part 18
***back to current events***
Until a trial could be conducted, weeks had to pass and in the meantime Yeonjun and you were kept in prisons. During that time your boyfriend made a very disturbing discovery.
It was an already regular day in prison: everyone got up at 5:30am, they had to make their beds, had to wait in line to go to the bathroom and take a shower, then eat breakfast in the cafeteria and afterwards they had to take laps through the yard. Afterwards everyone had to get to do the work they were signed up for. Yeonjun had to fold the laundry in the laundry room together with two more other inmates.
As one guard just did his checkup on them and left the room again, another inmate rushed inside, Yeonjun didn't really give him much attention as this guy was talking to one of the others folding laundry. His voice sounded familiar though.
So, out of curiosity he looked up from the clothes and saw right into Jake's face. Yeonjun's eyes widened and confused he raised an eyebrow: "What the hell are you doing here?"
Jake slightly smirked but immediately stopped and said: "I could ask the same thing but I already know. Murderer."
The two others raised their heads and gave Yeonjun a weird look.
The said person sighed out of frustration: "I didn't kill anyone, I'm being framed here!... I don't even know who I supposedly killed."
"Sucks to be you.", Jake smirked and chuckled.
"This isn't funny. Now, why are you here? And what happened to you?"
Yeonjun was terrified by the cuts Jake had in his face, "did someone in here do this to you?"
"Aw, concerned? Don't be, it was you.", he touched his hand and immediately the older one grabbed his arm, "what are you talking about??"
Jake pulled back with aggression and cleared his throat as he looked at the other two guys and back at Yeonjun: "Stop playing innocent! You stupid shit! That's what you deserved!"
The confusion in Yeonjun's face got bigger and bigger, not understanding what your weird ex had to say.
He tilted his head and just wanted to say something but Jake then continued talking: "I really hope the media and the people hate you now, you weren't the greatest anyways."
Yeonjun just took a breath: "Racer, you mean? Right, that's why I won almost every race I attended but sure, think whatever you want."
Jake stuck his tongue into his cheek and formed his hands into fists: "I mean, well, not the greatest boyfriend though either."
"How would you know? Ever kissed me?", Yeonjun was kind of proud of his answers since he was especially pissed off with him but couldn't afford to get angry with his accusations standing and it still was unsure how long he was going to stay in here, so he shouldn't risk anything.
The other two inmates chuckled quietly and Jake rolled his eyes: "Stop laughing, it's not funny. He's not funny! He's a murderer, nothing this guy does should be funny!"
One of them said: "I killed dozens of people, I can be funny too. Leave this rookie alone now before I'll show you my really funny side."
Yeonjun gulped and looked at him. Damn, he didn't know he was next to a serial killer... now the air didn't feel so good right now...
A guard got back and asked loudly what was going on and told Jake to get back to his work and leave them alone, so he did that but mouthed an 'I'm not done with you' to Yeonjun and then left.
As the guard left again, Yeonjun wanted to ask confidently "You killed a dozen of people?" but it came out like this: "Y-you uh killed... a uh dozen people?"
The older guy chuckled and nodded: "Yes, a dozen. At least that's what they think, it's actually been more than that but no one has to know, got it?"
Yeonjun nodded quickly: "Yes..."
"Aw man, stop being so shy, I'm not killing anyone in here. At least I haven't planned on doing so for now. Also, call me Dragon."
He just nodded.
The confidence he had completely left his body. This guy was also his cellmate, so knowing this just made him more nervous than he wanted to lead on.
"Well, so what's up with the being framed part? Did you not actually kill anyone?", Dragon asked.
Yeonjun nodded: "Unlike you... I uh, I admire your work... just couldn't be me..." He awkwardly laughed.
The older guy touched his shoulder and sighed: "It's okay, dude. You can be proud your brain doesn't work like mine."
"So uh... you've got uhm... a conscience...?", he quietly asked.
Dragon chuckled: "Oh, I do. It just doesn't work like yours. While yours tells you it's not okay to kill, mine can't tell the difference between right and wrong. So, generally I don't care, I just do what I do and well, eventually got caught."
The day went on and ever since this quite disturbing conversation he had with Dragon earlier and the fact that Jake was in here as well, Yeonjun was in a way even more in his thoughts but at the same time more attentive of what was going on around him. Like, generally he had no idea what kind of crimes all these guys committed or why Jake was here. He missed you. He worried about you. Hopefully you weren't having a hard time...
At dinner Jake sat to Yeonjun and sat opposite of him, leaving him raising an eyebrow: "Can't you just tell me what's going on? Why are you saying I did this to you? The last time we saw each other you were the one with a gun, not me"
"Can't you do the puzzle yourself?"
Confused he looked at the younger one who scoffed: "Wow, y/n really got herself a bright one."
Yeonjun rolled his eyes: "Can't you just say it?" He had enough of Jake's bullshit already.
"Hmm. Why would I?"
"Why else are you bothering me this much?"
"Well. Good point. Well, I just like annoying you knowing I was the reason for the accusations against you."
