Living on the Edge (Revised)
Chy smiled as she began the first episode, with her dragon by her side. Here we go...
[The episode began as the camera shifted over Snow Cap's Peak over Dragon's Edge. The quarter full moon glowing overhead as the Night Terrors slept peacefully. Suddenly, a loud rumble startled the dragons awake. The view changes to Snotlout's hut, loud snoring coming from inside. Snotlout was sleeping deeply before another tremor vibrated throughout the Edge.]
"That doesn't sound good," Astrid said glancing at Hiccup who could only nod in agreement.
Snotlout growled at the ceiling. "Hey! I'm trying to get some sleep here! Stupid volcano..."
[Chicken squawked in fear rushing toward Ruff and Tuff as the camera moved over to the twins hut.]
Tuffnut cuddled his chicken close, comforting her. "Chicken! Easy little chicken. I'm so sick of these little baby ones. I wished it would just volcano up and start spewing already."
Ruffnut nodded in agreement raising her fists in the air. "Right! Either get on with it or keep it to yourself!"
[Now it showed Fishlegs and Meatlug clutched together under the bed, nervous.]
"Wow, really Fishlegs," Snotlout snarked.
Fishlegs crossed his arms. "What?! Oh, so you wouldn't be scared of an active volcano."
"I'm a warrior, Fishface." He said, "something you guys don't understand."
Hiccup sighed. "Alright, enough you guys..."
Fishlegs patted Meatlug, hoping to calm her down. "It's okay girl. The volcano hasn't erupted in three months and it's not going to start now. Right...?"
[Hiccup's door quickly opened with him not far behind. Astrid ran up to him glancing at him with a frantic gasp.]
Astrid eyes widened. "Hiccup! Was that..."
"More intense than normal no doubt!" Hiccup answered.
[ Another tremor rumbled with more power causing Hiccup to fall with yell. Craters soon bursted with lava scaring off the local dragons. The camera shifted over to Toothless who waited at the stables platform patiently with buckets of Gronkle Iron.]
Hiccup quickly mounted Toothless, turning his head over to the riders. "Alright, everyone got their Gronkle Iron? Good! Just like we practiced guys, and don't spill any. We can't afford to lose a drop."
[It now showed Hiccup flying over the Edge, overlooking the lava that now almost completely covered the Edge.]
Stoick's eyes widened. "Odin's ghost."
Hiccup sighed at the destruction of the lava. "Guy's this is worse than I thought!"
Snotlout grabbed his helmet is disbelief. "Yeah I know! Oh, my S! Hiccup, look at it, you know how attached I am to my S!"
Tuffnut laughed. "It's probably going to be the only attachment you have."
Snotlout rolled his eyes. "Oh really? How so?"
Ruffnut only smiled, as she entwined her hands together. "It's known throughout Berk and most likely the Archipelago that you're a woman repellant. All women agree."
"I am not!"
Ruff laughed. "Oh yeah, prove me wrong!"
Snotlout's mouth only gaped in silence as the twins high fives each other.
"We rest out case," Tuffnut finished leaning back in his chair.
Hiccup grew frustrated. "Snotlout! No one cares about your S! Just keep pouring Gronkle Iron into the cracks."
Tuffnut yelled in excitement. "Yes!"
Ruffnut not far behind him while they dodged the boulder. "Woah!"
Tuffnut raised a finger. "Wait for it..."
[A cooled boulder was shot out of one of the craters landing perfectly on Snotlout's head, making him shift off his dragon toward the lava below.]
The Twins cheered. "Yakseye!"
Tuffnut's eyes sparkled. "Charred grilled Snotlout, anyone?"
His sister smirked, imaging their teammate roasted alive. "He'll have a nice smokey finish from the lava."
Their thought process was interrupted when Hiccup flew over them. "Hey! Ruff! Tuff!"
Tuffnut sighed in disappointment. "Uh... Buzz kill."
[Ruff and Tuff quickly snatched Snotlout tossing him back on the Stables platform.]
"It was such a beautiful S." The stocky viking slurred.
[The riders flew and dodged geysers of lava, tossing Gronkle Iron into the cracks. The Twins grabbed a tub of Gronkle Iron hoisting it over the last few cracks.]
"Come on Barf, come on Belch!" Ruffnut encouraged.
Astrid sighed. "Well that was a disaster."
Gobber nodded, "It could've gone a lot worse, lass.
[The screen changed to the aftermath of volcano. The riders huddled around Snotlout surveying the damage.]
Astrid examined the charred walls near the clubhouse. "This is a disaster."
Tuffnut felt proud and a little jealous at the damage. "Yeah... But I've seen worse."
"You mean you caused worse." Fishlegs quickly finished.
The Twins scoffed. "We mortals can only do so much."
Hiccup felt grateful, but it disappeared when he reconnected the twins past... episodes. The Twins could do much worse, much much worse. He remembered the long hours cleaning up the academy after the Twins daily pranks. Him and Stoick glanced at each other with the same amount of remorse.
