It's been two days since Lauren Darling arrived at her sister's house. She's thankful that Ava is okay and that everyone is happy and healthy. She didn't want to pull them from their vacation, even if the sisters are homeschooled, she knew they all needed a break. So, she ended her vacation to be with them. She honestly didn't even mind, since the entire time she'd been apart from them all she could think about was flying back to Maine to be with them.

With her morning coffee in hand Lauren stares out the window and into the wooded area that her daughter's love so much. The workers finished yesterday and for the first time since she's arrived the day is quiet. The birds chirp as though they are happy that the loud noises of the machine have subsided.

Tiny tired footsteps shuffle into the kitchen, Lauren turns to see her youngest daughter rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"Mommy, it's quiet," she says, looking up with a gleam in her eye.

"Yes darling, it is," she smiles.

"Can I show you the waterfalls today?"

Ave puts her hands together and holds them up to her face, pleading with her mom.

"If it's safe, I would love to see it," she says smiling.

Ava jumps up happily, "I'm going to go get dressed, you are going to love it!" she squeals.

Lauren shakes her head and laughs, her daughter always had such an amazing imagination and a love for nature. She goes back to staring out the window at these so-called magical woods. She wants to believe in magic again just as she did as a child. When Lauren was a year younger than Ava she discovered her own bit of magic. Her family lived on a huge farm and every spring when the meadow just beyond her house would bloom, she and Chris would lay in the field of flowers waiting for one magical moment to occur. Each year in the same spot a ladybug with seven spots would crawl over one of the leaves. The girls always believed that it was the same ladybug all of these years and that she was coming by to say hi. Unfortunately that magic died out when their dad sold the farm and they no longer could lay in the fields as they moved to the city miles away from the field. Lauren waited everyday on her fire escape in Brooklyn New York for her ladybug to return. She grew the same flower from the field, but with each passing year it became obvious that it wasn't magic after all.

Out of all her children she sees herself in Ava the most. Lauren hopes that maybe going on this small adventure with her daughter might open her heart up to the many things in this world that we can't explain, like magic.

"You're gonna need a tour guide."

Lauren turns to see her sister leaning against the door frame with a smile on her face.

"A girls day. What do you say, sis?"

Lauren smirks, "Sounds good to me."

An hour later they head out into the woods to go find the waterfall. Lauren has never seen the falls before, but she's excited to see what makes her daughter so happy. As they walk through Ava skips around telling her mom everything there is to know about the falls, including a cave. Aunt Chris doesn't remember a cave, but even Derek had raved about the small cave that they spent the night in while they waited for the storm to pass them by.

Lauren Darling is awed by how beautiful this part of the woods is. The tree's here seem more alive, and there aren't as many damaged ones, which is odd considering what Derek had explained. In the distance is a small clearing. Ava skips ahead as Lauren takes in the scenery. A sense of calm washes over her as they close in on the clearing. The sound of the falls gets louder with each step.

"Mommy look!" Ava cries out.

Lauren looks in the direction her daughter is pointing and that's when she sees the glow of a rainbow and there's a spectacular view of the falls. Lauren gasps, covering her mouth with her hands.

"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen," she tells her.

All of the girls step forward into the clearing. Sophie skips along the water's edge, while Kate looks around, bored but content. Ava walks around the side of the falls as Lauren watches her daughter closely. Ava's face drops, and Lauren is by her side in seconds.

"What is it darling?" she questions.

"The cave," she says.

"It was here?" Lauren asks her daughter.

Ava nods her head vigorously, "Yes mama, I swear to you it was right there," she says, pointing to the side of the falls. "The tree is gone too. The one that we had to climb through to get to aunt Chris's."

Lauren hates seeing her daughter so sad. She looks around for something to distract her, and as she does her eyes land on a beautiful field of grape hyacinths, daffodils, tulips and the most beautiful yellow pansy flowers she has ever seen.

"Sweetheart you never told me about the flowers," she says.

"Flowers?"

Ava still looks a little sad, but her little face lights up like Christmas lights the moment she spots the flowers.

"Those, those weren't there before," she says, like it's some kind of miracle.

Lauren almost believes her daughter, and part of her wants to believe her about the cave. Maybe, the cave was in another location and she was so scared she wanted to believe she was at the falls. Lauren takes Ava's hand guiding her to the flowers. Aunt Chris has already discovered them and Lauren can see the look in her eyes, as she locks eyes with her.

"It's just like the farm," she says.

"You read my mind," Lauren answers. "Can you believe it?" she asks.

Aunt Chris shakes her head, "No, I really can't."

The girls all run to explore the flower field that has somehow blossomed over night. Even aunt Chris is a bit confused by the field suddenly being there.

"Has it ever been there before?" Lauren asks her sister.

Aunt Chris shakes her head, "Never," she whispers.

The moment Lauren steps into that field it's like everything around her becomes that field she grew up in. She can remember the clear blue skies on the summer days when she and Chris would just lay out there on a blanket surrounded by flowers and insects. Life was so much simpler than, a time when believing in miracles was possible. When they left that farm it was like the magical part of her brain stayed behind, but here in these woods it feels as though it's returned.

