Just another funny here for you guys from another book recommended by SassyYugi, the book is called The Summer Of Seduction on Fanfiction.Net.
Enjoy.
Mahad stretched, his expression turning curious "Avec tous les adultes et les femmes responsables disparu, que devons-nous faire pendant trois heures?" (With all the responsible adults and women gone, what should we do for three hours?) he asked openly.
Seth gave him a look and kicked his chair to remind him to speak English or Arabic. Mahad suddenly favoured English, most likely for Yugi's sake. It was very thoughtful of him to include everyone in a common language.
Seth grinned with nearly all his teeth showing "Must you ask? We're obviously going to the bar," he stated with a hint of excitement.
Atem's smile turned sneaky as he finished his tea "Are you sure that's a good idea?" he drawled "Last time it got you banned for the rest of the trip," he recalled almost idly, but the intent to cause embarrassment made it obviously purposeful.
Mahad laughed loudly "So it did!"
Seth looked embarrassed, but he also had the sort of face someone got when remembering something they'd rather forget. "Damnit, I thought I'd repressed that trip," he groaned and put his head on his arms.
Mahad patted him on the back good naturedly "It wasn't so bad," he assured him.
Atem raised an eyebrow "Mother threatened to throw him out, how is that any less than bad?" he questioned incredibly.
Seth cringed again.
Mahad winced and gave up comforting Seth, there wasn't anything he could say to make it better now that fact was hanging over their heads. He shook his head at Atem to silently tell him to stop rubbing it in, Atem agreed with a soft huff.
Yugi kept glancing between them, hoping he'd be filled in along the way, but found he had to breach the topic himself "What happened?" he asked.
Seth looked alarmed and the brothers looked uneasy. Atem covered his eyes and leaned into his hand "We managed to finish a bottle of pure Russian vodka, each," he shuddered.
Yugi raised an eyebrow "I take it that didn't end well?" he deadpanned, it wasn't much compared to what Joey consumed, but then again no one had Joey's higher than average immunity to alcohol.
Mahad sighed dramatically "Correct. We somehow managed to upturn all the tables and chairs on the first floor, and used Mana's paints to draw along the halls, and threw all our Father's paperwork out of his office into the street … we were younger then," he added at Yugi's scandalous expression, shrinking under his astonished stare.
Yugi took a moment to drink that in. It was very sacrilegious to disrupt a resort as stunning as this, and then to go and ruin the paperwork … "How old?" he asked.
Mahad raised a hand and pointed at each person "Atem was eighteen, I was twenty one, Seth was twenty," he fiddled with his tea cup anxiously "Young and stupid summed us up back then. Kisara and Isis changed Seth and myself for the better, Atem's a late bloomer, but maybe his time's finally here …" he finished with a knowing smirk.
Yugi raised an eyebrow at Atem before snorting "It's not the worse drunk antics I've heard."
All three at once looked interested.
Yugi saw the questions in their eyes and quickly picked a few stories to tell them. "I have this friend, Joey Wheeler, and he's …" he searched for the right word "Enthusiastic about everything, including drinking." A laugh escaped his lips without his permission, just thinking about his funny nature brought a smile to his lips "Once Joey was left alone with two jugs of Sáke, and a bottle of vodka and he downed it all. He seemed fine for about an hour then it hit him all at once," he sniggered as he remembered Joey suddenly pitching over and calling him god, lord and other names. "He was convinced that I was god and everyone else at the party were demons or ghosts, he has a phobia of all things horror-related, and started attacking everyone with a squirting bottle of ketchup and mayonnaise. And that was just the first five minutes," he sighed.
Mahad chuckled and Seth's lips twitched into a wide smile. Atem looked amused, but he was clearly holding back laughter. Seth sat up, clearly feeling better, "Joey huh? He sounds fun, how'd he feel the night after?" he inquired.
Yugi winced slightly "He claimed he was dying," Joey was nothing if dramatic in those times.
