PROPHECIES, BANERETTES, AND ALLERGIES

EDMUND'S POV

We've been waiting for what seems like a lifetime. I'm sitting on the ground pulling out the grass around me and throwing it on Peter's head. He didn't seem to care, or even notice for that matter. He was just staring at the ground like I was, waiting for Aslan to come out. I noticed that the sun was already starting to set; we have been waiting for over two hours by now!! The suspense is causing my stomach to churn, and I'm starting to feel sick. After a while, Aslan, the White Witch, and Raelyn slowly walk out of the tent, and we all stand up. The Witch looks straight at me with an evil smile.

Why isn't anyone saying anything? I wonder. Just get it done and over with!

"She has renounced her claim on the Son of Adam's blood!!" Aslan exclaims.

Cheers vibrating throughout the crowds of Narnians cause me to burst out in cheerful laughter. I grab Lucy and twirl her around and hug her; she squeezes back super hard, even hurting me, but I don't care. Susan and Peter make their way through the Narnians to me and we hug for a long time. I'm so relieved!!

I looked back over my shoulder to smile at Raelyn, but she didn't meet my eyes with the same joyous expression. I even saw a tear slide down her cheek! I walk over towards her to ask her what's wrong.

"Raelyn? Are you alright?" I ask her. She's looking at the grass obviously avoiding my gaze.

"Ya, I'm fine. I'm just tired, I think I need some sleep and time to think." She ran back to her tent and shut the door (flap, curtain, whatever😜).

Maybe I should get some rest too.

"Peter" I call.

"Yes? What's the matter?" He asks. I guess I have a blank expression on my face, I'm still trying to figure out why Raelyn was acting the way she did.

"I'm kind of tired." I lie. "Im gonna get some sleep. See you at dinner." I start heading towards my family's tent; and within ten minutes I was asleep.

PETER'S POV

The rest of the afternoon we celebrated the renounced claim on Edmund, but I knew there was some price to pay for this "kind deed" that the White Witch did. I went to the main circle of tents that hold battle plans, armour and other weapons.

I was greeted by Orieus the half man half horse, and he decided to show me the prophecies. He welcomes me into the biggest tent, and I almost fall over in surprise. It's the most beautiful thing I ever saw!! Gold and silver hung from the tent in thin strings glistening from the setting sun.

As I walk inside the tent, Aslan greets me with a serious face.

"Good evening, Son of Adam. Come, sit with me. I have much to tell you about leading an army in battle if the time should arise."

I sit down on a cushion in the middle of the floor, sinking in while looking at the map Aslan had set before me.

"Even before this, I must tell you a prophecy from long ago.
Before the great Aslan makes his leave
Four Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve
Must govern and rule the Narnian land
From the thrones of Cair Paravel.

However, evil powers will oppose
And the White Witch; as the legend goes
Will threaten the Kings and Queens of old
With the Son of Adam's life.

And even so, there comes a day
Where the warrior, Aslan's banerette
Will face the Witch, whom she will slay
And grant the Narnians peace.

Though the Witch seems to have won,
Her troubles have only jus begun.
Through war and battle, endless strife;
She'll stop at nothing to have Aslan's life.

Aslan looks up at me, saying nothing for a long time. I keep staring at them poem, reading it over and over until the entire prophecy is embedded in my mind.

"May I ask you something that doesn't quite make sense?"

"Of course, child. Anything you need to know."

"Who is Aslan's banerette?"

He doesn't respond, and I wonder why. He starts to walk outside of the tent, and I follow him. I follow his gaze, and my eyes fall on a Raelyn. What?
I shoot a glance to Aslan, and he looks at me, smiling. Not a word is spoken, he just walks away.

"Susan! Lucy! Dinner!" I yell to the girls' tent. They appear a few seconds later. Susan as wearing a beautiful green dress and Lucy was wearing light blue.

"Where's Edmund?" Lucy asks.

"He's in our tent. I'm going to wake him up. You want to watch?"

The girls both look at me and laugh, smiles spreading across their faces, giving me enthusiastic nods.

As we approach the tent, I signal for the girls to stop giggling so loud and be quiet. We creeped up to the door (again whatever the thing is) and I jump inside.