The male twin scoffed. "Ha! I wish! This is Odin's handiwork himself, my friend, but I, I am a mere mortal."
Snotlout raised himself off the ground, tilting his helmet back into place. He didn't look happy as he put his hands on his hip. "You happy now Hiccup!"
"Happy! What did I do?" Hiccup asked, eyes wide.
Snotlout crossed his arms. "Well obviously this is after we defeated Viggo, so we should've left like months ago, but no! Now we're putting out fires like a dragon raid!"
Toothless growled at the stocky viking.
Hiccup pointed at himself in exclamation. "Happy?! What did I do?!"
"We could've left this pile of rocks months ago, but no you wanted to keep exploring. Hiccup the explorer." Snotlout whined.
Astrid only smiled. "Hiccup, you know I'd rather plant dragon root under my fingers than agree with Snotlout."
"Don't waste your time, A. That stuff needs a ton of light to grow, so unless your willing to stand outside..." Tuffnut waved around gesturing to the open air.
Astrid ignored him. "I think it's might actually time to head back to Berk. Viggo and Ryker are gone. The Dragon Eye is destroyed, even mother nature is telling us to go."
"Huh?" Snotlout wondered.
Ruffnut popped up behind him. "Uh Mother Earth. The Earth Mother."
"The earliest roots actually date back to the Mesopotamian tablets which so the personification creating of a nurturing cycle side of nature a female deity. You should read more." Tuffnut explained scientifically.
Everyone glanced at the screen wide eyed. Gustav tilted his head in confusion. "Uhh, I didn't know the Twins could read..."
Snotlout snorted. "Only when necessary, only when necessary."
Astrid placed her hand on Hiccup's shoulder, her blue eyes soft. "Hiccup, we won, we can go home now."
[The camera switched back to Hiccup flying in thought over the volcano, missing another boulder from the crater. His dragon cooed at his rider.]
Hiccup rubbed the Night Fury's scales. "I know bud she's right."
Hiccup couldn't help the way his heart clenched at the thought of leaving the Edge. Deep down he knew there was more, even beyond the islands they have traveled through. Maybe even further.
[The gang was gathered around the Clubhouse, discussing their next decision.]
Tuffnut perked up. "Really! Awesome news, and just in time for our state sale."
Chy narrowed her eyes in thought glancing at Silverstreak. "Who knew Vikings had state sales..."
Hiccup raised an eyebrow. "I'm sorry... your what?!"
[Tuffnut shows Hiccup the crowd looking through items the Twins were selling by their hit with a smirk.]
"Not too late to get on the lifelike nut statue." He said.
Ruffnut smiled warmly at the customer hoping to lure him over a sale. "Yaked right now, I'll throw in free shipping... Ugh... Your breaking my boars here."
Tuffnut looked down upon his hit with pride. "Made from our actual hair."
Everyone winced in disgust, while the Twins just laughed.
Astrid withdrew from disgust. "Ugh!"
"Ew! Yourself missy. You wish you had locks like these." Tuffnut fired back.
Fishlegs scoffed. "Who would buy that?!"
Astrid nodded, shaking her head. "Only an idiot would buy that."
Hiccup carefully selected his words. "Uh, who in their right mind would ever buy a statue of you two."
"SOLD! Statue of us two!" Ruffnut's voice echoed.
Hiccup rolled his eyes gesturing his hands at the screen. "Well there's your idiot, Astrid." He muttered. Astrid only snorted turning her attention back onto the screen.
Hiccup slumped. "Of course..."
Snotlout jumped up, ready to get off the lava covered island. "Hi! Question! When are we getting out of here?"
"When the volcano is stabilized. We just need time to find new homes for all the dragons we relocated her." His leader replied serious.
[A horn blew loudly from the docks catching the gang's attention.]
Astrid looked down toward the dock. "That's weird. What's Johann doing here?"
Johann surveyed the damage his eyes wide making his way toward Snotlout and Fishlegs. "Oh dear, there hasn't been destruction like this since Emperor Nikaforest and the bizenteen were merciless annihilated in the battle of plisk. They say that Comcrome had Nikaforest skull encased in silver and drank mead from it... Ruthless." He paused, turning to Hiccup. "Anyway it's going to take some clean up. I have a multitude of items that could assist you in that process, hmm?"
"There's not going to be any clean up, Johann." Hiccup said sadly.
Johann handed him a small chest. "Well, Master Hiccup, perhaps this delivery will cheer you up. I think you'll like what you see. Although, what mysterious avocation could you be working on that necessitates such an odd variety of articles, hmm?"
"Articles, son?" Stoick asked. Hiccup began to scratch his neck slowly.
"Well, I've been thinking about many things lately, and I asked Johann for any available information he may have on it."
Gobber spoke up. "What type of information?"
"Uhh," Hiccup looked towards Chy. "Is it going to show later on?"
Chy nodded. "Yeah, but if want to tell them that's fine. Though personally I think you should wait."
