Y/N's POV:

I gotta say, I'm kinda nervous. I know I made a good impression with Mr. Steinfeld earlier at the firm, but I'm meeting Hailee's mother too. So yeah, I have to make a good impression.

I put on a green dress shirt, some pants and loafers

When I ring her doorbell, a little girl not older than five opens it and smiles at me

I also notice she's carrying a puppy, must be Hailee's

Y/N: Hello there.

The little girl keeps smiling 

Olivia: Where are your flowers?

Y/N: My flowers?

Olivia: You are on a date, you're supposed to bring flowers.

Y/N: Am I?

Hailee appears at the doorstep

Hailee: Yes, Y/N.

Olivia: Everyone knows that.

I smile

Y/N: How many dates have you been on?

She takes some time to think

Olivia: Six.

Y/N: Six? Sounds serious. Who's the lucky guy?

Hailee: Jason, right Olivia?

Olivia: He's not a guy, he's a boy. And he brings flowers.

I chuckle softly

Y/N: Well, maybe next time we can have a double date.

Hailee: Olivia, why don't you go upstairs?

Olivia then leaves us by the doorstep as she rushes upstairs

Y/N: Is there something you forgot to tell me here?

Hailee: What? About your daughter? See, that's funny because we slept together only a day ago.

Y/N: Ha-ha very funny.

Hailee: Olivia is my niece. She came with my brother and sister-in-law.

Y/N: So...I'm meeting the whole family?

Hailee: Come on, they'll love to meet you. I mean...my dad already met you earlier today, right?

Guess I'm meeting everyone, then...oh boy

Y/N: Yeah, did you tell him I was coming, specifically?

Hailee: No, I like a little mystery. I can imagine his reaction.

Y/N: Yeah...it's nice you find this whole situation funny. I don't.

Hailee chuckles

Hailee: Oh come on, you met him already. He won't kill you, okay?

Y/N: He met me earlier today because I was there as someone who was supposed to help him save people's jobs, not his daughter's...

I was about to say it, but stop it and see Hailee smiling at me

Hailee: Go on...

Y/N: Boyfriend?

Hailee: It sounds nice. Just one thing, though.

She pulls me in for a kiss 

After that, a woman who appears to be Hailee's mom catches us mid-kiss

Cheri: Hailee, oh...sorry.

We break the kiss and I awkwardly smile at Hailee's mom

Y/N: Hi...I'm Y/N. You must be Mrs. Steinfeld.

Cheri: Please, just Cheri. And dinner's ready, Haiz. Y/N, I hope you like branzino.

Cheri guides us to the dining room and I see Mr. Steinfeld there sitting by the dinner table alongside a young man, a couple of years older than me and Hailee. Definitely Hailee's brother

Peter: Y/N? What are you doing here?

Y/N: Hailee invited me. Didn't she tell you?

Cheri: If you used your phone more, you'd know they were hanging out in Miami a couple months ago, honey. Y/N, this is Griffin, by the way. Our first born.

Y/N: Pleasure to meet you.

I shake his hand

Griffin: McLaren F1, right? You're the rookie.

Y/N: Good to know my reputation precedes me.

Cheri placed the branzino on the table as Olivia enters the dining room with a blonde woman

Griffin: Y/N, this is Megan, my fiancé. 

I shake Megan's hand

Y/N: Nice to meet you.

Griffin: And this little girl is Olivia. Our daughter.

Y/N: We've met.

Olivia: I told him to bring flowers next time he comes to see aunt Hailee.

Peter raises his eyebrow

Peter: Flowers, huh?

I smile awkwardly at him and laugh

When we have dinner, I hardly look at Mr. Steinfeld

Griffin then talks to break the ice

Griffin: So Y/N...how do you know my dad?

Y/N: My uncle's law firm is dealing with your father's old company. I got an offer and I'm working on this case as a consultant. 

Griffin: I thought you were a racing driver.

Griffin said while taking a sip of his drink

Y/N: I still am, though. Just doing some side quests. Gotta keep life interesting when I'm not racing or in the sim.

Cheri: May I ask how a Formula 1 driver gets involved in corporate work?

Y/N: My father was a corporate lawyer before becoming Gordon Gekko 2.0. I was gonna be like him if I wasn't a driver. But I kinda like this part of corporate work even if it's just for a while.

Peter: I gotta say, you're quite talented for someone your age. How old are you, by the way?

Y/N: I'm 23.

Cheri: Hailee, you're a little quiet. Is something on your mind?

Hailee: No, not really. I'm just enjoying to see Y/N getting along with you guys.

I scoff and continue to eat my dinner

I gotta say, this dinner is going absolutely fantastic for me. Hailee's parents are really nice

I was scared, of course. But mainly because the last time I had dinner with a girlfriend of mine and her parents, didn't go out that well

A couple of minutes later, I'm having drinks with Griffin and Mr. Steinfeld while the girls hang out on the balcony

Y/N: So...Griffin, Hailee told me you're a racing driver as well.

