The Kingmaker - YouCanCallMeCorn
Firstly, I'd like to say that it is currently 1:26am and I stayed up to finish reading your story. This book wasn't what I was expecting at all. I've had my fair share with reading fanfictions so over time I grew to honestly hate them.
But this read was different, and I'm glad I agreed to review it.
Onto the review.
Usually when reading a story, there's often mistakes here and there, sometimes too little to even notice, but I can proudly say I don't believe you made any besides one. And if you made more, they gave no relevancy to point out because how good of a writer you are. Your writing style is very smooth. You pace your story as though you're watering and bringing to life a delicate flower.
The mistake I mentioned before would be the sudden change of names in the chapter Moonleaves. After Tetsuya rises and his friend cannot find him, you use their first names I believe. I don't know if you meant to suddenly switch to them but I know this can come off as confusing to people reading. I only brought this up because in the following chapter the names are back as they were. There is another occurrence of this I believe, in the chapter The Sound of Salvation which I believe is first in Akashi's pov and then in Ogiwara's. I think, since you've been primarily using their last names (or first names, I don't really know how that works honestly) that it'd be wise to stick with that, only to lessen future confusion.
This occurs a bit more, so I just thought to share this idea only because some people will get confused. I know who is who, so it's quite easy for me to follow, but everyone is not like me, so everyone will have a different take on it.
You have a great balance between internal dialogue, recalling facts relevant to the current interactions/situations and common dialogue between individuals.
Your story's pacing has to be one of the best I've seen in a while. I think the most enjoyable parts pace wise was Tetsuya's slow ease to accepting his feelings for Akashi and their relationship growing from their constant interactions with one another. Another great one would be Ogiwara's snap from his usual behaved/submissive ways after his brother gives himself up to Aomine. And lastly would be the slight change of Tetsuya's thoughts towards individuals aboard. To me, it seems he becomes more rude and boldly spoken. All of these changes were very fun to spot.
Interactions were great to read, and your detail telling in general is beyond this world. I can tell you try to help the readers visualize the best you can without overdoing it to the point it becomes overwhelming.
I also really like that your story just doesn't follow Tetsuya's point of view and it's constantly switching to the relevant individuals of the story as well. I truly believe some stories don't need this form, but with this story, I appreciate it to it's fullest. It really gives insight of EVERYTHING that's happening and the thoughts and feelings of those individuals as well. Like when Tetsuya often questions himself about the motives/feelings of others and then the latter's pov is presented and gives some sort of closure to the READERS.
If you hadn't told me your story was a fanfic, and had given no indication of it, I would've never known honestly. I'm happy to tell you I plan on keeping up with your book in the future. I have no advice to give, I'd say this all was just an honest review and what I truly think about your book so far.
Now, onto the rating-
Story flow/plot: I'd had to give a solid 5. You really don't fuck around when it comes to proper pacing. Nothing happens too quickly and all the pieces of the puzzle keep assembling a respectful speed.
Grammar: A 5 as well.
Dialogue: An honest 5 as well.
Creativity: 5
Overall rating: 20/20
Keep up the good work, I think you're doing great, hun.