Hiccup secretly agreed. "Yeah... I think I'll do that."
"Hiccup?" Asked Astrid.
He raised his hands up in surrender. "It's nothing dangerous just a little secret project I've been working on."
They left it at that, but Stoick and Astrid couldn't help but glance at him in both curiosity and concern.
Toothless laughed softly at the glances.
"Not helping, bud." Hiccup said.
Hiccup shook his head. There was no use for them now. "Doesn't really matter now, Johann."
Hiccup's eyes widened as Ruffnut yelled carry bags of gold. "Sold! Yeah!"
[Fishlegs and Hiccup stood by Hiccup's hut thinking while Toothless and Meatlug play.]
Hiccup: Alright, think, think, think. We need something that will not only hold up to the intense heat of the lava, but...
"But will withstand extreme buildup of volcanic pressure." His friend finished.
Hiccup nodded. "Exactly, Uh guys do you mind?"
Hiccup patted his dragon's head. "You really are a child aren't you?" Toothless growled softly, rolling his eyes before whacking his rider's head with his tailfin. "Ow!"
Hiccup couldn't help the small frustration in his voice. "There's got to be something." He heard a loud crash turning toward the source finding two guilty dragons. "Alright! Pick that up!"
Astrid elbowed Hiccup who yelped. "Look who's talking..."
"Astrid, please," he muttered with a small glowing smile.
[Toothless and Meatlug begrudgingly started picking the stuff they knocked over. Toothless throwing Hiccup's Amber spectacles onto Meatlug's face.]
The rider's chuckled at the two dragons.
"Wait! You might been on to something. Fishlegs, what happens if we mixed Deathsong Amber with Gronkle Iron?" The lean viking asked.
Fishlegs smiled his voice covered in excitement. "You mean the very same Deathsong Amber that withstood the pressure of water hundreds of feet below the surface of the ocean."
Hiccup's eyes lit up. "That's the one!"
Fishlegs glanced at the empty cauldron, thoughtful. "Mixing the exact quantities of all the ingredients will be key, so it won't set off a negative chemical reaction."
[Toothless and Meatlug stood by as Hiccup dropped the first batch of Amber into the Gronkle Iron. The experiment went wrong as the dragons panicked tackling their riders to safety. Hiccup tried again with Fishlegs wearing the spectacles for precaution. The same result happened, but instead shot a round of lava at the two vikings. Toothless quickly raised his wing to protect the two, with a smile. Hiccup and Fishlegs now wore extra protect as the gave it another try before rushing behind their dragons. With a rattle, the cauldron slowed to a stop with a positive reaction leaving the two vikings and dragons satisfied.]
Hiccup poured the Amber into one of the craters, the effect immediate as it hardened. He laughed. "I can't believe that actually worked!"
Fishlegs quickly raised his hands. "Let's not start slapping each other's yaks just yet. That was the last of the Deathsong Amber, and even if we had more theirs just no way Meatlug can make enough Gronkle Iron to stabilize the entire island."
"So we need Gronkles and Deathsong Amber. Well we know where to find both, right?" Hiccup said.
Snotlout panicked throwing his opinion to everyone. "There's no way I'm going to Melody Island. The word 'death' is in the dragon's name for a very good reason."
Hiccup rolled his eyes. "Astrid and I will get the Amber."
Snotlout shoulders slowly slumped in relief. "This is probably the best plan who've every came up with, Hiccup."
"I'm glad you like it, Snotlout," he replied back.
Chy giggled.
Snotlout raised a thumbs up. "Good, I like that plan.
"Fishlegs you stay behind and father the ingredients for Gronkle Iron. And find a place to store the liquid metal." Hiccup ordered.
"Oh, keep talking. This is the best plan ever." Snotlout said cocky.
Tuffnut gestured to himself and his sister. "What about us?What are we doing?W
"Rounding up a group of Gronkles from Dark Deep." Their leader replied with a glint in his eyes."
Snotlout couldn't maintain the humor in his tone. "No, you idiots! Why did you open big...
Hiccup interrupted him. "And Snotlout your going with them, congratulations."
The stocky viking crossed his arms. "This is the worst plan I ever heard."
Stoick couldn't help the pride and amusement that spread in his chest watching his son handle his team. His son was getting better at maintaining order, and looking at Gobber he knew the Blacksmith was thinking the same.
[The scene changed over to Melody Island, the tall caverns and canyons covered in spotted moss, as Toothless and Stormfly walked forward showing Hiccup and Astrid looking every direction.]
Hiccup looked left and right. "This is strange."
Astrid nodded. "And I don't hear anything..."
Heather spoke up voice the question everyone is wondering. "Where's the Deathsong?"
No one answered, just as clueless as her.
"No Deathsong," Hiccup said.
[Soon a loud road sheared from the side, both vikings facing the Deathsong that came out of hiding.]
Astrid and Hiccup withdrew their weapons without a second thought. "You were saying!"
