Racing and Babies
Third Person POV:
Y/N and Hailee's Villa, Beverly Hills
November 2022
8 A.M.
5 Days before Abu Dhabi GP
Hailee and Y/N are on their bed, cuddling and kissing. The soft glow of ambient lighting accentuates their connection, casting a gentle hue across the room. The days leading up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix have been a mix of relaxation and anticipation
Hailee: You know, even after all this time, I still get butterflies.
Y/N: Well, I must be doing something right, then.
Hailee giggles and playfully pinches his arm
Y/N smiles
Y/N: So...Ella is pretty far up. Do you know, when she's due?
Hailee: I think she mentioned something about November or early December. You should ask Mick directly when we meet up.
Y/N: Yeah, definitely. It's going to be exciting. Imagine Mick as a dad.
Hailee: Well...one thing I know is that he's going to do for that kid what Michal couldn't do for him. And what about us? Ever thought about it?
Y/N: Thought about what?
Hailee: Y'know...little ones running around the house.
Y/N chuckles nervously
Y/N: I...I mean...not since that time you told me your period was late. I...no.
Hailee then gets on top of him
Hailee: Do you...wanna talk about it? I mean, we already live together, so we might as well talk about it.
Y/N always loved kids, he had a special way with them that he just couldn't describe it. But the thought of having one was scary to him. He felt unready and not fit to be a father, at least at the moment
He pauses for a moment and thinks
Y/N: I mean...I'd...I'd love to. But...
Hailee: But what?
Y/N: But we got a lot on our plates right now...you slowly going back into acting, singing. And knowing that in some days I can't be around makes me want to take my time...our time. Look, I want this more than everything, but we gotta find the right moment. You got lots of awards to win and...I'll try to win a championship
Hailee smiles
Hailee: Like I said before, we'll find a way to make it work.
Y/N: We always do.
But just as they were about to kiss again, the door swings open slowly, revealing Donna's amused expression. The sudden intrusion disrupts the tender moment, and Y/N and Hailee pull away
Donna: Oh, goodness! I really should've knocked.
Y/N's face turns a deep shade of crimson, his embarrassment palpable
Y/N: MOM!
Hailee, quick to react, swiftly lifts the covers up to conceal herself, her face equally flushed with embarrassment
Donna: I'll...uhh...wait for you guys outside.
Hailee buries her face in Y/N's chest in embarassment
Hailee: Imagine if she caught us doing something... naughtier.
Y/N: I'd never hear the end of it. We should...get dressed.
Hailee: I don't know, Maverick. This whole shenanigan got me sweating. Why don't we head to the shower?
Y/N: You're so naughty...
...
After a hot, steamy and very sexy shower, Y/N and Hailee go downstairs and meet with Donna, who had Martini and Brando on the living room couch with her
Maximus, however, was growling at her. The German Shepherd, who was once a cute puppy, now is even bigger than his two Yorkshire siblings
Donna: Maximus doesn't seem too pleased with my visit.
Donna tries patting his head, but he only growls more
Y/N: I think he's just being protective. It's his instinct, after all. Maximus, behave!
The dog quickly lowers his guard and lies down, whimpering
Y/N: Mom, why are you here?
Donna: I was calling you so we could have breakfast together. But you weren't answering your phone, so I got worried and came here. Didn't think you'd be busy, though.
Donna looks at him and teases
Y/N: Mom!
Hailee chuckles
Hailee: I'll prepare breakfast. You two can catch up.
Donna: I can help you, Hailee.
Hailee: No need, Donna. Make yourself comfortable.
Donna: Did Y/N ever told you you're a keeper?
Hailee grinned at Donna's remark while Y/N looked slightly embarrassed.
Hailee: He might have mentioned it once or twice.
Donna laughed, and Y/N couldn't help but smile
Hailee then goes to the kitchen, making Martini and Brando follow her
Donna then approaches Y/N and starts whispering
Donna: Her birthday is coming up.
Y/N: I know.
Donna: You told me you wanted to make a surprise.
