God Starts His Will
Finding God's will for one's life is only part of the journey.
The greatest part of the journey is rather the fulfillment of His will. Once one has submitted and surrendered completely to the will of the Father, one must also realize a very important detail.
This is that the work and will of God is done only through the power of God. God will start His will in us.
Do not wander around the earth attempting to force God's will. The time will come when it is obvious where to start. Just as God closes doors, He opens them.
It is imperative that one understands how God's will is done. Just as one has surrendered their will to God, they must also surrender their power. Granted, it is a staple of the Christian faith that we do not possess much power in the first place.
However, that is the point. That is, when one tries to fulfill God's plan in their life, they fail to realize that it takes God's power to start it in the first place.
Perhaps scripture explains it best when it states with man these things are impossible, but with God all things are possible. When was the last time you truly contemplated that everything that every good thing comes from God?
Everything that sings, everything that is beautiful, dogs, kittens, flowers, mountains, all of it was created by God, and done so by His words. Oh, the power that is necessary for that to be done is truly amazing. We know this yet we attempt in our own feeble ability to work out the plans of the Lord in our own power.
Human power is an interesting concept in Scripture. It is there, but it is not what you would think it is. The summary from scripture of human power is this, the only thing we have the power to do is sin. We can only do this because every work that we do good or evil is offered up by sin-stained hands. We in our own power cannot do any good. We in our own power cannot do the work of God either, for there are two things preventing this.
The first is that no man seeks after God. As we all have sinned, our flesh has no desire for the things of God. None whatsoever. This though sounds rather judgemental is true. It is not true because I say so, but because the authoritative word of God says so. Because we do not seek after God, we do not in our flesh seek to do the will of God. This mandates that there is some sort of outside power that must come in, and give us the very strength to do this work. That is the power of God.
Secondly, what keeps us from doing the will of God through our own strength is the very fact that it is impossible for us to do so. Think of it in the way Christ said, Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. How simple it is to be a branch. All the branch has to do to bear fruit is sit there and receive nourishment from the vine or tree. What does the vine do? It has to send out its roots often under the ground in search of sustenance. These roots can extend hundreds of feet in the search. Next, it takes the roots bringing that substance back to the tree ultimately bearing fruit through the branch. The tree and vine do all the work.
The branch has no responsibility other than receiving from the vine. That is our duty in the will of God. That it is by His power that His work is started and done, and our only responsibility is to receive the harvest.
Give up your power, and stop trying to do what you cannot. Let God give you the power to start His will