[The Deathsong gave one final roar before collapsing in front of them, the wounds suddenly visible and clear.]
"What happened to him?" Heather asked
Hiccup looked closer. "Dragon Hunters?" He wondered aloud. "It could possibly be stray hunters, but this is worse than Viggo's order has ever done."
Hiccup sheathed his sword, slowly walking up to the injured dragon letting his hand softly touched the scaly snout. The Dragon purred weakly leaning into his touch. "These wounds are fresh."
"Dragon Hunters?"
Hiccup shook his head. "Not like any we've encountered, this is beyond brutal."
The Deathsong gave off a small weak sounds.
Astrid and Heather's eyes widened. "That's Garf..."
Hiccup perked up. "That sounds like... no way, Garf?"
Astrid walked up to the injured dragon. "Oh my Thor your right it is. Oh... you poor thing. What have they done to you? Wait a minute, where's the other Deathsong?"
Hiccup looked around the cavern. "Hmm, must not have been as lucky as this guy."
"Lucky?" Astrid questioned.
"Man that little guy is tough," Snotlout said. Even the dragon's lowered their heads solemnly.
"Garf got away, he's still alive." Hiccup said sadly.
"Yeah barely."
Garf whimpered in pain and Hiccup quickly shushed him. "Hey, it's okay, it's okay."
"Hiccup, if Viggo's gone then..."
"Who's leading these hunters, and what so important that they'll go toe to toe with a Deathsong."
Hiccup hummed. "That's a good question." The thought of another threat made his head spin. Granted, the Grimborn rule is over, but seeing Garf in such a state made him clutch his fists.
Fishlegs raised a finger. "Umm, guys if some else is leading them, that means dragons are more endangered than ever."
"Fishlegs right. These Hunters are ruthless. Garf is proof of that." Heather spoke up, her hand on her dragons neck.
Snotlout raised an eyebrow. "How is that any different than any other dragon hunter we've fought, and won might I add."
"Because Snotlout, these Hunters not only left a dragon injured but left him to die even an exotic species like a Deathsong. We know it isn't one of Viggo's men, because with them they keep the dragon's physical appeal in perfect condition." Hiccup answered. "Whoever this is, doesn't care about quality like usual, no this is something else."
Chy nodded, "Your right. I've seen your future, and I know what kind of threat he is, but like everyone even the best have flaws. You'll figure it out guys, I promise... Let's go ahead and continue."
[A siren song echoed catching two nadder. The dragons flew over a clearing before being shot down with the familiar orange substance. The dragons landed hard, one of the Nadder rolled over toward a person's foot. The camera showed Krogan standing firm with a shackled Deathsong shooting rows of Amber against his will.]
Hiccup's eyes widened as Stoick's temper rose. "I know that guy."
Stoick growled. "He's the one that captured you."
"Not to mention saved you from getting stabbed from Ryker," Ruffnut added calmly.
Astrid slowly grabbed Hiccup's hand, lacing her fingers with his. "Now we know who the real threat is, Hiccup. Now we can figure out a plan to stop him, and put a stop to this war."
Hiccup nodded numbingly tightening his fingers around Astrid's.
Two hunter loaded the purple Nadder begrudgingly. One of them whispering his protest. "This is no way to hunt dragons."
Krogan turned toward them with a smug smile.
Hiccup clenched his jaw tight.
"Not what you use to? Is that it? Well please do accept my most sincere apologies." The Hunter nodded crumbly. "Now, if you would be so kind as to tell me... why the objection?"
The Hunter tapped his fingers together, his body language cautious. "Uhh, that's the sport out of it. Seems like cheating is all."
Gustav rubbed Fanghook's snout. "So all we've been through was a sport to them?" The older riders nodded each with a frown. Gustav gulped. "That's nice to know right?"
Fanghook growled uncertain.
Krogan laid a fist on his chest. "Cheating...? Cheating...? And your right, your right." He raised his axe. "Ahh, look at us. We crooked band of double dealers. Well, I suppose if you rather do the things your way. Good luck to you, hmm. And perhaps we will meet again."
"Something isn't right," Astrid whispered to Hiccup. All he could do was nod keeping his attention solely on the screen in front of him.
The Hunter looked back and forth. "I can leave? Just like that...?"
"Just like that. Safe travels my friend." Krogan's smile disappeared as the Hunter ran off waving goodbye. A standby Hunter gasped as Hunter killed the other."
Fishlegs gasped as did the others. "Did he just..."
"He certainly did," Gobber said eyes wide. "Without a second thought."
Krogan spoke to the rest of the Hunters. "Anyone else feel like discussing our methods of trapping... The floors open. "
[The camera transfers over to Dark Deep as two Catastrophic Quakens watched contentedly over there Gronkles eating. The Twins and Snotlout hidden above them in a ledge.]
Tuffnut leaned toward his sister pushing Snotlout aside with a glare in his eyes. "I can't believe you sold Johann all of our stuff."
His sister scoffed. "Wasn't that the point? What do you want from me?!"
