RIVERS, DWARVES, AND A LION
PETER'S POV
Mr. Beaver was taking us through his secret underground tunnel, and Mrs. Beaver followed close behind with her large load of things she "needed" to bring along.
We were running away from Maugrim, the captain of the White Witch's secret police. Apparently, Edmund had told her where we were! The little brat! We ran as fast as we could, and finally we made it out safely. We were on our way to find Aslan!!!
THE NEXT DAY......
"Susan! Lucy! Wake up!"
I shouted as I shook them, waking them up from their deep sleep.
"What is it, Peter?" Susan asked. "It's still so early!"
"I know, but we need to start moving now! We have to get a head start! And besides, the ice path is beginning to melt! If we don't get started now, we won't be able to get to Aslan! If we don't get to Aslan, we won't be able to save Edmund!"
They woke up and stood on their feet. We were running towards the river that was hopefully still covered in ice so we could take a shortcut. As we took the winding path towards the ice river (thank goodness it was still frozen) I heard a growl from up above.
"You've got to be joking!"
I muttered. It was the White Witch's secret police!
"Run!" I shouted.
We ran to the ice river, and as I stepped on the first block of ice, I felt it slipping.
No, not this! This isn't a good time for this!!
Susan and Lucy both looked at me with worried expressions and I wasn't that good with supporting them.. I was just as worried as they were.
"Just follow where I put my feet." I told them.
We did pretty good at first, but then a wolf jumped in front of me! He growled and I immediately pulled out my sword.
"Oh, put that away." He growled, menacingly.
"Someone might get hurt." He warned.
"Peter, put it away!" Susan yelled.
"You don't even know how to use one! The wolf is right."
"No time like the present." I said and she rolled her eyes; she knew how stubborn I could get.
"Fine." She replied, smirking. "Then I'm with you."
She smiled and grabbed an arrow, slid it into her bow and shot for the sides of the river.
WHAT WAS SHE PLANNING TO DO WITH THAT??
Then it hit me. Well, actually, it hit the wolf. Hard. Ice was falling everywhere, and I plunged my sword into an ice block that was the biggest one I could find.
"Hold on to me." I told them.
All at once, a huge wave of ice cold water engulfed us for a while. After we resurfaced, Susan and I coughed like crazy. Our coats were soaked with the freezing water that made us even colder. I held onto both of them with all of my strength until the ice reached the other side of the river. I helped Susan off, but then, I frantically looked for Lucy. I held her coat, but nothing more..
"Lucy!!!" Both Susan and I screamed. "Lucy!!!!!"
Without thinking twice about it, I dove back into the freezing water, trying to find Lucy. Finally, I spotted her about five feet under the water. She was motionless, and I felt so sick to my stomach. I took her into my arms and pulled her up to the surface, swimming against the current, pulling her up to the shore. Susan looked at me, super scared. I frantically tapped her cheek, but I got no response. I plugged her nose and breathed into her mouth. I noticed her chest slowly rise, so it was working. I continued doing this for a while, but then I stopped. I looked over at Susan, who had tears streaming down her face. Then, all of a sudden, Lucy started coughing! I'd never been happier to hear that noise! She fluttered her eyelids, and I pulled her into a hug. She still coughed and I put my hand on her forehead.
"She's burning up." I told Susan.
"We need to get her to Aslan very soon before she gets worse."
RAELYN'S POV
"Having fun yet?" A voice cackled.
I looked out to the cell door where a dwarf stood prodding over me. He walked in and I backed up to the other side of the cell. He held a whip, and my face went dark.
"What do you want?" I asked.
I looked away from him, and I felt the whip come down on my back. I let out a scream, and I heard the other boy in the dungeon banging on the wall shouting:
"Let her out! Stop it!"
But that was only fuel feeding the dwarf to keep whipping me. He laughed at me every time he'd whip me. All of a sudden, there was a huge light that blinded the dwarf and an arrow hit his chest, and he fell to the ground. Then, somehow my chains fell off of my feet, and a voice yelled at me saying
"Go!"
I didn't think twice about anything, I just started running for the outside of the ice castle. Once I was outside, I saw a Lion standing there. I didn't feel scared though, and for some reason I ran for the lion. I grabbed onto his mane and sat on his back. He smiled at me and flew away with me on him.
Wait did I just say and the lion flew away??? What's going on here?!?!
EDMUND'S POV
It was completely dark; out of my cell window I could see the moon shining with all the stars.
All this time you've tried to be the moon.
I thought to myself.
You've always wanted to be the biggest, most noticed person in the whole world. Now, you're just a measly star that's about to let out its last bit of light! Maybe the beavers are right. Maybe Aslan is the answer after all. Maybe Aslan is my light in the midst of the darkness.
Then I felt something hit me on the head. Hard on the head. I looked up one more time at the full moon, then I blacked out.
THE NEXT DAY......
PETER'S POV
Susan and I were on our way to Aslan with Lucy on my shoulders. She was sleeping and not really conscious to anything that went on.
"There!" Susan pointed. "Is that Aslan's camp?" She asked.
"Only one way to find out." I replied.
We walked down the hill and were greeted by creatures with shocked faces. We got to the largest tent and everyone started to kneel down.
"We want to see Aslan!" I shouted to the tent.
A large Lion comes walking down and Susan and I knelt down and I placed my sword into the ground.
"Welcome, son of Adam and daughters of Eve. Peter, Susan, Lucy. But where is the fourth?"
I looked up at him with sadness in my eyes.
"He's in the hands of the White Witch. He's been there for a couple days, now."
At this, the creatures around us start whispering.
"The daughter of Eve, Lucy? Is she not feeling well?" Aslan observed.
"No, she's not well. She fell into a freezing cold river as the ice was melting. I think she has a pretty high fever, Sir."
"Raelyn!" He bellowed. Where did I know that name from?
A young girl came out of a tent and started running towards Lucy.
"Raelyn is very good with curing the sick and healing the wounded. She'll help Lucy."
"Yes sir." Raelyn responded. She looked me in the eye, and a shocked look appeared on her face.
"Why, your the boy from London!" She exclaimed.
"Indeed I am. How did you get here?"
"It takes quite a bit of explaining, and I have someone to attend to. We'll have plenty of time to talk later, though."
She carried Lucy in her arms and took her to her tent.
"We need to discuss a plan to save the fourth Son of Adam."
Aslan explained.
"But first, have the cooks prepare a welcome meal for our King and Queens of Narnia!"