Y/N: I did...
Donna: Well?
Y/N: I wanted to give her a car for her birthday. But not just any car...a vintage Camaro like the one in Bumblebee. A dog that we can adopt when we're together. And finally, to her birthday party, I'll need you to use your Donna skills...
Donna: Why?
Y/N: I want Tina Turner singing on her birthday as a surprise attraction.
Donna raised an eyebrow, impressed.
Donna: You're really going all out for her, aren't you?
Y/N: She deserves it, Mom. She's been my rock, my partner in crime. And I just want to make her happy.
After that, Hailee comes into the living room
Hailee: Breakfast's ready.
...
Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi
Saturday, Post Qualifying
Y/N decided to take his and Hailee's family, Liam, Greer and Hailee to watch the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi
Y/N, wearing a pair of stylish sunglasses, looked out at the track, envisioning the race tomorrow. His family and friends settled into their seats in the McLaren garage, sharing laughs and capturing the moment with selfies and group photos
With the championship title already secured by Max Verstappen, the battle for the runner-up spots added an extra layer of excitement to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc, Sergio Perez, and Y/N Specter were all eyeing that coveted second place in the drivers' championship, knowing that a strong performance in the final race could make all the difference
Y/N, who was starting at fifth tomorrow, sees a chance to make one of the greatest rookie seasons in F1 history
After changing into some more comfortable clothes, Y/N sees Mick exiting the Haas motorhome with a sad look
Y/N, familiar with the highs and lows of the racing world, approached Mick with a sense of friendship
Y/N: Mick, everything alright?
Mick, momentarily lost in thought, looked up to see Y/N's concerned expression
Mick: I...I don't have a seat for next season...Guenther laid me off.
Y/N frowned, realizing the gravity of Mick's situation. Losing a seat in Formula 1 could be a significant setback, especially for a driver who showed promise.
Y/N: Damn, Mick. I'm sorry to hear that. That's a tough break.
Mick nodded, the weight of disappointment evident on his face.
Mick: Yeah, it's part of the game, I guess. But it still stings.
Y/N: Absolutely. If you need anything...whether it's advice, connections, or just someone to grab a drink with. I'm here for you.
Mick managed a small smile, appreciating the offer of support.
Mick: Thanks, Y/N. It means a lot.
Y/N: Does...Ella know about this?
They both look at Ella at a distance, who was talking to Hailee in the McLaren garage, her pregnant belly was huge, making it look like the baby could come at any moment
Mick: Yeah...she knows. She said she'll support me to the fullest.
Y/N sees himself in that situation. Imagine carrying one of the biggest legacies in this sport's history and getting fired over some stupid team principal's order. And also having a child on the way. That alone had set Y/N over the edge
Y/N: Gimme a minute.
With angry steps, Y/N directs himself to the Haas F1 Team motorhome
Getting in there, he is approached by Devon, who touches his shoulder
Devon: You can't get in he-
Y/N: Touch me again and I'll break your fucking hand.
Devon steps back, slightly shocked by Y/N's intensity. Y/N glares at him, his frustration and anger evident.
Y/N: Where's Guenther?
Devon, a bit uneasy, points towards the back of the motorhome.
Devon: He's in the meeting room.
Y/N storms in the room and sees Guenther, who was having a meeting on his computer with headphones on. Possibly talking to Nico Hulkenberg, Haas' newest driver for 2023
Guenther: ...Willkommen bei Haas, Nico. Wir hoffen, dass wir eine tolle Zukunft mit Ihnen haben.(...Welcome to Haas, Nico. We hope we have a great future with you.)
Y/N then grabs his computer and slams it into the table
Y/N: You don't like when people fok smash doors, let's see if you like when people fok smash your computer.
Guenther: Y/N...what the fuck!
Y/N: You just fired Mick.
Guenther: I make decisions for the team, and if you can't accept that...
Before he can finish, Y/N cuts in, his tone cutting through the air.
Y/N: This isn't about the team. Mick deserved better. If there was one person that should be gone, this person is Devon Butler. Get rid of him while you still can...