Snotlout slammed the twins down out of view already done with everything. "Will you two pipe down!"
[The makeshift team watched as the Quakens smashed a large rock formations to pieces adding to the stock of food now given to the small Gronkles.]
"You know what they call that?" Ruffnut said with excitement.
Snotlout quickly replied. "Imminent death."
Chy smirked.
"Symbiotic relationship," Tuffnut countered.
Ruffnut smiled. "Precisely."
"Symbi.. what?" The third wheel asked.
Tuffnut quickly explained. "Symbiosis is the interaction between two different organisms living in close physically association typically to the advantage of both," he finished clapping his hands together making a fart noise.
"However, this could often lead to Parasitism." Ruffnut piped up.
"Para.. what?"
"I just feel like you only there for the ride Snotlout," Chy said flicking her braid behind her shoulders.
"Oh so you understand all that?!" Snotlout raised his arms.
She only shrugged. "Mostly, where I am from they teach us about this stuff... it's an elective."
Hiccup tilted his head. "Elective?"
Chy nodded. "Our country or in your words territory enforces that every child must be educated through school, though to make it less like nuisance they give interesting topic or classes to learn from. I actually enjoy it on occasions."
"So electives are choices of interest," Hiccup said.
"Yep," she said making the 'p' pop at the end. "The things you guys do now have revolutionized over my world. The downside from all this is that we don't have Dragons flying above like no big deal."
Astrid glanced at Stormfly rubbing her fingers over the dragon's scales. "What happened to them?"
Chy shrugged looking at her own dragon. "We don't know actually. I've heard stories of them hiding under volcanoes or under deep rifts in the oceans, but those are just stories parents tell their kids at night."
Snotlout pointed at Silverstreak. "If dragons don't exist in your time, why do you have him?"
Chy's eyes dimmed. "Here he's real, because he's from your reality, but at home he's only a figment of my imagination."
Heather hummed sadly. "Must be hard."
"Not really, he's here isn't he." The Razorwhip let out a small roar in agreement. "Let's get back to it, we've gotten horribly sidetrack."
"Parasitism, it's a non-mutual symbiotic relationship between species where one species the parasite benefits expense of the other host." Tuffnut explained picturing Snotlout and Hookfang. "Take you and Hookfang. If the two of you are together flying in perfect harmony, that's symbiotic."
Ruffnut quickly changed the topic. "However, when Hooky benefits at your expense, I mean you getting nothing, Parasitic."
Snotlout growled at his dragon. "Hookfang!" The dragon only huffed a puff of smoke behind his rider's head.
Snotlout looked over to his dragon with a glare. "Hookfang."
The Dragon smiled.
"Tell you what why don't two symbiosis yourselves over their and get those Gronkles or I'll parasite the yakdug out of you!" Snotlout said harshly.
Tuffnut put his hands on his hips. "Ha! My dear fellow although you are tempting the jaron form of those nouns..."
Snotlout snapped. "WOULD YOU JUST DO IT!"
Ruffnut sighed bored. "Mind is a terrible thing to waste.
"Even if vacuous, empty, desolate..." Tuffnut said flying over the group of dragons. The Quakens spotted them growling. "Uh oh..."
[ The episode transitions over to Krogan and a hunter looking at the trapped dragons.]
The man sneered at every dragon, analyzing them with a critical eye. "No... no... this is not it."
"Well sir, perhaps if you told us what it is your looking for and why you need them..."
Krogan looked over his shoulder. "I'll know it when I see it, and my use of them is not your concern... yet."
A citrus green Singetail trapped in Amber caught Krogan's eye. "Singetail."
The Dragon has enough tending his trapped muscles breaking out the cocoon, the hard substance breaking like glass. "That's the spirit..."
Hiccup couldn't help noticing the relaxed posture the man had almost like he knew the dragon's motive. Almost like he was... trained? Hiccup knew exactly what Singetails are capable of, and using them for any immoral gain made him feel a pang of anger the made him tense. The man contained a level of confidence that Hiccup has been trying to earn for the past three years, just without the uncomfortable edge that sends dragons into senseless rage. Toothless cooed softly, his electric green eyes landing on his rider. He nudged him letting his rider now he was there. Without a thought Hiccup brushed his hand over the his black scales under Toothless's chin.
Thanks bud.
Krogan waited patiently as the dragon attacked. With a swift pivot, he moved out of the way pinching the dragon's vulnerable soft spot. The hunters watched in amazement as the dragon fell limp.
Snotlout grabbed his helmet in shock. "H-how did he do that?!"
Fishlegs lips made a firm line. "Most species of dragons, at least that we know of have sensitive points within the nerves. Just the slightest bit of pressure can immobile them senseless."
Hiccup nodded. "He's right, Toothless has one by his ear flap, upper neck. If this guy is experienced as I think, we have a bigger problem than I assumed just a few minutes ago."
"Where do you think he got his training from?" Astrid asked carefully.