Mahad chuckled "After that much I'd expect that. Sáke's stronger than other alcohol, right?" he questioned.
Yugi nodded "On the whole, yes. So technically you're all lightweights compared to me if I've been drinking that from a legal age," he sniggered, poking fun.
Seth raised an eyebrow "Is that a challenge Yugi?" he asked.
Yugi pretended to think about it "I believe so," he agreed fiercely.
Seth reached across the table, his longer arm nearly reaching Yugi's seat "That settles it, before we leave we've got to have a drinking game!" he lay the challenge and Yugi felt his competitive streak spark to life.
Yugi took his hand in a firm shake "Definitely!" he accepted.
Mahad nudged his cousin "Don't leave me out."
Atem smirked "Of course we're leaving you out, you're going to supervise," he told Mahad cheerfully.
Mahad wilted then growled "That's your job!" he whined, sounding like the younger sibling.
Atem sent him an evil grin "Are you willing for Isis to find out?" he asked calmly.
Mahad froze, he looked horrified at the idea of his wife finding out he'd been drinking. Most likely after the previous story Isis had expressed her disapproval. "Tu ne voudriez pas" (You wouldn't) he challenged, though his tense posture revealed how under confident he was.
Atem just smirked. "I won't have to. She'll just know."
Mahad sank into his seat until he was the same height as Yugi.
Yugi tilted his head as the exchanges kept coming. So this is what brothers do, he thought, he was a little amused and amazed at how they were acting. It reminded him a lot of how Joey acted around Serenity, and yet it was different because they were opposite genders and had been through hardships that made them extra close, so they never fought or bantered with insults or blackmail – or Joey didn't, Serenity blackmailed in her own way – hiding the Sáke, not buying Joey's ingredients …
Atem noticed that Yugi had gone off into a daydream and covered his hand to wake him up.
Yugi jumped and Atem swallowed a laugh at how adorable he could be, it made him want to pull him into his lap – he only refrained because Yugi would have probably hated it. "What's on your mind, mon amour?" he asked. Both Seth and Mahad exchanged a glance at the nickname, but Yugi was used to it so thought nothing of it and tried to organise his thoughts into words.
He looked at Seth and Mahad before speaking to Atem "I was reflecting on how brothers act," he said slightly hesitantly, he couldn't remember his exact train of thought, but that had definitely been part of it.
Mahad leaned forwards "Are you an only child Yugi?" he asked, interested.
Yugi nodded and fiddled with the table-cloth, doodling odd shapes into the flat surface. "Not exactly. I have two half-sisters, I don't know them very well. They're very young and it's hard to keep in contact with them because they live in Hong Kong and I live … er, not really anywhere right now!" he realised with another jump that made Atem jump in turn.
Mahad smiled kindly "Sisters are wonderful, you should try taking them out for ice cream or just to a park, they love that," he looked into space with a smile that was bordering on a laugh. Yugi knew then that Mahad was close to Mana because he did those things and probably a lot more, which may also explain why he acted so young; because he was used to being around Mana who was young compared to him.
Yugi nodded when Mahad met his eyes "Yeah, I'll try that," he agreed. It may be fun getting to know his half-sisters better, and it would be worth it to have a bond like the one between the Sennen siblings.
Seth raised an eyebrow "It might be a bit hard for him to visit if they live in Hong Kong and Yugi lives in … Japan, but where in Japan Yugi?" he asked.
Yugi shrugged "I guess I'll go back to Domino, it's where I was born," he wondered if Seto or his Grandpa would mind letting him stay until he could find his own place, once he got back.
Seth blinked "I heard people in Domino are crazy about gamed and are really good at them. Seto Kaiba's one of the big players, right?" he asked, interested.
Yugi chuckled, so Seth shared a love of games too, he probably knew he resembled Seto in that case. "Yeah, Seto's really into games, has his own game station the top floor of his mansion," he recalled seeing it for the first time and couldn't pick his jaw up for nearly half an hour due to the amount of rare and old games there, as well as the new ones and old card manuals; it was heaven for someone who loved games like he did.