Y/N leaves the meeting room and gets taunted by Devon afterwards
Devon: Don't worry, mate. Mick will have enough time for his son...unlike his father.
Y/N: What?
He turns around and punches Devon in the face
The punch connects with a satisfying impact, and Devon stumbles backward, holding his face in pain
Devon: You're gonna regret that, Specter.
Y/N, fueled by anger, advances toward Devon, ready for more. The situation escalates quickly, and the surrounding team members watch with a mix of shock and anticipation. Security personnel move in to defuse the situation.
Security: Alright, that's enough! Break it up!
Now, all eyes are on Y/N after punching a fellow driver on the paddock
The incident quickly becomes the focal point of discussions among the F1 community. Journalists start reporting on the drama, and social media lights up with speculations and opinions. Y/N's unexpected clash with Devon Butler adds a new layer of intrigue to an already tense atmosphere
He then returns to the McLaren garage to his family and friends
Y/N takes a deep breath, feeling the weight of the situation. He knows he owes an explanation to those who care about him.
Y/N: Look, things got out of hand. I... I just found out Mick got laid off, and then Devon said something about Michael...I lost it.
Lando, who was there as well, comforts him
Lando: Well...if it's any worth, I think he's a little bitch
Harvey: Y/N, you can't let him get into your head. If you lose control, he wins.
Liam: Mate, I get it. But you gotta keep your head in the game. Picking a fight with Butler isn't gonna fix anything.
Y/N's mother, Donna, steps forward with a stern look.
Donna: Y/N, I understand you're upset, but violence is never the answer. We'll figure this out, but you need to keep your composure
Y/N: Thank you, guys. Can we...just go back?
After that, they all go to the hotel in their respective rooms and rest till tomorrow comes
...
Race day
Before the race started, Y/N was already on the track doing his formation lap with the other 19 drivers. Meanwhile in the Ferrari team garage, Florence was supporting her new "friend" Carlos Sainz. This new "friendship" of theirs was causing quite a ruckus in the media
Seeing Florence on one of the TVs, Hailee calls her to joke about the whole situation
Hailee: You got quite a reputation in this paddock now... Florence Pugh: Carlos Sainz' "friend".
Florence: Haiz...he took me to go rallying in Brazil last weekend. It was amazing!
Hailee: Oh, so you guys are travelling together now?
Florence: It's not like that...we're friends, y'know. Just knowing each other.
Hailee laughs
Hailee: Yeah yeah. Listen, we'll talk after the race. You support your man and I'll support mine, cool?
Florence: See you later, Haiz...
After that, Hailee hangs up and sees Ella coming towards her from the Haas garage
Hailee: Hey you...why are you here?
Ella: I'm not staying at Haas' garage after what they did to Mick...
Ella groans and puts her hand on her pregnant belly before taking a deep breath
Hailee: Whoa...El? You alright?
Ella: Yeah, I think so. Just felt a bit of a twinge, but it's probably nothing. Stress, maybe.
Hailee: Stress is the last thing you need right now. Let's get you somewhere more comfortable. The race is about to start anyway. We'll figure things out later. Stay cool for little Michael, okay?
Meanwhile, David Croft, who was watching the scene in the transmission, decides to comment about it:
"And would you look at that. Hailee Steinfeld, who is Y/N Specter's girlfriend is helping Ella Hunt, who is Mick Schumacher's girlfriend and...future mother to his son. Congratulations to Mick, by the way."
"All this weekend was unfortunate for Mick. He was fired from Haas and that supposedly happened at a hotel lobby."
"No wonder Y/N Specter was so angry about it."
...
Lap 39
Mick, who was not having a good weekend, was chasing the Williams of Nicholas Latifi, but tags the rear, making him and the Canadian driver spin around
"Five second time penalty for Mick Schumacher for causing a collision. It's a very tough weekend for the German driver."
