BATTLES, DYING, AND DEAD

Extra note, this battle scene won an honorable mention in the Rose Gold Awards!! Here's my fabulous sticker, created by ImaginatorAF. Thanks for such a beautiful sticker!

Hey!! So it's the BATTLE SCENE!!! I'm so excited I've been working on this since September and I hope you love it as much as I do!!!
Previously on Raelyn the Merciful...

"Are you with me?" I asked Orieus, who was standing by my side. He pulled out his sword and looked me square in the eye.

"To the death." He solemnly replied.

I raised my sword to the oncoming enemy, and we rode our horses into the battlefield.
.......................................

Edmunds POV

I stared in awe as I scanned the scene around me. I saw the white witch in her chariot. My stomach churned, nervously. I had encountered with her before, and it wasn't pretty. I stood amongst the other Narnian soldiers, our armor glistening in the sunlight.

A Narnian blew his trumpet, and we clashed with the other army.

I fought with my sword and had success. I ran towards a soldier who looked like a weak link and clashed my sword against his. Okay, he was stronger than I thought. Just like my fight with Raelyn, I wasn't on my horse. My horse had already been shot with an arrow.

I swung and he ducked. He swung at my left arm but I blocked it with my shield. He swung at my legs and I jumped over it. I threw myself onto the enemy, like a wild boar I fought, yelling and screaming along with the others who vowed vengeance on Aslan. I swung at his sword again and knocked it out of his grasp. Taking the opportunity, I stabbed him.

After that, I struck down a minotaur, two goblins, and a ghoul. Then, I saw something horrifying. Just as I thought we were gaining an advantage, the white witch held her wand that could turn anything into stone. She struck our soldiers, left and right! I couldn't believe it. I knew something must be done.

"Hurry! You must find your sisters and get back to safety!" Mrs. Beaver told me.

"What about Peter?" I asked.

"He is of age to be at war. You are just a child! Hurry along! This is getting much too out of hand! Go!" She commanded me.

"No!" I shouted. "If Peter fights, so will I! He's not King yet." I unsheathed my sword, and ran straight for the White Witch. As I did, I saw something that made me angry. The White Witch aimed her wand at Peter's back! What a coward! Not even fighting him sword to sword, face to face. I ran faster, and I jumped in front of her, trying to cut off her wand.

Unfortunately, she moved it out of the way just in time. She then tried stabbing me with it, and I seized the opportunity. I moved out of the way, and cut off the end of her wand, making it completely useless to her. Then, her cold green eyes pierced into my soul. She screamed.

PETER'S POV
I looked behind me, by now I was on top of a mountain fighting an ogre, and I saw a giant blue light. Edmund had destroyed the Witch's wand!! I couldn't believe it! I was so proud of him. But only for a short time did my expression stay this happy. The Witch took no time knocking his shield out of his hand, and stabbing him in the stomach!

Edmund's POV

I dint even know how it happened. It just did. Her strength and force was far greater than mine. Then pain was unbearable. As she took the sword out of my stomach, I had no strength left. I saw Lucy, not that far away, screaming. Clutching my throbbing stomach, I collapsed, falling to the ground in defeat. I was going to die.

Peter's POV

"No!" Lucy screamed in terrible fright. Wait, where'd Lucy come from?

"Edmund! No!" I yelled as he clutched his side, falling to the ground. The White Witch stabbed him again, this time leaving the dagger in his right shoulder.

That did it! I ran down from the mountain yelling "FOR NARNIA!" At the top of my lungs. The Witch turned around, she knew who I was after.

She grabbed Ed's sword off of the ground, pointing it at me.
"You next!" She yelled, smiling at me. I ignored her, and clashed swords with her, more and more anger pouring out of me with every blow I took. I got distracted, and glanced over at Ed. He wasn't moving! He had to be okay! Tears formed in my eyes as the White Witch clashed with me harder and harder with every strike.

I wasn't sure how much more I could take. All of a sudden, I slipped and fell over! I stood up, making sure that that wouldn't happen again. I fought with her for what seemed like an endless tyranny, the sound of clashing metal ringing throughout my ears. But then, out of nowhere, I heard ASLAN growling from the mountain top!

"Impossible!" The White Witch whispered to herself.

"Possible." I whispered back. At this, her face went dark and Aslan was running down the mountain. I tried, but I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Then, the White Witch swung at me while I wasn't looking, and I fell flat on my back from the powerful blow.

This is it. I thought to myself, so completely exhausted. As the White Witch lifted her sword over me, I closed my eyes. I couldn't watch. Then, it happened. She pinned me down in my shoulder with Edmund's own sword!
"Aaagghhh!" I cried out in pain. She then grabbed her own sword, and looked me square in the eye.
"You will die." She whispered, brandishing her sword in my face, mocking me. I was helpless now! How could I ever survive this?

Memories started flooding into my head. My life was flashing before my eyes! I closed my eyes, waiting for the final blow to come. I heard a girl yelling like a beast, it seemed familiar to me. I shut my eyes tight, waiting for the White Witch to just end it already!