"Excuse me, what?? What did you-...", he interrupted himself as a thought of the interrogation interview crossed his mind, "they said something about a knife and slicing... you're not telling me you were the one doing this to you?? And who else? Heeseung??"
Jake chuckled: "Alright, maybe you're brighter than I thought."
"So it's true?? Are you out of your fucking mind??", Yeonjun couldn't believe what he just got to realise.
The Aussie nodded and literally admitted it.
Yeonjun's hands were forming to fists underneath the table: "So are you seriously telling me you murdered Heeseung and tried to kill yourself and made it look like I did the work for that?? Are you fucking kidding me??" He clenched his fists and jaw and got off his butt and looked at his sitting opponent. "Oh you're so fucking done!" He couldn't hold in his frustration and anger any longer, he just grabbed Jake's collar and punched him right into his face. "Son of a bitch!"
Immediately they had all the attention, inmates were already interested in their conversation but didn't care but now it was chaos. Everyone started growling or clapping. Jake fell off of his chair and glared at Yeonjun but then smirked at him.
A guard held down Yeonjun and put handcuffs around his wrists. "Seriously, you punk? Who even let these two get in touch?", the guard looked around and shouted, "the show is over, be quiet and eat. Nothing to watch."
Then Yeonjun got brought somewhere else in the building. Isolation cell. Fuck...
Ugh, why would he be so stupid and give in into Jake's shit? He really regretted it since he earlier thought he could keep it together but now... he fucked up.
Now his hand hurt though.
So did his pride.
He shouldn't had given into this.... But he did and now he had to take responsibility.
Maybe he was safe in there though and at least here he didn't have to see Jake for a while and also Dragon... a serial killer... supposedly Yeonjun was one too... all thanks to Jake...
What was he supposed to do now? No one would believe him if he said it was your ex and not him...
A sigh left his mouth.
Then another.
And then the tears took over.
He couldn't help but to be so overwhelmed by all of this.
He couldn't believe Jake was the one responsible for all of this. This really was too much. How could he do that? Ruining his image at the race was one thing and okay, exposing him for attending illegal street races? Fine... but this? This was another level of stupidity and revenge.
Hours and days went by, Yeonjun had no idea how much time really went by, it could had been forever.
He was so done with everything. He really hoped things could clear up at the trial which was hopefully soon... he couldn't stand being accused of murder any longer... especially now knowing who was actually responsible.
Ugh, he could kill Jake.
Well, he couldn't and wouldn't. Maybe these were the wrong words.
But he'd definitely punch his stupid face again.
Suddenly the door of the cell got unlocked and opened. A guard told him go get up which he immediately did and then he got told to leave the cell with him, so Yeonjun followed his orders and was not really sure what was happening since the guard didn't say he was now finally done with the isolation cell or if there was a certain check up or whatever it was...
Another guard nodded at him and he was just confused and nodded back and followed the other guard. He didn't dare to ask, he just followed quietly along the hallways and past all these electronic doors.
He realised this was quite the same way he walked as he was brought into the prison the first day.
Wait, what was happening?
Suddenly the guard stopped and asked for something at the reception and then he got a plastic bag and handed it to Yeonjun. "Get changed, you're free to go."
Yeonjun's eyes widened and his jaw felt like it dropped to the floor.
Did he hear that right??
"What?"
The guard repeated his sentence and patted his shoulder. "You can leave, the accusations have been dropped."
Still processing he walked into the changing room and quickly got changed.
He was really free to go?
What happened during his days of isolation?
As he came back out, the guard at the reception slightly smiled at him: "Wait until you get to hear everything in court. I saw you on tv, you're quite a good racer, aren't you?"
Yeonjun slightly smiled back too and handed in his clothes he had in here: "Oh, thank you... yeah, I hope so, I really love racing."
"Then what happened, man? Why the outburst?"
"Wasn't me though...", he slightly raised the corners of his lips and then just had to ask: "but uhm... I don't know if you're allowed to tell me this... but uhm... do you know where my girlfriend y/n y/l/n is at? I'm pretty sure they took her into a women's prison."
The guard looked at him and then at the computer next to him and typed something in: "Yes, sure, I can tell you that. Wait a second."
"Woah, really?... I just have to see her!", he sighed, "I have to know how she's doing..."
The guard nodded and then looked back at him: "She's in the Women's Prison of Portland."
"Portland? Okay, thank you! Have a good day.", he smiled now knowing where you were, so he could get to see you!
He finally left the prison.
Yeonjun took a deep breath once he was in front of the fence and no longer behind it. Finally free.
Well, as he looked around he had absolutely no idea where he was. He turned around and then read the name and the city. Bellingham. Okay, that was a good sign. This meant he was also in the US and could easily reach you within a day.
He had taken a look at the clock in the prison, it was just around 9am of a morning, he just didn't know what day it was.
But he couldn't help but to smile. His accusations being dropped and knowing where you were, were such great news!
Now he just had to get to you and tell you the great news!