The two sisters, and the three younger sisters all sit together in the field. They watch fat bumble bees land on the flowers, caterpillars crawling on the leaves. Birds fly above them creating a beautiful melody and to each one of those girls it felt like home.

Something catches Lauren's attention as she was staring up at the beautiful clear sky through the budding treetops. Her eyes fall upon the petal of a yellow daffodil, on it sits a tiny little ladybug. This particular ladybug has seven spots. She gaps, and her sister looks over. Her eyes land on the ladybug as well.

"Is that?"

"I think it is," Lauren whispers.

"What is it mommy?" Sophie asks.

Curious, Sophie leans over to get a better look. She spots the ladybug and her whole face lights up with joy.

"Kate. Look! It's just like the one we see every summer at home," Sophie cries.

Kate leans over and notices it as well, "It really does. One, two, three," Kate says, starting to count the spots. "Four, five, six, seven. Seven spots. Maybe it is her," Kate smiles at her sister.

Lauren and her sister look at each other, then Lauren says; "Have we ever told you girls about our ladybug?" she asks.

The three girls are silent as they each shake their heads, "No, you never have," Kate says.

"Well then you girls are in for some story," aunt Chris says, a huge smile on her face.

"When your aunt and I were little girls," Lauren starts. "We lived on a farm. Your grandparents loved farm life and we lived there for a long time. Anyway, I was a little bit younger than you," she says, tapping Ava on the nose. Ava giggles. "We were sitting in the field guessing what shapes the clouds were when a tiny little ladybug landed on aunt Chris's nose."

Kate, Sophie and Ava giggle and snort.

"Her nose?" Sophie asks.

Lauren laughs along with them and nods. Aunt Chris smiles remembering it just like it was yesterday.

"I was really scared," aunt Chris tells them.

"Why? It was just a ladybug?" Ava asks.

"I didn't know what it was at first, I was afraid a bee had landed on me," aunt Chris explained. "But your mother scooped that lady bug onto a small green leaf and placed her on a flower."

"We counted her spots and called her seven, because she had seven spots."

"And what happened next?" Kate asks, curiously.

"Every summer that we were there we would go out into that field, and every summer a ladybug would land on aunt Chris's nose. We always counted the spots and every year it was seven. We knew it was her, we believed she was our magic ladybug."

"But then we moved," aunt Chris chimed in. "We moved into the city. Your mama she tried to find seven again. She planted flowers just like those in the field, but seven never returned."

Aunt Chris gasps suddenly and they all look at her. Perched on the end of her nose is the ladybug. Ava giggles.

"Do you think she's the same ladybug? Could she be our ladybug too?" Kate asks.

"I'm almost positive," Lauren says to her daughter.

"So do you believe in the magic now mama?" Ava asks.

"It's starting to come back," she tells her.

"Uh guys, is anyone going to get this ladybug off my nose?" aunt Chris questions.

The girls giggle and roll around in the flowers as they do. Lauren takes a leaf and carefully places seven on a bright yellow pansy. The girls spend the rest of the afternoon lying in the field of flowers. They explore the falls and watch as a rainbow takes form in the mist. The afternoon sun is setting and it will be dark soon, so they girls hurry along back towards the woods. As they leave, Lauren looks back over her shoulder at the sight before her. In the corner of the falls something shiny and blue catches her attention. She stops for a brief moment and really looks. Buried next to the falls is a small cave, she can just see the sparkle of the blue crystal. Her lips pull into a smile.

"Ava," she whispers.

Ava stops walking and turns to her mom. Lauren kneels down in front of her, then leans over and whispers in her ear, "I believe," she says.

That causes Ava to smile big. She wraps her arms around her mom and hugs her tight.

"I knew you did mama, I knew it was there all along," she squeals.

Ava happily skips off to catch up to aunt Chris. Lauren lingers behind just for a few extra seconds where she swears she sees a swirl of wind waving at her from the falls. Then she turns and heads back into the woods with her family.

Later that night at the dinner table while they nibble on mac and cheese and chicken nuggets, Derek looks around at all of them.

"How was your girls day?" he asks them.

"It was perfect," Ava says.

"Oh Derek darling you have to see it," aunt Chris says. "There are these beautiful flowers that grew by the falls, and they were just spectacular," she says, staring at him.

"Oh, flowers?"

She nods, her mouth now full of mac and cheese. He sets his arm around the back of aunt Chris's chair and stares up at her as if she's the most beautiful woman on the planet.

"Sounds amazing," he says, half looking at her, half looking at the children.

"Mama can I show Derek the flowers?"

"Not tonight dear," she says. "Tonight we finish dinner, we clean up, have some desert, wash up and head to bed. We still have a few days left and I'm sure you'll have time to show Derek the flowers," she says.

"Okay mama," she says.

Derek smiles at her and then looks back at the woman he loves. Lauren is beyond happy for her sister, she found love and deserves an amazing man like Derek. Deep down she misses the man she married and wished things were different, but they aren't and she's learned to live with that. Today though, she felt something she hadn't felt in a long time. She felt like he was there, watching over them. Like Seven was a sign that he's still out there looking out for all of them, and maybe just maybe he's the one bringing the magic for their daughters.
