"I ... well I was ... well I ..." Jooheon babbles scratching the back of his neck.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" The seemingly older grins looking almost shy.
"N-no I was ahum ... I was gonna wash my hands by the river." Thinking that was all they were gonna talk Jooheon turns around ready to bid him goodbye.
"I'll come with! I hope no one is bathing at the moment." It's definitely not that Jooheon doesn't want the ravined to come with him, it's rather that his body won't function if he is near.
He only manages to nod as they walk side by side in comfortable silence with a hint of shame.
Changkyun's hair was down, and the gel he once used completely washed off. The black hair to the right side as his hands hold his head from the back.
As the ravined look down while walking he notices two pairs of shoes on the ground.
How come the shoes are so far from the river? And why aren't there the participant's clothes nearby?
Jooheon stops as well, as Changkyun crouches down to have a look.
The size is rather small for a man but still big enough to be a man's.
"Do you know who these belong to?" Jooheon shakes his head.
"They look very similar to Namjoon's, but his feet are definitely bigger." Changkyun rubs his chin, thinking hard.
"Why would someone leave their shoes so far away from the river? It's still a few meters and the sticks and stones on the ground could seriously hurt your feet." The ravined questions, looking up at the lawyer.
"Maybe that person didn't care about the pain or is already used to it." Changkyun jumps to his feet, eyes widened.
"Of course! In old China people used to leave their shoes a few meters in front of their death place, if they committed suicide. It was a way to let people know they did it willingly without leaving a suicide note since not all people had access to paper and brush at that time."
"You mean one of the participants killed themselves?!" Jooheon was losing it.
"Who would do that after just losing that little kid yesterday?" Realization hits both of them at the same time, horror plain on their face.
"Ravn!" Both scream in unison running further into the woods trying to find the boy.
Praying for his suspicions to be false, Jooheon runs like he never has before.
Unfortunately, thirty meters away from the shoes was Youngjo, hanging from a tree.
Jooheon's first instinct was to throw up right there, not even having time to turn his face.
Changkyun rushes to his side, rubbing his back.
"It's okay, it's okay. I'll give my best to put him down alone you stay here." Changkyun then rushes to the other's side, hugging his legs for dear life as he pulls the other up to get oxygen into his blood.
Yet as he checks for a pulse on the smaller's ankle, he sighs frustratingly.
Judging from the cold temperature of the body, he would say Youngjo had committed suicide at night or early in the morning.
Jooheon recomposes himself, still tasting the gale in his mouth as he climbs the tree to detangle the tie that was used as rope.
"Could you pull him up more? It's still too tight!" Changkyun tiptoes, trying to find balance in this awkward position.
A few minutes and agile hands later, Youngjo's limp body falls onto Changkyun, making the older hiss in pain.
That will definitely leave a mark.
Swiftly the lawyer makes his way back helping the swimmer lay the deceased down.
Still trying to hold onto the hope that the boy was still alive Changkyun looks for breathing yet finds none.
Jooheon looks at the ravined with hopeful eyes, that excitement soon fading and despair taking its place as Changkyun shakes his head.
After a few moments of silence, the swimmer finally breaks it looking at the lawyer.
"We ... we need to tell his brother." Jooheon closes his eyes tightening his jaw.
Changkyun takes the body to Hwangwoon's side, laying them one after the other.
As he makes the arrangements for the funeral Jooheon goes back to the glade, visibly distressed.
Lee Hoseok was the first to rush to him.
"What happened?" Jooheon takes a few breaths to calm down and shakes his head.
Hoseok was still lost holding his brother steadily.
Jooheon's team soon sees him too and joins as well, gathering all around him.
"I ... you need to come with me Namjoon ... and so does your brother." The leader looks serious and worried.
"But I dunno where Youngjo is. He went for a walk at dawn and hasn't come back. He's still mourning Hwangwoon ... I'm not sure he's capable of coming." Jooheon's breath gets caught in his throat.
"Take your other brother ..." He wasn't capable of telling him, not when he has brothers as well, not when he already lived through a scare like this once with Minhyuk.
"What do you want from us?" Taehyung joins as well, seeing as his older brother nodded in his direction.
"You ... your brother ..." Jooheon just couldn't talk anymore. Somehow he forgot how to speak.
"I'm here ... you mean Jo? He went for a walk this morning man. His boy- I mean friend died last night, cut him some slack." Taehyung crosses his arms, already losing patients with this guy.
"What's wrong Jooheon? Just tell them already!" Hoseok is just as impatient as Taehyung is cupping his younger brother's face to make him lock eyes.
Jooheon closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
"Your ... your brother Youngjo ... he committed suicide."
Changkyun had just finished digging both holes when he hears fast footsteps approaching. He wipes the sweat from his forehead with the back of his left hand, letting a bit of dirt get on it.
Both his hands were filled with brown soil. He couldn't find a shovel or anything useful to help him dig, so he had to improvise with his hands.
The holes were one beside the other, whereas the bodies were on the left or right side of them respectfully.
Namjoon is the first to arrive, once he sees his brother lying there he stops in his tracks, face completely blank.
Right after comes Taehyung, he stops beside his brother and sighs, letting his tired eyes close.
After just a few seconds the place is filled with people and Changkyun takes the opportunity to sneak out to the small lake to wash his hands. It might be just an excuse to leave the emotional scene but he doesn't mind. Emotions have never been his forte.
"No ..." Namjoon says as his eyes start to water. His knees give in and he falls right beside the body of his beloved brother.
"This ... this cannot be!" The CEO screams out as he reaches for his dead brother.
"How can this be? You look just asleep! Wake up! Wake up!" He shakes the body forcefully, feeling the dead weight push the body back down.
His tears blur his vision making it barely impossible for him to see anything.
"He's dead Namjoon ..." Taehyung lays a hand on his brother's shoulder wanting to cry just as much.
Seokjin limps to the brothers, feeling his own brother's hand pulling him back.
"I know what I'm doing." Seungmin holds his wrist tighter before letting him go.
The older one kneels down beside Namjoon and lays a hand on the other's own.
They never speak but in this situation touch talks, more than words ever could.
Namjoon stops struggling and looks at the older. His lips wabble as he suddenly hugs the other tightly.
His sobs are loud in Seokjin's ears as he hugs back.
Seeing his brother finally calming down Taehyung walks a few meters away. The crowd was to busy watching the older brother to even notice his absence.
He leans against a tall oak tree, resting his forehead on it. The tears roll down finally, yet it doesn't give him much relief. His heart hurts like never before, it's asphyxiating, crushing, and most of all a never-ceasing ache.
Cracking sounds make the brunette come back to reality.
Jungkook walks slowly but steadily. Taehyung turns away from the tree wiping away his tears. It didn't help much since the new once already replaced the old ones.
"I should go back..." Taehyung says already starting to walk. Jungkook on his hand had other plans, he hugs the older tightly.
It might sound dumb but at that moment Taehyung wasn't able to push him away. He was stuck to the younger like glue, not being able to move one single muscle.
The proud Taehyung had found something bigger than his pride ... mourning.
