Raccoon Twenty-Eight

Two days.

Two full days he's had with his daughter after King's amazing mother managed to file for temporary custody due to intentional abandonment.

They had refused to give the girl back to her mother that evening, and evidently thinking that she could get in better graces with him, his wife decided to tell them to just keep Tili until Sunday.

Unfortunately for her, her plan had backfired. Anne had already been drawing up the paperwork to submit for full custody, and to his utter shock, King had already written him a contract to rent with him for the custody request, too, though it was really just for show.

And show it they did. Along with the previous time where she just sent Tili across states with her friend abruptly... of whom she forgot he still had the phone number for.

Thankfully, when they went to the courthouse the day before their expected meeting with his wife, Tili was absolutely amazing and spoke honestly and firmly, answering any questions that she was asked.

Now, as he sat across the table from his wife at Anne's practice, Baron couldn't think of a single thing she still held over him.

Sure, she was clearly going to fight to keep their daughter, but now he had a leg up on her scheming.

His wife wasn't even talking to him yet, still very busy reading through the twenty or so papers he'd given her. She'd originally been about to shrug them off and toss them to the floor so that she could just try to convince him verbally, but when she noticed the bold print at the top of the first page, her brow had furrowed and she immediately began reading.

The further she got, the more color drained from her makeup-coated face. While she'd been playing around and seemingly so sure that she would be able to take him for a ride, he'd been planning to make things right.

By the time she was finally done reading through the papers he could tell that her thoughts on the situation have greatly shifted.

"You know that you won't get full custody if we take this to court," she warned right away, making Baron simply smile calmly and shrug off her words.

"You've given me plenty of evidence to claim that you're an unfit mother, and considering the amount of money you attempted to steal from me, we could be easily looking at other charges."

His wife narrowed her eyes on him.

"You would need Tili to lie to make your case even close to plausible," she sneered.

Baron stayed calm and confident.

"I would need Tili to tell the truth, if I wanted my case to be plausible. Thankfully, she's a very smart girl and doesn't like lying at all."

He paused for a moment, then leaned forward and crossed his arms on the table.

"She also really dislikes ballet."

That sentence probably made her the most angry.

"She's a little girl! Of course she likes ballet, and dressing up, and doing her hair and makeup!" she screamed, making Baron give a quiet chuckle.

"You know what she actually likes? Water parks, playing with my raccoon, and cuddling with my boyfriend for a nap," Baron answered resolutely, much to his wife's horror.

"Boyfriend?!" she screeched, suddenly not caring at all about what her daughter did or didn't like.

Baron shrugged one shoulder, his smile sincere.

"Yes, boyfriend. He's an amazing young man and I'm extremely proud to call him mine. Tili loves him, too, and he treats her like the princess she is."

His wife couldn't seem to make her mouth work, as expression after expression crossed her face... each more hideous than the last.

How did I ever fall for such a woman?

"Y-you can't be serious! Exposing our little girl to such a vile person? He's going to turn her gay and slutty!" his wife finally managed to yell, nearly making him burst into actual laughter.

If he's made anyone slutty, it might just be me.

He'd been groping King a lot more than he thought he ever would recently.

I really am falling hard for him.

Heck, he'd even probably roll over for the guy after his divorce was final if he wanted him in such a way, though he doubted King was interested in topping. The man had became quite entranced by his fingers whenever they got some time to themselves.

The thought nearly made him blush but he managed to shake it from his mind before he could embarrass himself or give the wrong idea.

"So then, let's talk about what you're really here for, because I know it's not Tili," he said, getting to the point now that he had the image of King's naked body behind his eyes.

He wanted to love on his man, not listen to his soon-to-be ex preach about falsehoods.

"Sign custody of her over to me and you can keep the car," he said simply.

She had been vicious with him to the point of him wanting to kill himself. He wasn't going to make this situation easy for her.

"The... the car?! You want me to give up my house and my daughter and you're going to leave me with just my car?!" she screamed, her terror honestly music to his ears.

He had zero remorse for her.

"Technically, it's my car, but the house isn't mine anymore. I signed it over to my sweetheart months ago with the help of his mum, and he already has ownership of my current money account, too, since he created it and I had no interest in putting it in my name yet," Baron said with an impish grin.

"Technically, I have nothing to my name right now besides that wonderful new car I purchased."

His wife sneered at him as her nails dug into the metal table, making an unpleasant screeching sound.

"If you don't have anything in your name, then how the hell do you think you're going to win custody of my baby?!"

Baron still seemed unruffled.