A minute had gone by, and I decided to open my eyes. Everything was all blurry, and I tried to focus..
The first thing I saw was the White Witch! She was dead on the ground! Raelyn killed her!!! I looked around trying to get my barrings, and I saw Susan and Lucy running towards me. I had never been so happy to see my sisters! I tried standing up, but the sword in my shoulder still held me down into the ground.
"Peter!" My sisters both shouted. "Peter, you're wounded!" Susan cried as she took out the sword. I cringed at the terrible fiery pain in my shoulder.

"Susan! Lucy!" I sobbed as tears of joy flowed from my face. I hugged them for a long time.

"I love you two so much" I told them. They smiled and hugged back.

Susan tore off her sleeve and pressed it onto my shoulder, trying to stop the bleeding.

After I stood up, I noticed Susan's eyes nervously scanning the landscape.

"What's wrong, Susan?" I asked.

"Where's Edmund?" She replied.

I didn't respond to her. My eyes were flooding with tears. I ran off to the last place I saw him, hoping and praying that he would still have a chance.
We saw him lying on the ground, clutching his side, gasping for air.

His breaths were getting slower and more shallow with every passing moment. Then, we witnessed something horrifying. The Witch's right hand man... uh, right hand dwarf, rather, was standing above Edmund with an axe! I anxiously looked at Susan, who was already putting an arrow in her bow. Without flaw, she hit him in the chest, and he fell down dead.

We ran over to Edmund, and Susan put his head in her lap. She unstrapped his helmet and threw it to the ground beside her. She ran her fingers through his hair, tears streaming down her cheeks and falling onto Edmund's forehead.

He was gasping for air, and wheezed because of the wounds in his body that restrained him from breathing. Lucy looked at me with a frightened face. It was as if she was silently telling me do something, Peter!

"Lucy! Your cordial! Give Edmund the fireflower juice!" I told her.
She unbuttoned her sweater and grabbed the chain off of her neck.

"Its not here!" She exclaimed.

"What? But it has to be! We need to save Ed!" I stood up and looked around.

Raelyn's POV
I stood over the White Witch, proud and victorious. I just fulfilled the prophecies! I laughed in relief, but I soon stopped when I heard crying. I turned to see Edmund lying on the ground lifeless! Running over to him, I collapsed by his side next to Susan and Lucy. Not caring what they thought of me, I gently kissed his forehead, cold and lifeless and whispered,

"I love you Edmund."

Peter's POV

About fourty yards away, I found it on the ground, broken.

The fireflower juice was all over the ground! My heart sank into my stomach, and I fell to the ground on my knees weeping for my brother. I was thinking of all the times that I fought with him. How stupid I was! It was so useless to fight with him. I wanted nothing more in the world than to tell him how sorry I was and that I wanted to be friends with him.

I wanted him to know that I was truly sorry for being mad at him so often. I just wanted to hug him and be who we were before. I bent over, and ran my finger through the fireflower juice that was on the ground, and I ran back. Maybe that much would be enough! I ran over the hill, knowing that Ed was on the other side. I ran even faster then, trying to get him the fireflower juice in time.

As I got to the top of the hill, I froze seeing something terrible. Raelyn was running towards my sisters, and as she got close she collapsed by his side, crying gut wrenching tears that could be heard all through the battlefield.

Susan and Lucy had their heads laying on Ed! They were both crying and Narnians were quietly gathering around them! I felt like throwing up. I ran as fast as I could towards them. I even saw Aslan with tears in his eyes.

I knelt down beside Edmund and my sisters. Susan looked up at me with tear filled eyes.

"He's not breathing, Peter!" She cried. I stared at his motionless body in disbelief. I layed my hand over his heart, and I felt nothing. At this tears were streaming down my face, I wasn't even trying to stop myself. I grabbed Ed by his arms and pulled him into a hug. I squeezed him so hard, and I started bawling when I get no response from him. His body was completely limp, and I couldn't believing that this was happening!

If he would have only obeyed and taken Susan and Lu back, he would still be here! All the Narnians encircled us in sympathy, and we all hugged our brother. Aslan came forward and nudged me.

"Why is your face so sad?" He asked me.

"Why?" I asked. "Edmund is dead! That's why!" I said as I buried my face in my hand.

"I died to save his life, didn't I?" He asked.

"Sure you did!" I replied. "But what good does that do for him now?"

"Little child," he smiled. "How much you have yet to learn. Put your trust in me. Will you allow me to be alone with Edmund for a while?" He asked.

My head was still in my hand. I didn't feel much like talking, but I nodded. He put Edmund on the back of Orieus. Orieus walked into Aslan's tent, and Aslan followed.

2000 words!!!! So Edmund dies, Raelyn confesses her love, but will Edmund live? Find out what Aslan's plan is in the next chapter. I really hope you let me know what you think! Please vote for this chapter, I worked really hard on it!!
