ok guys i just really need to set something straight

some of you have probably had this rant before so im sorry but it needs to be said

i see far too often people saying scottish, welsh and BRITISH accents, and as someone with relatives from each of the british countries, it is something which really annoys me

there is no british accent

britain is a collection of countries including scotland, england and wales (and no, it is not the same thing as the uk)

when you say british accent it implies youre talking about the entirety of the island, which is immediately contradicted when you also say scottish and welsh accents

maybe i could let you off if you said english accent since at least that implies only one country, but actually like NO ONE HERE TALKS LIKE THAT

only southern pansies, like maybe 10% of the population, probably less. we actually have hundreds of different regional accents, and most of us actually make fun of the posh people. if i started typing in my accent you certainly wouldnt think i was british, youd think it was another language entirely, for example

so my point is please dont call it the british accent cozza bae doin me edin :)
