Now a small refresher, there are two types of defects within the outbreak parasite. Physical and mental. We already know what physical defects are or how they are affected/altered by the outbreak. Some have strange diets, others have physical mutations that make them different from their species (eg. Cerax and Heatseeker).

Now we are going to talk about the mental defect. This can only affect those with the outbreak parasite if they're twins.

Why?

Well it's because a pair of twins are actually sharing their outbreak. Mind link, heart, and outbreak strand. Because of this, they function a bit different from a normal pair of twins or from the rest of the hive. Now due to the parasite being split in half, it is unstable and therefore makes the twins unstable.  Though that is if the twins are close to each other for a long periods of time

At times it would take months until the pair ends up snapping, and turning on the hive or turning on each other. In the case of the twins with rainbow or in Kayda's hive it took them years. This is due to them not really being close to one another that often.

That is until they all moved to Japan, due to them being closer now it was only a matter of time until they snapped. If they were to snap Kayda will have to sever the hive link from them, to not only keep the hive safe but also to keep the other twin safe.

The reason why the twins fight is because the parasite is trying to fix itself and become one again but this only causes the twins to fight one another. Until one is dead, or both are. Is there a way to stop this? Kind of, in order for it to work one of the twins would have to be given a different strand to eliminate the existing one. Though this could be risky as it would mean it is up to the body to accept or reject the new strand. Now there is another option, that moon has been thinking and that is fully curing one of them.

Though knowing how they are, she knows some of them would probably say no, as it wouldn't feel the same for them afterwards.
