Forgotten Love
Ragini signed and blinked innocently at all the people standing there. "Done."
"Now do you believe that she's really lost her memory of past seven months?!" Parvati spoke, coming near Ragini.
Durgaprasad nodded, picking up the property papers. "Very well then. I'm willing to forget her crimes. I always wanted to offer Ragini a second chance."
"Oh no! Never am I letting her back here again. She didn't even know any Maheshwari before seven months and I plan to keep it that way. I'll get the divorce papers from the court soon!"
Laksh was taken aback. However, he glared back. "Good! I w-want the sa-same."
"Then, I guess we won't have any issues." Parvati turned and took Ragini away, leaving Swara and the Maheshwaris in stunned silence.
Eventually, it was broken by Parineeta's voice.
"Laksh, now you and Swara can be together. Bade Papa isn't against your marriage and Ragini won't say no to the divorce. Aren't you happy?"
Laksh, however, didn't smile back. "Things have become a bit complicated bhabi."
"Yes. Because of Ragini. But she's out of the equation now!"
"I..." Laksh sighed. "Just give me sometime, okay?"
Later...
Annapurna came inside his room.
"If you're okay with the divorce, why did you stutter?"
"Maa I...I don't feel free. I thought Ragini was holding me captive in this relationship. But now that she might end it, it feels more suffocating. Even the thought of it makes me feel a void. The irony!"
Annapurna smiled. "Her bondage seems more peaceful than your freedom, doesn't it? Then don't let her go."
"After everything she did, you want her back Maa?!"
"Ragini changed because of the heart break you made her go through. But her memory loss is a chance for you to rectify your mistake." Annapurna suggested. "This tim-"
"She did us wrong. And I believe it would be best if she left."
Annapurna sighed. "Very well then. But...do you really believe so?"
Laksh looked away, unable to answer.
#Next day#
'Why am I here again?' Laksh sighed to himself as he found himself standing before the Gadodia household.
"Oi brat! What are you doing here?!" Dadi came out to the doorstep. "Shoo. You're polluting my lawn."
"I was leaving anyway!"
"Good boy. Now shoo."
Laksh felt his eye twitch in irritation. "I'm not a dog. Stop shooing me!"
"How do I look Dadi?!" Ragini called out excitedly, coming over. "Da-" she stopped speaking suddenly, and her smile disappeared. "Oh, it's my ex-husband. Hi!" she greeted innocently. After all, all Shekhar told her was that she and Laksh didn't work out. She didn't want to end their friendship if she had one with him. She didn't know why, but she wanted him to smile back.
Laksh on the other hand, was too mesmerized by her to speak. Help knew she was beautiful. But she never failed to amaze him in whatever new look she tried.
Beside him, Dadi smirked to herself. 'Heh, stare on Maheshwari. But I'll make sure she doesn't choose you this time.'
"Ladoo, go set up the kettle, will you?"
"Sure."
Laksh was kind of disappointed Ragini left. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but be curious. "Who's coming to meet Ragini?"
Dadi scoffed. "You'll be divorced soon. I'm wasting no time in finding a new groom for Ladoo."
"WHAT?!"
"Stop screaming. You don't expect her to be a spinster, do you?"
"Well no but...but..."
"But?" Parvati quirked an eyebrow. "You don't want her back and she no longer remembers you. So it's only good for all that I find a better groom for her."
"Ragini wouldn't like that! She loved me. Isn't this kind of cheating her?"
Dadi snorted. "Let me repeat. She. Forgot. You! Forgot. Her. Love for you!"
Laksh swallowed with great difficulty. Now that she spoke out the fact out loud, he felt like something was stuck in his throat, making it hard to breathe.
'Probably your heart, you confused atma.' supplied his mind helpfully.
"Excuse me, is this Gadodia household?"
Both of them looked up to the new arrival.
"Yes! And you must be Ratan!" Dadi pushed Laksh away. "Welcome! I'm Ragini's Dadi."
"I see. And are you Ragini's brother?"
'You wanna die bro?' Laksh grit his teeth. "No. I'm her husband!"
"Ex-husband! I already told you how bad he treated Ragini." Dadi interrupted with a sad face. "Please don't mind him and come inside. And you, leave!" with one last glare at Laksh, Dadi left.
Ratan chuckled and patted Laksh on the back. "Don't worry. I know the truth about Ragini's deeds. My mother happens to be Sujata Aunty's friend."
