compromise
As a lot of you know, I have two younger cousins, 9 and 5, who I see every Saturday. Every Saturday there is always some drama that comes with having five kids (me, my sister and my not-exactly-kid-older-cousin) and two dogs in the same tiny house.
Yesterday, my two little cousins wanted to play a game of Mums and Dads, and both of them were arguing over who gets to be the mum. No one could think of a solution to get them to stop arguing.
Then my gay hero self comes to save the day.
(Well, I'm not gay as such, but yk what I mean.)
So I take my cousins to the side and explain to them that they don't always have to have a mum and a dad - some kids have two mums or two dads. This blew their minds and they said that was really cool.
So I walk back to the older members of my family (my aunts, uncles, my dad and my grandparents) looking like a badass superhero who just quelled twenty minutes straight of arguing. No one had heard what I'd said to them, but it must've worked, because I totally just got two siblings to play peacefully, I'm clearly magical.
Queerness saves the day, once again.