Mahad and Seth looked surprised "Do you know him?" Seth probed.
Yugi smiled "Yes, I do."
"Whoa!" Mahad gasped "I heard he wasn't very social, how did you meet him?" he inquired.
Yugi at once tried to squash the small irritation that rose whenever someone asked about Seto, the magazines and newspapers made him seem so heartless or purely business driven. Yugi knew he was nothing like that, he was just careful and guarded. That was one of the harder parts of working in journalism, having to read a paper he helped put together and know that his company was striking blows against Seto's reputation, it wasn't fair.
But Mahad wasn't like that, he wasn't one who believed the bad things people wrote, he liked to see the good side. Yugi pushed past experience aside to answer the question.
"Well Joey's my best friend and he's Seto's dysfunctional boyfriend," he smirked as he recalled their constant bickering that they somehow seemed to thrive off. "I guess that makes me a friend too," he added, more to himself though as he shifted through their friendly rivalry that started when they both expressed their love of games and winning streaks.
Atem looked fascinated, but also cunning, he suddenly had a brilliant idea. "A friend of a Kaiba must be good at games himself, yes?" he questioned, laying the bait.
Yugi thought of the nickname Joey and Ryou used to call him 'King of Games'. "You could say that," he agreed modestly, not willing to outright say he was called something so cliché.
Seth stood up excitedly "Forget about drinking, let's go to the games room, I want to see how good this guy is at poker!" he smirked, Mahad stood too with his eyes alight. Atem silently basked in success, Seth couldn't help but boast about his feats in poker, now he'd see if Yugi could finally knock him back into his place.
Yugi stood up with an expression of challenge "Just to warn you but my friends call me King of Games for a reason," he said as he followed Seth down the steps towards the hotel, Mahad and Atem right behind them and taking bets.
Seth looked interested "I see, well we'll see if that praise is correct once you're through with me. I've played in Vegas," he boasted playfully, making Yugi laugh slightly. Vegas sounded fun, but Domino was just as cutting edge in technique and challenge just without the flashy lights and half naked showgirls.
Later Yugi was surrounded by chips while Seth had two measly piles. Yugi grinned at him "Still feeling confident, Seth?" he asked with a barely restrained laugh, he was having fun and showing off, what more could a guy ask for when out of his depth and in a strange place with strange people: a chance to show what you're made of. It really made Yugi confident, he'd been playing games his whole life, it was better than a comfort blanket!
Seth wilted at his comment, looking at his two piles of chips, it had started in his favour – the first few turns being made to test each other's abilities rather than win, but now in the final stages it wasn't going so well, his last round nearly bled him dry! He couldn't understand how Yugi managed to pull the correct cards or guess a hand better than his. He looked away from the innocent amethyst eyes muttering "I may have picked the wrong fight …"
Unfortunately everyone heard him.
Atem and Mahad laughed in the background. Atem winked at Yugi, who pretended to catch it as a good luck charm, and turned to Mahad "I'm going to win the bet," he said smugly, his eyes never leaving Yugi as he played; it was a whole other side to him. He was confident, in control, and it was clear to Atem that Yugi was playing with Seth like a cat with a mouse – Seth hadn't realised that yet. Who would have ever thought Yugi would be the cat? Seth certainly wasn't expecting to be the prey.
Atem felt another grin split his face.
Mahad shook his head "Seth's not out yet," he countered, not willing to hand over the money prematurely. Atem nodded but so half-heartedly he may as well have not bothered agreeing.
Yugi leaned forwards "I'll take three cards," he said, Seth quickly handed over three of them.
"Three for the guest," he said, Yugi picked them up and sorted with an interested expression. One that Seth couldn't read into to his intense frustration.
Seth then took one for himself.
Yugi raised an eyebrow "Just one card? What are you trying to fill in Father-to-be? A flush or a straight?" he asked, sorting his absently in his hand.