Stoick eyed the man on the screen. "I don't know, but this is years worth, probably decades."
Hiccup turned toward his dad. "Who has that amount of knowledge?"
Gobber sighed. "Lad, knowledge can come from good or bad, it has no timetable, and I think we got our answer."
"So the question is who trained him?" Heather asked aloud.
"Maybe you'll see," Was all Chy said.
Krogan rubbed the Singetail's scales. "Being me more of these as many as you can find."
[The scene changed with the twins whooping and hollering in excitement in the evening sky, with Snotlout and Hookfang trailing behind them. The Quakens immediately grew defensive as one of them rolled into a ball slamming itself into the rock below creating a compulsive blast throwing the small gang back.]
Snotlout grabbed Hookfang's horns stabilizing himself. "I thought you said it was symbiotic!"
"It is! For them, you dingaling!" Ruffnut yelled back.
Snotlout softened. "Hey, name calling is not going to help the situation, Ruffnut."
Ruffnut fired back. "Its helping me plenty!"
[The Quakens rolled back into the ball, the blast sending Snotlout and the Twins back to where they started.]
The trio dusted themselves off. Tuffnut slipping his helmet back in with a thoughtful expression. "Remember when the Hunters subjugated the Quakens in the corey? They used vibrations to control them."
Ruffnut made a hammer motion. "They had these hammers they slammed on the ground?"
Snotlout grinned grabbing his axe from his back.
Hiccup sighed. "Well this should be good."
Astrid whacked him. "Shhh, don't ruin this for me."
"You make contact, keep them occupied and the two of us," Ruffnut said pointing to get brother and herself. "will lead these Gronkles to victory!"
"Snotlout!" The viking chanted before taking off.
The Twins watched amused. "I don't think this is going to be mutually beneficial."
Tuffnut smiled. "It will be for us."
They both high fived. "Parasites!"
Snotlout walked into the Quakens view grinning. "Alright Quakens, let's make this relationship shine!"
Snotlout slammed his axe hard, the vibrations traveling to the Quakens feet. Instantly, the calm dragons grew tense and defensive quickly taking to the air heading straight for Snotlout. "Uh, guys a little help here!"
He turned around seeing the Twins gone, Hookfang glancing at him clueless. Snotlout screamed running to his dragon.
Tuffnut held a armful of rocks feeding the Gronkles. "Let's get this Gronkles out of here while we still can!"
The Gronkles followed them as Ruffnut sighed Snotlout. "What about Snotlout?!"
Her brother sighed. "Relationships are complicated, he'll work through them."
They grinned at their friends misfortune.
[Melody Island appeared as Toothless grabbed some Amber laying around tossing them into the bucket strapped on him. Hiccup walked over to his friend tossing his batch into the bucket as well.]
Astrid threw the shackles off Garf patting him gently. "I know Garf, it's okay." Hiccup and Toothless looked down in sorrow as Astrid walked in front of Garf. The dragon wheezed in pain. "Hiccup, I don't think he's going to make it."
Hiccup walked past Astrid kneeling next Garf's wounds. Astrid stood tall. "Go, I'll stay here with Garf." she walked next to Hiccup. "We can't lose the Edge, Hiccup. And we have to stop the Hunters before they could do this to any other dragon, you know I'm right. I'll you meet you back, I promise. I'll stay here with Garf until..." She couldn't finish, letting her words trail off.
Toothless rubbed his snout against Garf's letting out a sad roar. Stormfly giving her own roar for their fallen friend.
Hiccup hugged his dragon's head. "I'm sorry you had to see this bud." The Dragon purred sadly as did the other dragons.
Heather growled. "We can't let this continue! We have to find and destroy this new Empire before it has a chance to recollect itself."
Chy gestured to the screen. "Uhh, did you forget where you are? You can't exactly do that from here. Right now you're here to watch your future, no more, no less. You will see every decision made and the consequences that come after. The best thing I can say and consult is to wait and see."
Astrid put a hand on her friends shoulder, smiling softly that didn't reach her eyes. "I'll be fine, I got her."
Hiccup nodded, giving her a small kiss on her forehead.
Hiccup and Astrid blushed as the others gave them enchanted looks, but Snotlout who couldn't keep himself from turning his head in disgust. "Eww!"
Chy fist pumped the air. "Two things I love above all else Hiccstrid and Tom Holland."
Snotlout sat up straighter in his seat. "Who's that?"
"Uhh, just a person." Chy blushed.
Astrid smiled. "Your boyfriend?"
Chy just scoffed. "Not old enough. Plus I don't think he's my type as heartbreaking as that is. Now let's continue before I start drowning in my grief."
Hiccup rubbed Garf's one last time before mounting Toothless and taking off.
Garf whimpered pitifully his wounds deep and painful. Astrid grabbed her water canteen pouring some cool water down the dragon's throat. "There you go, that's a good boy." Stormfly walked to her rider's side her wings tense against her side, guarding them. "I'm here Garf, I'm here."