Watching this from the garage with Hailee, Ella hisses in pain and breathes deeply and touches her belly again. The stress of watching her boyfriend almost crash out of the race was too much on her and the baby...who was starting to want to come out
Hailee, noticing Ella's distress, rushes to her side
Hailee: El...relax, okay? Deep breaths. Hey! Let me get some medical assistance here!
Ella grips the edge of her seat tightly, trying to regulate her breathing through the sudden onset of pain
Ella: Haiz...I'm scared.
Hailee: We gotta get you to a hospital.
Ella: No...no...I can wait...wait till the race is over.
Hailee: El, sweetheart, the baby... we can't risk waiting too long. Let's get you to the hospital now. They'll keep us posted about the race, alright?
Ella nods, her concern for Mick's race still evident, but overridden by the impending arrival of their child. Liam, who was also at the garage with a pass, offers to drive them to the hospital
Lap 58
Y/N was now chasing after Charles Leclrec, who was at second place, but a couple of seconds behind was Checo, who was still wanting to finish behind Max
Whoever finished second, would have the runner up spot
"Y/N Specter...can't quite close in on Charles Leclerc."
But it just wasn't enough, Charles was way too fast for him tonight. The Monegasque driver secured a second place in the race, making him the vice champion of the 2022. Y/N was the third in the drivers championship after a brilliant year.
End result: Max 1st Charles 2nd Y/N 3rd Checo 4th
After the race, Y/N celebrates with Max and Charles before returning to the garage, only to see that Hailee and Ella weren't there
Y/N: Mom? Where's Hailee?
Donna: Liam took her and Greer to the hospital. Ella's going into labor.
Y/N's eyes widen
Y/N: HOLY SHIT! I gotta warn Mick.
He turns around and runs towards the Haas team garage
Y/N: MICK! MICK!
Mick: Y/N? Did you see Ella? I thought she'd be here.
Y/N: She's going into labor. Come on, let's go to the hospital!
Mick: HOLY SHIT! We gotta go now!
Without even changing their clothes, the two drivers run as fast as they could to get in their car in the parking lot
A couple of minutes later, they arrive at the hospital and rush to the receptionist
Mick and Y/N, dressed in their racing suits, approach the hospital receptionist with urgency. The receptionist, initially surprised at their unusual attire, quickly realizes the situation might be more critical than a fashion choice.
Receptionist: How can I help you?
Y/N, slightly out of breath from the sprint, explains
Y/N: Ella Hunt, she's in labor.
Receptionist: Okay, let me check.
The receptionist quickly types into the computer, scanning through the information.
Receptionist: Ah, yes. She's in the delivery room on the third floor. You can take the elevator, and there should be signs to guide you.
They go up and Mick runs to the delivery room
Mick: Wish me luck...and stick around!
As Mick enters the delivery room, Y/N takes a moment to collect himself. He then decides to find Hailee
Y/N: Hey...
Hailee hugs him
Hailee: You smell like bubbly.
Y/N: Well...I finished third on the race. Couldn't get changed because my mom told me about Ella.
Hours go by when Mick finally calls them to see his and Ella's son in the hospital's nursery
As they approach, Mick points to one of the cribs, and Y/N's eyes starts welling up with tears. There, wrapped in a tiny blanket, lies Ella and Mick's newborn son.
Mick: Meet your nephew.
Y/N's heart swells with emotion as he gazes at the little bundle of joy. The baby is peacefully sleeping, oblivious to the world around him. Hailee is equally captivated, a proud smile on her face.
Hailee: He's beautiful, Mick. Ella must be exhausted.
Mick nods, his eyes reflecting a mix of joy and fatigue.
Mick: Yeah, she's resting now. It's been quite a day.
Mick knocks on the glass and tells the nurse to bring little Michael over to them
Y/N: Welcome to the world, Michael...
Y/N said, tears streaming down his face, a mix of joy and love while looking at the most beautiful little human he had ever seen
He extends his arms, and the nurse gently places the bundled baby into Y/N's careful embrace.
Y/N: Hey there, little Michael. You're a part of an incredible family, and your dad is one of the strongest guys I know. You're going to do amazing things...
