Orcreasted Danger, Unexpected Feelings

"It's so peaceful outside, isn't it Swara?!"

Swara nodded. "It is. But don't you prefer to take evening walks alone?"

"Y-Yes. But I just thought of a change. Hahaha..." Ragini laughed nervously. After all, she had never been good at lying.

The real reason she had Swara outside was because she and Laksh came up with a brilliant plan.

Yes, it hurt her to think she was letting Laksh find Swara's love. However, she wanted him to be happy.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw a white van approach. 'Laksh never told me the color, but this one should be it.'

"Ragini wait! Walk slowly, will you?"

"But it's such a calm and beautiful evening..."

Suddenly the van stopped beside Ragini and three men came out.

Ragini cleared her throat. If she was acting anyway, then she would make sure it was an Oscar winning performance. "Hey! Let go!"

However, the men restrained her flaying hands and pushed her inside the van. Ragini screamed and cried out for help.

"Ragini..." Swara was too shocked to move. However, she soon got her senses. "Ragini!"

However, by the time Swara was there, the doors closed. She banged on the windows, but the van sped off.

From the opposite direction, Laksh's car arrived. He got out seeing her.

"Why are you shouting in the middle of the road Swara?" Laksh questioned.

"No! Ragini...RAGINI!" Swara fell down to her knees in despair.

"Swara?! What's wrong Swara? Please tell me." Laksh urged, kneeling beside her.

In a teary voice, Swara recounted the events.

But it wasn't like he didn't know already. It was their plan after all. Ragini would get kidnapped. Then, Laksh would come to comfort Swara. He would then play hero and bring Ragini back home safely. Swara has to fall for him then. If it was a movie plot, Laksh was sure it would be a hit.

Laksh held Swara's shoulders and smiled at her. "Hey, don't cry. I'll find her for you no matter what!"

"But how? I didn't even get a look at the number plate!"

"I'll find a way. I can't see you in tears." Laksh rubbed away her tears lovingly. "Let's go to the police first."

Swara nodded. "That white van wou-"

"White?"

"Yes. It was white."

Laksh could feel his blood grow cold at her reply. 'But it was supposed to be a silver va-' Laksh looked up as he saw an approaching vehicle.

If he wasn't already uncertain, he was scared shitless when he saw it was a silver van. His phone beeped in his pocket alerting him with a message.

We are here. But you're with a different girl. We cannot see the girl whose picture you gave us.

'This means....Ragini has been kidnapped for real?!' Laksh's heart stilled in fear. "Shit! We must save Ragini!"

Swara grabbed his wrist when he tried to rush the way the van had went. "Wait! It's useless chasing the van. The police station is whe-!"

'I fear I've doomed Ragini! I must save her!' Laksh broke free of Swara's grip and ran towards his car. "Swara, call the police and go home to your family. I'll go after Ragini."

"Liste-"

However, he didn't wait and drove past her, making her choke from the dust.

30 minutes later...

"Come on, come on! Where could you be?! Where's the van damn it!?" Laksh felt like screaming out and crying at the same time. 'If it wasn't bad enough that I was taking Ragini's help to get Swara knowing she loves me, I've put her in danger too! I would never forgive myself if something happens to her.'

His phone rang. Laksh received without checking the ID. "I'm bus-"

(Old Warehouse no. 37. That's where you'll find Ragini.)

Abruptly, Laksh stepped on the brakes in shock. Before he could question further, the line went dead.

Laksh didn't know whether he should believe some random guy. However, it was the only lead so far. Hoping he wasn't making the wrong decision, he turned the car towards the warehouse.

Laksh got out and walked inside in caution. The place itself gave off an errie feeling to Laksh. 'Ragini please be okay. Please...'

Laksh noticed a bright light coming from a room and quickened his steps. As he rounded the corner, his eyes widened as he found Ragini, tied to a chair. "Ragini!"

Ragini looked up with relief at his voice. But there was also worry.