[The scene faded and quickly replaced the scene with Fishlegs waving down the Gronkles to land near the boar pit.]
Fishlegs grabbed a bucket filled with rocks. "Here you go. Two part sandstone, three part limestone, one part iron ore." He repeated the recipe feeding the boulder class dragons accordingly. He looked over an gasped. "Ah, no, no, no, this is a very specific recipe." Slapping a rock out of Tuffnut's hands. "It's three part limestone!"
Tuffnut huffed. "Harsh, Fish."
"I thought it was three part sandstone?" Tuffnut asked.
Fishlegs quickly shot his reply down. "No!"
Ruffnut glanced up uninterested, lifting her own rock. "So what do we do with the boxite?"
Fishlegs eyes widened in shock. "Boxite! BOXITE! There's no visits in Gronkle Iron." Ruffnut merely tossed her to the side embittered by the husky viking.
Tuffnut shrugged glancing at the pit the Gronkles shot lava into. "Hang on a minute, I know this pit... is that our BOAT PIT?!"
"Fishlegs how could you!" Tuffnut gasped. "this is a disgraceful decision." His sister agreeing wholeheartedly.
The blond viking only blushed sheepishly embarrassed. "What?!"
"FISHLEGS!" Ruff yelled.
"Very parasitic of you, Fishlegs." The male twin remarked, his disappointment visible in every word.
"What?! Look I didn't have a choice!" Fishlegs said before rushing back to the Gronkles.
The Twins walked closely behind him. "We all have choices, which is obvious which one you made." At once the both took off their helmet placing them over their chest.
"Oh for the love of Thor," Astrid mumbled. Stormfly squawked quietly behind her as if agreeing.
Tuffnut spoke first. "Boat pit, oh boat out we shall miss the you put the symbote in our osis and gave us such glee."
Gobber nudged Hiccup's shoulder pointing at the screen in disbelief. The Dragon rider sighed. "You have no idea, Gobber."
Ruffnut continued in brother's place. "Never fear Mr. Boar as a new pit of iron shall rise." Fishlegs glanced over with a unimpressed glare. "Like before and we should grease you and wrestle you into symbiotic heaven even if our names were just Surely and Kevin." She ended the eulogy with a son and cried into her twin brothers braid while he stood back disgusted. Another tremor rumbled causing the twins to tell in exclaim.
Fishlegs rushed up to them impatiently. "Are you two finished?"
Tuffnut shook his head. "Three more verses, but you're gonna love the forth." One of the craters exploded. "Yeah I never really like that one either."
Hiccup landed next to the pit buckets full with Amber.
Fishlegs rushed over to the Night Fury. "Where's Astrid?"
"Melody Island, I'll explain later." Hiccup responded. "Where's Snotlout?!"
The Twins who are helping stir the Gronkles lava looked up. "Dark deep," Tuffnut explained.
"We'll explain later," Ruffnut added.
At once, multiple craters exploded with geysers of lava earning the rider's attention. "Fishlegs we have to fill those cracks!"
Fishlegs mounted Meatlug blasting lava into Hiccup's buckets. "We're right behind you! Alright guys we got to take this show on the road. We might have to make it on the fly." Fishlegs ordered pointing to the diving bell. Both of the twins lit up.
Barf and Belch grabbed the log connected to the diving be'll dipping it into the lava. The riders took off as Hiccup got ready. "That's it take us in bud." Toothless flew over the the trees looking at the volcano that had lava flowing all over the island. The Night Fury flipped over one of the crater spilling the Gronkle Iron into the crack. With a hiss the lava hardened sealing the crater shut. Hiccup pulled hard on his saddle with a tell barely missing a spewing crater. The Twins tipped the bell over the crater that almost took down their leader closing it up.
Fishlegs and the Gronkles from Dark Deep flew overhead. "Ohh, here's the limestone! Ohh, and here comes some sandstone!" He happily fed more rocks the the dragons.
Fishlegs rubbed Meatlug's about eagerly. "Who loves sandstone, you do!"
Toothless merely rolled his eyes.
The Gronkles refilled the diving bell. "Incoming!" Ruff yelled pouring more Gronkle lava into a bigger crater. Hiccup quickly tended to the other craters hanging back looking at their work.
Fishlegs grabbed Hiccup in a bonecrushing hug squeezing the air out of the lean vikings lungs. "It's working Hiccup!"
"I can see that, Fishlegs." Hiccup croaked breathlessly.
"Sorry, I'm sorry, just really excited," he replied with a smiled. Their smiles dropped as the focus on the last crater by the top of the volcano.
"We have to get to the volcano now!" Hiccup ordered.
That last crater was large and overwhelming as Hiccup and Fishlegs hovered carefully by it. "It too intense!"
Tuffnut huffed elbowing his sister. "Please, what we did last year on Loki day was more intense than this."
Ruffnut chuckled with an pleasant edge. "That my friend definitely made the Loki Wall of Fame."