'And he still wants to marry her?' Laksh was amazed. "You really love Ragini, don't you?"
Ratan chuckled. "Not really. But it's a good deal."
"Eh?"
"My parents want to me to marry a nice girl. And I'm sure Ragini will make a perfect housewife. As for me, I can enjoy my life with my several girlfriends." he winked. "That way, I can keep my parents happy. And also, myself. Besides, I'll always give her the attention a wife deserves at home."
Laksh could already feel something explode...probably his tolerance level. "Attention..."
"Yep! Care, love and the things between the closed room of a couple." Ratan whisled. "After all, you can't deny that Ragini is quite a catch. Any man would be lucky to have her as his!"
"Then just be with her. Why do you need other girls?!" Laksh grit out.
"Why are you angry? You should be happy I'll cheat on her after what she did. And I'm a man with needs! Ragini's too plain. She's not those party type girls, you get what I mean?"
Laksh smiled, which soon turned to full blown laughter. "Ahahaha...! Yeah, I get it completely."
"See? Knew you would understand."
"Ahahaha...come here, will you?"
"Bro hug?" Ratan grinned and came forward.
Later...
"RAGINI!"
Ragini stood up hearing Nikhil's shout. Nikhil was her and Swara's childhood friend. She invited him too because she wanted his opinion on Ratan. After all, she lost memories of past months and she felt insecure about her own decision.
Another fact was that Nikhil had told her once when they graduated that he liked her. She rejected him. But now, she was reconsidering her decision because she didn't want to marry some stranger. Atleast choosing Nikhil now would be choosing someone she knew.
"Why are yo-" Ragini gasped at the sight before her.
Nikhil stood there, holding back a raging Laksh. Ratan was on the floor with his lip bleeding and one black eye.
"This guy is crazy!"
"He isn't. You deserve to get punched!" Nikhil shouted. Laksh had already told him everything.
"All of you are crazy!"
"I'm crazy?! Come here and I'll show you crazy!" Laksh tried to break free of Nikhil without success.
"Ragini, tell Laksh to stop!" Nikhil shouted. Nikhil wasn't unfamiliar with whatever had been going on in Ragini's life. After all, she was his best friend and they shared their secrets. 'I thought you said Laksh never liked you Ragini. Then what's this?! Overprotective brat!'
"Wh-what's going on?" Ragini asked in shock.
"Just get this guy inside before he goes on mass murder!"
Later...
Nikhil flinched as Ragini put an ice-pack over his swollen cheek.
Ragini glared at Laksh. "You hurt Nikhil you uncivilised person?! I bet that's why I left you!"
"Ragini it's..." Laksh didn't even want to recall the despicable things Ratan spoke about her. It made his blood rage in anger.
"No Ragini. I just got hurt stopping him. And no, he's not wrong. Ratan deserved a beating."
"Why Nikhil?"
"All you need to know is that he isn't the right guy for you Ragu."
'Ragu?' the tiny nickname caught Laksh's attention, making him narrow his eyes at Nikhil. "You. You don't like her, do you?"
"Me?! No! Never. We're just best f-friends!" Nikhil stuttered. 'I value my life more than my crush on Ragini. I don't want to be a pancake at this Romeo's hands. Before memory loss, Ragini said she's obsessed with him. Now, I think it's the other way around!'
Ragini pouted. "But after gradu-"
"Ragini I need more ice!" he made her stand and pushed her towards the kitchen. "Fast, please!"
Nikhil looked anywhere but at Laksh when they were alone.
"Laksh Maheshwari."
Parvati's voice made them stand.
Laksh looked away. "Breaking the meeting wasn't my inte-"
"I heard what Ratan said." she interrupted. "Did you break it?"
"Eh?"
"His nose."
Laksh grinned. "I'm sure I heard it crack."
"Good boy. Ragini fed you well."
"And I would really like it if she keeps taking care of me." Laksh uttered timidly, fearing Parvati's reaction.
However, it didn't seem he has worry judging by Parvati's smirk.
"One chance boy. One chance. That's all you get to win her back."
Laksh nodded with sincerity. "And I promise I won't disappoint."

Hope you like it GiftaRegildaFibi. Both your requests gave the opportunity to write an OS for a fake memory loss and one for a real one. 🤗