Though I hoped to get a hilarious response of him jumping up and falling out of his bed, I got no such response.

"Ed? Edmund?" He wasn't on his bed! He was kneeling down on the floor clutching his throat!!

"Edmund? Are you okay? What happened to you?"

He weakly turns around, tears streaming down his face.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" He quickly shakes his head. "Susan, go get Raelyn, she'll know what to do!"

Susan quickly obeys me and dashes out of the tent. I help Edmund to his feet, but I have to hold him up. He's too weak to even stand!

"What happened to you?"

All he did in reply was shrug his shoulders. HE HIMSELF don't even know.

"Susan said there was in trouble? Oh my gosh; Edmund!! What's wrong? What happened?"

Raelyn rushes into the tent and helps me put Edmund back on his bed.

"Peter, what happened to him? Why is he like this???" She asks with concern.

"I don't know!! Edmund doesn't even know!"

Edmund made some horrific gagging sounds.

"Wait! He's choking! Did you eat anything, Edmund?" Raelyn asks.

He shakes his head and puts his hands around his neck, squeezing it.

"He feels like his throat is closing up!! Does Edmund possibly have any allergies, Peter?"

"Only one, and that's coconut. He feels like he can't breathe when he comes in contact with it. Why?"

"Oh no! This is bad. This is REALLY REALLY bad!! When I was treating his wounds, I used coconut oil EVERYWHERE!! How are we gonna help him?"

My heart feels like it just sank to the pit of my stomach. His allergy is so extreme that even the smallest amount would be sickening, even life threatening!

"Susan, go get Lucy, quick! Maybe her healing cordial will help him, or at least give him a chance."

Susan left with a horrified expression on her face; it was easy to tell she was trying to hold back tears.

"For now, is there anything we can do for him?" I ask, fear controlling my voice.

"I don't know, Peter." Was all that Raelyn could reply.

A few minutes passed, and I was growing impatient for Lucy to come.

"Where are they?" I mutter to myself. Just at that moment, in the distance I hear a trumpet call!!

"That's Susan's horn! She's in trouble!" I strap on my sword.

"I'll stay here with Edmund until you return. Maybe I can think of a way to help Edmund." Raelyn looked down at Edmund with sympathetic eyes. "I'm so sorry." She whispers.

I run out of the tent, searching for my sisters....

"Aaaaah!!" I hear my sisters voices screaming. I look around frantically trying to find my sisters. Finally, I spot them up a tree. And, on the ground, wolves!!! The wolves are circling around the tree trying to get a chance to bite them!! I run in and point my sword at the growling wolves.

"Ugh, you again! How long does it have to take to finally get rid of you?" The first wolf growled.

"It'll be quite a long time. I'll never let you win!!"

Aslan comes running in with Orieus, and Aslan pins down one wolf with his paw. Orieus tries to do the same with the second.

"No," Aslan commands. "This is Peter's battle."

Orieus nods in understanding, and he steps back. I hold out my sword, realizing that I have no idea what I'm doing. But, Aslan has faith in me, so I know that I am capable.

"How sad. It all has to end now! And you're so young, too. Oh, but if you surrender to the White Witch, your life will be spared. Think about it."

"I won't surrender. Soon, there won't be a White Witch to surrender to!"

This really got the wolf mad, and he charged at me! He pounced on top of me with all his force, sinking his teeth in my shoulder. However, as he pounced me, I lunged my sword into its stomach.

Susan's POV
(Past tense)

I screamed as I saw the wolf pounce on Peter. He let out a cry of pain as he hit the ground, and neither wolf nor Peter showed any signs of movement. As Lucy and I made our way down the tree, Aslan released the wolf he had pinned down sending him whimpering and running back into the forest.

"Orieus," Aslan whispered. "Follow him. He'll lead us to the White Witch."

Orieus once again nodded, and he took a band of soldiers with him in pursuit of the wolf.

Lucy and I ran over to Peter's side, and we shoved the wolf off of Peter's body. He was still conscious, but he had a terrible wound in his shoulder from where the wolf bit him. We helped him to his feet, and Lucy looked around.

"Peter, where's Edmund?" She asked.

My heart plummeted into the pit of my stomach.