"I mean we love a good smoldering magma blast as much as the next viking," Tuffnut added.
"True that, tell them Surely!" The female twin continued.
Tuffnut looked at his sister bored. "Can I be Kevin next time please?"
Hiccup determine gazed fell upon the others. "Alright everyone let's do this!"
Fishlegs smirked grabbing more rocks tossing them into the Gronkles mouth. The Twins lowered the diving bell to let the dragon's blast into the metal container. Hiccup went first throwing the rest of his Gronkle Iron into the crater with Ruff and Tuff right behind them.
The Gronkles landed Fishlegs whooping in joy. The volcano shook violently sending boulders tumbling on top of the Gronkles the impact tossing Fishlegs and Meatlug away from the site. "The Gronkles! Oh no!"
Fishlegs gasped hugging his dragon. Meatlug whined. "It's okay I'm sure they're okay, right?"
Hiccup and Toothless helped Fishlegs grabbed rocks as another tremor rumbled.
Tuffnut spoke up hesitantly. "Uh guys."
Hiccup looked up spotting lava pouring over Snow Cap's edge. "Oh no."
Snotlout's high pitched scream turned Hiccup's head at the Monstrous Nightmare fleeing terror with three Quakens tailing him.
Ruff pointed at Snotlout. "See feminine at it's best."
Snotlout only yelled in frustration.
"Somebody help me! I can't get these parasites off of my front!" Snotlout screamed flying behind the pile of rocks hiding. The Quakens hovered over the pile as Toothless spread his wings protective over the Gronkles buried. The dragons heard the Gronkles below and glanced at the lava endangering them. With a roar, they took off flying behind Peak curling themselves into a ball and throwing themselves into the volcano one by one creating a hole.
Fishlegs and Hiccup quickly caught on. "They're releasing the volcanic pressure."
Lava streamed out of the hole gardening the left over magma threatening the Gronkles. Fishlegs eyes lit up. "Of course! They're releasing the volcanic pressure."
Snotlout and Hookfang popped out from behind their hiding spot. "Ha! I knew they were going to do that. It works out like that, symbiotic type." A roar made them duck back into safety. Hiccup and Fishlegs moved out of the way letting the Quakens remove the boulders with baited breath.
A few more rocks removed revealed the Gronkles uninjured. Hiccup shouted in glee. He watched the dragon's from Dark Deep fly away with a relieved smile.
Hiccup visibly slumped in relief. "That was a close one."
Astrid smiled softly. "See it's works out perfectly."
Night turned to sunrise as Chicken pecked at the ground with Garf right behind her frightening the animal.
Heather brightened with a smile. "He made it! Thank thor!"
The rest of the Riders shared her joy easily.
"I can't believe Garf made it, he was not looking good." Hiccup examined.
"I think he's going to be alright," Astrid smiled. "That dragon has a lot of fight in him."
Hiccup placed a firm hand on her shoulder with a smile. "He's not the only one."
Chy squealed. "HICCSTRID! I love it!" Silverstreak rolled his eyes. He could honestly live without it.
Stoick grinned. "So when can I expect Grandchildren?"
Hiccup choked as Astrid blushed furiously. "DAD!"
Astrid smiled but grew serious. "Hiccup we can't let what happened to Garf to happen to any other dragon."
"Your right and we're not going to," he replied. Listen gang, the Dragon Hunters are still out there. I know you all want to go home but.."
"Umm, who said I wanted to go home, I don't want to go home," Fishlegs continued.
"Not me I Surely don't want to go." Ruffnut added.
"And I Kevinly would never give up the chance to live at a place that blows up all the time." Tuffnut explained.
They all looked at Snotlout who looked upset. With a groan, he resigned. "Fine, I'll stay," he said walking up to Hiccup. "But keep me away from those two! They put me in front of the Quakens and Thank Thor I'm not typed on."
Tuffnut spoke up pleased with himself. "And symbiosis is alive and well on Dragon's Edge."
"You think Johann will let us but any of our stuff back?" Ruff asked.
Her brother shook his head. "Nah, he's a bit of a parasite, no?"
"He Surely is."
[The camera glanced at an unknown island with the moon overhead. It showed a dragon proof corral with a Singetail inside. Flames seeped out of the gaps in between the metal showing Krogan grinning. He hopped into the edge as frightened Hunter pulled the lever releasing the dragon as Krogan mounts it forcefully.]
A Hunter watching from above observed Krogan with a expressionless facade. "Any idea who takes over when this thing kills him?"
The other Hunter shrugged. "I suppose it would be a vote that seems like the most logical thing."
The Songs tail bucked and growled doing everything it can to get rid of the man who was laughing. The Dragon sent a stream of flame that had the Hunters above to take a step back. With a growl he rushed toward the camera in flames cutting the episode off.
"He forcing Singetails to take a rider?" Gustav asked nervously.
"Not yet," Hiccup growled.
Chy rubbed her hands together. "Okay who's up for the next episode, Sandbusted?"