"I've already spoken to the judge I'm going to use for our case, should you try to bring it to court. I informed them that I'm currently renting from a very nice young man and provided proof that I have started a steady job," he said, making her sneer falter.

"The only thing you could even try to win in a divorce right now is that car, so if you want to fight me on it, go ahead. Or, you could simply give me custody of my daughter and take the car in return. Either way, my love likely plans to sell the house soon, as we have no plans on moving to that area," Baron said calmly, completely in control of the situation for once.

His wife simply stared at him, open-mouthed, as she realized one of her biggest mistakes.

She hadn't gotten a lawyer before speaking with him in person. They would have caught the prenup right away and likely tried to have it absolved.

"If you want to try and take this to court, then we can fight over Tili and my new car, though I don't think you'll win considering you don't actually own my love's house."

Fuck he's being so hot right now, King thought from behind the one-way glass Baron knew was behind him.

He felt his heart skip a beet as he caught the thought.

Since they really were planning to move into King's new home together as a family, they did have to sit down and talk about some things before this meeting. Thankfully, King didn't really have many things to speak of, but Baron did end up having to bring up one thing.

He'd prayed that it wouldn't be a deal-breaker and had honestly been stressing about it for a long time, but when he'd told King that if they ended up considering marriage, he'd need at least a few years before he'd feel comfortable walking down that path again.

Much to his heart's relief, however, King had immediately said that he wasn't interested in marriage and just considered it a piece of paper that brought about unnecessary stress.

He was more than happy being his boyfriend or, if they wished to call each other husbands, he'd also gladly accept the title.

The woman across from him seemed unable to speak further as he returned back to what he should be focusing on, making him wait a little longer, then slowly scoot back his chair and stand up.

He was just about to exit the room when he heard her slam her hands down on the table, drawing his attention over his shoulder as he raised an eyebrow.

"You think you can just take all of my money, then threaten to take my house and my car?!" she snarled at him as Baron slowly turned back around to face her.

"You agreed to separate accounts, and even signed documentation with a lawyer because, at the time, you had a decent amount of money and a nice car."

Until she'd wrecked it while drinking and driving with Tili in the back seat.

"We also decided on one large joint account for bills and such. So we each had our own main account, and fed money into the joint one. Just because you decided to stop working on your own, and drained your main account, forcing me to pick up two extra jobs to pay our bills and necessities, does not entitle you to what is mine now that you want out of our situation."

He paused, waiting for her to respond, but she seemed to have nothing more to say.

"So then, if you would like to keep that new car I bought recently, you can sign those documents in front of you and give me full custody of our daughter, as well as agree to vacate my house within thirty days. The divorce papers are also in that packet. If you'd like to fight for more than the car... I'll see you in court, with a copy of the prenup you made me sign before we got married."

He turned back around and walked over to the door, then grabbed the handle and opened it before sparing her one final glance.

"Have a good rest of your day, ma'am. If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to my lawyer before you leave."

The moment he stepped out he walked to the little waiting room Tili and King had been using. His love had already returned to it, having likely only stepped out for a moment to see how things were progressing.

Tili met him at the door with Otterbahn snuggly held in one arm. She was rubbing at one of her eyes, clearly trying to nudge the sleep away.

He'd felt bad for having to wake her up so early for this, but it had been unavoidable.

When she reached up to him with her free hand, he gladly lifted her, stuffed otter and all, into his arms.

"Hi baby, daddy's all done talking to mommy. Want to go get something yummy for breakfast now?" he asked as King walked over and gave him a gentle side hug, then reached up to pat Tili's messy hair.

They had just had to throw together some snacks and fruit since the discussion time had needed to be changed to an earlier one due to some things that had come up for Anne. Thankfully his wife had wisely made it to the earlier time, and they'd managed to crawl themselves out of bed and make it, too.

She nodded sleepily as she reached to the side, silently asking for King to hold her... even though he probably had been for most of the day already.

His boyfriend gladly took his daughter and situated her on his hip with a sleepy smile of his own for Baron.

"Breakfast sounds good... and a milkshake."

This guy... is fucking adorable.

King wasn't super big on sweets at home, but there was one brunch place that made some rather impressive milkshakes that he had become quite addicted to recently.

"Alright, breakfast and milkshakes at Kay's, it is," he said, as he leaned over and pressed a kiss to his daughter's forehead, then his boyfriend's.

Twenty-five minutes later they found themselves sitting at the restaurant, enjoying their spread of food with a vanilla bean and pistachio milkshake-covered kitten... and Otterbahn.
