Upon the discovery of John B's father's compass, the rest of the pogues decided to go off in their separate ways, allowing the confused boy to process his thoughts.
Eli and JJ made their way to Talia's cafe, which was named after the girl herself. Eliana's Cafe.
Her father had been so excited when he found out he was having a daughter, that he built and gifted her mother the cafe she had always wanted whilst naming it after his beloved daughter. He even changed the name of his boat to The Eliana, which now also belonged to her mother.
The wind chimes jingled as Eli and JJ made their way into the cafe, the two happily greeting the older woman behind the glass counter.
"Damn, these look good," JJ drooled as he pressed his hands up against the glass like a child, staring at the various cakes and cookies in the display case.
"Hey, baby, hey, JJ," Talia greeted with a smile as she finished taking an order. "Is it just the two of ya?"
"Yeahh, I think the others have their own things to do," Eli answered before turning to assess the busy cafe. "Looks full today, do you need any help?"
"I'm okay, darling," Talia responded before turning to JJ, who stood awkwardly with his hands in his pockets as the various kooks in the establishment stared at him distastefully. "Would you like anything to eat, JJ?"
The blonde's stomach grumbled as he opened his mouth, causing Talia and Eli to laugh in sync.
"Well, that's not embarrassing at all," the blonde responded as he clutched his stomach, a grin on his face. "Any chance you'll spare me some food, Ms Valentine?"
Talia nodded with a smile as she reached over to ruffle his hair.. "You know I'll always be here to feed you, JJ. Take a seat, you two, I'll whip something up."
"Don't worry, mama, you look pretty busy," Eli responded as she began to tie up her hair, "I'll take care of it." She turned to JJ with an assuring gaze. "Why don't you go and sit outside, I won't be long."
True to her word, Eli didn't take long to put together two rice bowls for the pair, and even went ahead and added two glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice.
The girl expertly carried the tray out and set it down on the table, laughing at the way JJ grabbed his bowl and immediately started to shovel food into his mouth.
"Relax, no one is gonna steal it from you," Eli advised as she placed everything else on their table and set down the tray on the empty table next to them. JJ simply hummed in response, showing no sign of slowing down.
As Eli finally went to sit down, the sound of a motorbike pulling up next to the cafe caught her attention.
Her brow raised as the figure pulled off his helmet, revealing no one other than Oliver King himself.
"Well, well, well," Eli called out, causing JJ to look up, mid chew as he recognised the blonde who moved to sit a couple tables away.
He watched as Eli grabbed the tray again and walked up to the boy, slowly swallowing his food as he gripped tightly onto his cutlery.
"Hey there, Ellie," Ollie greeted as he looked up at the girl.
JJ scoffed from where he sat, casually leaning back in his chair. "She hates being called that."
Eli turned to find JJ scowling as he shoveled the fork in his mouth, awkwardly laughing him off.
"It's fine, JJ. Oh, you guys haven't met before have you?" she realised as she looked between the two. "Ollie, this is JJ, my best friend. JJ, this is Ollie, probably the only kook I can tolerate."
"What's up," Ollie greeted, to which JJ responded with a grunt and a nod.
"Charmin'."
"What brings you here?" Eli questioned as she looked down at the boy, who simply shrugged.
"I saw my favourite waitress was about today, so I decided to stop by."
"Aw," Eli responded as she hugged the tray to her body. "I'm flattered."
Ollie raised his brow as he precariously leant back against the chair, arms folded behind his head. "Who said I was talking about you? I was talking about your mother."
"Ugh, bitch," Eli cussed as she smacked him in the arm, causing the boy to laugh as he grabbed onto her wrist.
"I'm just kidding, you know you're my favourite girl."
JJ knew that he shouldn't, but the urge to pull out his gun was at an all time high. Instead, all he could do was carry on eating and try to not throw up over the scene he was witnessing.
"What can I get for you, then," Eli questioned.
"My usual please."
Eli stared at him with a deadpan expression. "It's been like two years, I have no idea what your 'usual' is."
"Ugh," Ollie responded with a jokey eye roll. "I'll take a French vanilla latte with oat milk. Lightly stirred, of course."
JJ snorted in disbelief, accidently choking on his meal in the process. Eli hurried over in alarm as he continued to choke, watching as his hand aggressively smacked his chest in an attempt to calm himself.
The girl quickly poured water from a jug into a glass, trying to ignore the stares of the tourists walking past the store.
"This is why I told you to slow down," Eli chided as he finally calmed down and took the water from her, downing it in one go.
"Yeah, yeah," he mumbled, sneaking a look at the other boy before picking his fork back up.
"I'll be back in a sec," she stated as she walked into the cafe again in order to fulfill Ollie's order. She looked up momentarily through the window as she made the drink, furrowing her brows over the heated gazes between the two blonde boys sitting outside.
"Here you are," Eli said as she placed the takeaway cup on Ollie's table, discarding the empty tray once again on an empty table. "This is the most kookiest sounding drink I've ever heard of."
"Your hair is looking pretty faded," Ollie suddenly announced, causing Eli to awkwardly comb through her faded pink hair.
"Yeah, I haven't decided what colour I'm gonna go next," she responded. "Maybe dark green? I dunno."
"I think you should go purple," he suggested.
"Maybe I will," Eli shrugged, finally walking back to JJ and sitting down across from him.
Right as Eli began to eat, JJ placed down his cutlery, suddenly looking serious.
"I don't feel very well," he announced, to which Eli furrowed her brows in concern. "My head hurts."
"What's wrong?" she gently questioned, leaning over to press the back of her hand against his forehead. "I don't think it's a fever or anything, is it like a headache?"
JJ nodded with a pout, hand catching onto her wrist as she tried to take it back. "I wanna go home."
"Okay," she nodded as she stood up, internally sighing as she looked down at the rice bowl that she had barely touched. "Lemme pack this up."
It didn't take long for Eli to pack up everything they needed and to bid her mother goodbye, before the two made their way back to JJ's parked bike.
Despite Eli insisting that JJ probably shouldn't be driving his bike with a headache, she couldn't win against him, and so she ended up on the back of his bike with two arms wrapped around his waist as they made their way to her home, praying that they wouldn't crash. Eli sure as hell wasn't gonna let JJ go back to his house if he felt ill, and it didn't take much convincing at all.
The girl dragged JJ into her room and forced him to lay down on her bed, laying the ice pack she grabbed from the freezer against his forehead.
"I heard human contact does wonders for illnesses," JJ suddenly rambled, causing Eli to raise a brow as she stared down at him.
"Does it now?" Eli questioned, to which JJ nodded in response, causing the ice pack to fall off his forehead.
"Yeah, I think the department of health made a discovery recently. But what do I know?"
Eli let out a little laugh as she settled down on the bed next to JJ, readjusting the ice pack. "If you wanted a cuddle you could just say that."
"It's science! I swear," he defended, the smile on his face betraying him as he wrapped an arm around Eli's shoulders and pulled her closer to his chest.
The girl simply grinned, hand reaching for his fingers so she could play with his rings.
"You know," the boy began as he absentmindedly played with her hair. "I think you should dye your hair blue next time."
"Should I now?" She questioned as she lifted her head to look at him, "Why blue?"
"You look good in blue," he shrugged. "Brings out the colour in your eyes."
Eli hummed in response as she laid her head back down. "Maybe I will."
