Conversations With A Cloud (Revised)
Down here, on the ground
I look way, way up
Into the bright, blue sky
Up there, in the stratosphere
I wonder what it's like,
To float so very high
To obey the wind,
And dance the daylit sky
I ask the clouds, "What do you see?"
And then they answer me:
"We see a boy, standing with his dog,
Golden brown, upside down, is his life
But happiness is still in his eyes
He tells himself to fly high, and dream big
It's a new day, and we all get to start again."
Down here, I'm so lonely
I look way, way up
Into the dark, grey sky
Up there, in the stratosphere
I wonder what it's like
To float so very high
To obey the cold
And block out all the light
I ask the clouds, "What do you see?"
And then they answer me:
"We see a man, standing all alone
Burned black, heart attack, is his life
Happiness bought a vacation home
He told himself to fly high, and dream big
But the new day was old
And his heart became oh, so cold."
Down here, I'm so worried
I look way, way up
Into the fading light
Up there, in the stratosphere
I wonder what it's like
To float so very high
To obey the sun
And wash away our time
I ask the clouds, "What do you see?"
And then they answer me:
"We see nothing."
