stupid english language
Random memes on Instagram and 11pm tired brain got me thinking (once again) about this stupid language.
Hour and our are pronounced the same.
But tour is pronounced different to hour despite one letter difference.
Tour and door are pronounced the same.
But the 'oo' in door, hood and snood are all pronounced differently.
American English and Actual English have spelling differences but are mostly pronounced the same.
Unless you have a (god forbid) Dukville accent, in which case look and hood can be pronounced like you and you is pronounced like yer and er is pronounced like air and air is pronounced like are and are is pronounced like ah.
And I'm not making this up. (Dukville is my codename for where I live btw, if I say Duckville with a c I mean my house - yes these two duks and ducks are different, yes our house is actually called Duckville, we have a sign and everything - we do not speak stereotypical British English here.)
And then we have there their and they're which is a whole other thing.
We've gotta be the only language that has exactly no rules in adjective agreement and masc and fem nouns and we can just shorten every word and people still know whatcha mean... like if you learn English fluently as a second language then you are a god because this shit is hard man, I can't speak it properly and I'm from here. Rounda applause 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I should sleep now before my brain explodes
Scratch that, I should stay up and read my book until I fall asleep 👍
Proof that I wasn't lying about the sign ^^^
