he drew himself in an airplane

exploring the world

he said once that he'd fly all the way around the world

until he realized the world was on fire

he told me he wanted to fly to the moon

then he realized he couldn't breath in space

he thought about joining the airforce

until he realized people die

never down at the earth

his eyes in the clouds

he saw the tower

and said he'd climb it

so he climbed

and reached the top

a cloud came over to see him

it wondered what this thing was

this thing that was waving at it

it stopped to look at him

and the boy couldn't take his eyes off of it

he was so close

so close to everything he had ever wanted

he reached out

and the cloud tried to catch him as he slipped

it wanted to lull him to sleep

it wanted to sing him a lullaby of wind and heights

it wanted to lift him away and carry him to his dreams

instead it watched him fall