Laksh ran towards her and tried to free her from the ropes. He removed the cloth muffling her words. "I'm here. It's okay."

"Laksh leave!"

"Not without you! I put you in danger. I'm so sorry Ragini."

"Leave Laksh. They've got guns. Please! I'll...I'll get out somehow, but you should leave!"

"Stop worrying about me damn it! It's annoying!"

Ragini flinched. "I know I'm annoying, but I don't care. Get out!" she cried out.

"Oho! Quit the drama, will you?"

Both of them froze as they heard the third voice.

The guy came inside and pointed his gun at them. "It's time for you to choose Ragini. I've got your sister too."

Laksh and Ragini's eyes widened in horror, making the man in the mask laugh harder.

"And you get to choose. Laksh or Swara. Who will live? Because one must die."

"If one has to die, then I choose..."

Laksh grit his teeth. 'Ragini might choose me. No! I must tell her to choose Swara.'

But Ragini spoke up first.

"Myself. Shoot me."

Laksh turned to look at her in shock. "What?!"

Ragini nodded with a sad smile. "It's okay. Both Swara and you are people I care for. So, I'm okay to sacrifice myself since there's no other choice."

"Are you crazy Ragini!? Choose me instead. I got you into this mess!"

"It's okay. I want you both happy together." salty tears leaked out of her eyes as she smiled. Pulling at the ropes Laksh loosened, she stood up. "My decision is final."

"Sorry. But you were never an option. So it has to be one of them!"

Ragini's eyes widened as he pointed the gun at Laksh. "No!" she surged forward and hugged Laksh.

Laksh was too late to push her away by the time the bullet sound was heard.

However, to their shock and relief, none were hurt as the bullet hit the wall.

"Your sister's at home." saying that, the man marched off leaving them in bewilderment.

"What...just...happened?" Ragini questioned out of shock and confusion. "Lak-oof!" Ragini felt herself begin pushed against the wall.

"Why are you so annoying?!"

"I'm so-"

"Stop it!" Laksh shook with withheld sobs. "Stop being so annoying that...I feel like I'm the worst person in the world."

"Wh-what do you mean?"

"Why would you give up your life for me?!"

"Because you mean more than my life."

"And what about your life, huh?!"

She smiled. "You are...my life."

"I...I've been an opportunist to you Ragini. Always using you be it for Sanskar or for Swara." he looked away in guilt.

"I know."

This made him whip his head back to look at her with wide eyes.

"I've known from the start."

"Then...why?" Laksh questioned with pained eyes.

"Because I love you. And I want you happy."

These words were like salt on his already guilt ridden heart. She also agreed to die for him! How much would more she have to sacrifice just so that he could be happy?

His hands fell slack to his sides, utterly defeated. He didn't know where he lost, but he felt like a failure.

Ragini tried to lighten the situation. "Let's go home now, okay? Come on!" as she stepped away, he grabbed her wrist. "Yes, Laksh?"

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything."

Ragini smiled with a nod. However, he still hadn't let go. "Is there something more you want to say?"

"I...I want to give a chance to us."

Hearing this, Laksh expected her to smile wholeheartedly. However, she delinked her hand from his, looking hurt. "I would rather have your hate than take your pity."

"No! I mean it Ragini. I never tried to know you, always believing Swara to be better. But now...now, I want to know you better."

Ragini shook her head. "You love Swara, don't you?"

"I never said that. I like her. But it's not same as love." he confessed. "So I want to know you. Maybe...I might grow to love you unconditionally like you do..."

Ragini glared at him. "You're pitying me. I don't want that Laksh."

Laksh watched helplessly as she marched off. "But I'm not. I'm genuine this time!"

In the distance, the kidnapper watched with amusement as Laksh chased after Ragini.

'I hope now you understand her value now Lucky bhai. She managed to change me after all.' Sanskar smirked. 'Although, now I doubt if she'll be convinced so easily.'