Griffin: Yeah, I'm a drag racer. I also raced a couple of years in NASCAR, but it didn't work out. Drag racing is more my thing, though. But I also work at McKernon Motors in LA. I help design the engines and some other stuff.

I smile at Griffin when I have an idea...

Griffin can challenge Stensland for CEO

Y/N: That's cool. Do you also help on improving your car on your races?

Griffin: Sometimes. We're actually facing some issues with straight line speed. But once we have it sorted, we'll be back at full speed.

Y/N: Is it aerodynamics?

Griffin: Not really...it's power. The engine is way too heavy.

He shows me a picture of the car, a beautiful teal truck

Y/N: Hmm...have you tried using magnesium parts?

Hailee's POV: 

I'm trying to eavesdrop on Y/N's conversation with my dad and my brother when my mom comes over

Cheri: Sweetie, they're not cross-examining Y/N. He's doing fine...they're even laughing and all.

Hailee: I know...just seeing if they're talking about me.

I smile and keep looking at them talking

After a couple of minutes, Griffin, Megan and my parents leave and I offered to have Olivia over for the night. She's in the guest room with Brando and Martini watching TV

I go to the living room and see Y/N there

Y/N: Is she asleep?

Hailee: Not exactly. She want you to go up there and kiss her goodnight.

He chuckles

Y/N: I can do that...

I grab him by the hand and pull him close

Hailee: After that, I want you to come down here and kiss me goodnight.

He kisses me and goes upstairs towards Olivia's room

The morning after, Y/N and me are sleeping on the same bed when Olivia wakes him up to tell him she's hungry

Olivia: I'm hungry.

I try to get up, but Y/N doesn't let me

Y/N: I got it. Get some more sleep.

He's definitely father material

Am I...no...come on Hailee...you've just been in a few dates with him, don't think about these things now

Third Person POV:

After some more minutes of sleep, Hailee goes to the kitchen and sees Olivia eating breakfast while Y/N washes some of the dishes

Y/N: Good morning.

Martini and Brando start jumping on Hailee's leg

Hailee: Hi babies...something smells amazing here.

Y/N: Made you an omelette.

She sits on a chair next to Olivia

Olivia: Uncle Y/N makes the best pancakes, Aunt Hailee.

Y/N blushes slightly after hearing this

Hailee looks at him and notices his cheeks a little pinker than usual

Hailee: So...you, my father and Griffin. How was it? Did you guys talk about me? 

Y/N: Little bit. But the main topic was Griffin.

Hailee: Griff? What about him?

Y/N explains the whole McKernon Motors situation to Hailee

Y/N: ...This is why we want Griffin to challenge Stensland for CEO.

Hailee looks at him with a confused look on her face

Hailee: That's...a lot.

Y/N: We're gonna take him to the board and hopefully they'll see that he's a better fit for the role

After that, the apartment's doorbell rings

Y/N: Must be him. I told him to pick Olivia up and I'll meet them at 2 P.M.

Later that day, Y/N, Griffin and Peter are outside the McKernon Motors offices in Manhattan

Y/N sees that Griffin looks uneasy

Y/N: Hey...relax, breathe. I know you didn't want this from the start, but I guarantee you this is for a good cause. Just remember what I told you last night for your speech. Synergistic Alliances and all that bullshit, alright? Now we're gonna go inside and stick it to Stensland.

Griffin takes a deep breath and the three of them enter an empty meeting room and they see two men there

Jonathan: Peter, Griffin and Mr. Specter. You almost got me...the whole delay in the due diligence. I thought it didn't smell right, so I put two and two together and I figured you were coming after my CEO appointment. So since I'm still within my rights to move a board meeting, I did.

Travis: Mr. Stensland was voted in today at noon.

The other man next to Jonathan was Travis Tanner, a shady lawyer and former nemesis to Y/N's father

Jonathan: And tomorrow the board will ratify the sale of the factory. And now I'm firing your firm...and I'm firing you, Griff. You can cry to daddy all you want, but he won't be able to revert this situation since he's retired.

Stensland and Tanner walk out the room and Y/N looks at Griffin, who was still overwhelmed by everything that happened

Y/N: Griffin, look...I can still fix this.

He looks up at Y/N and raises his voice

Griffin: No, I'm done with your fixer shit! You told me this was for a good cause and look where that got me. How could you be so naive, huh? Harvard Business, Harvard Law my fuckin' ass. You should stick to racing...goddamnit, I can't believe my sister is dating an idiot.

Y/N: This isn't fair...

Griffin storms out of the place and leaves Y/N and Peter by themselves

Meanwhile, at Hailee's apartment...

Hailee's phone rings while she was watching some TV

She picks it up to see Ella calling her

Hailee: Hey, hey, hey...look who it is.

Ella: Uh...hey Haiz...

Hailee could hear sniffing and sobbing from Ella's side

Hailee: El...what's wrong? Is it Mick? Did he do something to you?

Ella scoffs softly

Ella: Well, if you want to get technical, he did...but it wasn't anything bad. Quite the opposite, actually.

Hailee sighs 

Hailee: What happened, Ella?

Ella: Haiz...I'm pregnant.