The idle chatting over strategies made up another half of the game, should you show off knowledge or hide it? Or feign it? But Seth was impressed that Yugi knew what he was up to. "The odds of either are low with just one card, but flush is the higher percentage as you know," Seth said idly, Yugi took notes and kept smirking quietly, staring him down. Seth's eyes suddenly lit up in confidence and he pushed his remaining chips into the middle "I think I'm going to go all in on this one," he said, finally straightening up as he waited for Yugi to fold or play.
Yugi pursed his lips, thinking hard. Seth wasn't bluffing, his hands were naturally steady and his eyes were fixed on his own. So he had something good, well Yugi did too. Yugi set his cards down before knocking all his chips into the middle and leaning back into his chair with a smug aura.
Atem and Mahad inched forwards, this was the final round. Seth looked slightly less sure, but confident and a touch triumphant that he had a chance at reclaiming this game.
Yugi tilted his head "So," he drawled "Flush or straight?" he asked, tapping his cards in his hand.
Seth laughed and slapped down his set "Actually I was drawing to a full house. Eights over sixes," he laid his cards out confidently.
Yugi closed his eyes and tilted his head back with a groan "I should have known … you play in Vegas," he muttered, cursing himself for not keeping that in mind.
Seth smirked and said "Better luck next time," and attempted to take all the chips, only for Yugi to catch his wrist and shake his head.
"Not so fast," he said as if scolding a child "I haven't laid all my cards yet, and I have …" he laid them proudly "Jacks over Threes."
Seth's eyes bulged "Wh- no way! You drew three cards to a full- that's like a hundred to one probability," he protested, shocked that he had lost, he couldn't believe his eyes.
Yugi shook his head "Ninety seven to one, although it seems to be lower if you're from Domino, we know all the tricks," he finished cheekily and patted Seth's arm once while he hugged all the chips to his end of the table with a victory grin.
Atem smirked as Mahad pulled out his wallet, he covered his hand and shook his head, letting his brother know it was all a game to him. All he truly wanted to see was Yugi wipe the smirk of Seth's face. Seth had been boasting for years since he lived in Vegas for a year and learnt so many tricks he was unbeatable. It was true he was even a challenge for Atem, but Yugi seemed to be the new challenge now, Atem was thankful, he didn't think he could stand it if Seth had won against Yugi too – he'd never shut up.
Yugi saw how shell shocked Seth was about losing, and realised he must have not lost in a while. He hoped that breaking his winning streak hadn't broken their building friendship. He leaned forwards and tried to catch Seth's eyes, which were stuck on his shoes. "Nice game," he conceded with a hand held out to shake, Seth had been difficult to read, but even if one had played in Vegas if you grew up in a game shop with an old game master as a Grandfather and a world champion as one of your best friends it was inevitable that the latter man would win. Yugi knew game strategies better than he knew how to ride a bike, having been playing them competitively since he could read.
Seth got over looking deflated and took Yugi's hand, it was a humbling experience, but he was not a sore loser, so swallowed his misery to get revenge through light teasing. "I bow to the King," he humoured with a small smile on his lips, appreciating the game, he actually bowed which made Yugi blush in embarrassment. Seth straightened up with a good sportsman's attitude and winked at him "I'll remember to never take you lightly again," he laughed.
Yugi laughed too and left the table for the staff to prepare for the next game, "I guess this is the one time my looks help me with anything," he said innocently, his unassuming sweetness hiding his cunning and intelligence until his opponent realised he was out of his depth.
Atem appeared at his side and wrapped an arm around his shoulders "I'm impressed, mon amour, I've never seen someone wipe the floor with Seth that thoroughly," he chuckled, enjoying his cousin's defeat more than Yugi thought necessary.
Mahad nudged Seth and looked playfully thoughtful "Who was it who said because he played in Vegas for a year he couldn't lose?" he drawled curiously. Yugi understood Atem's glee now, he wanted Seth's boasting to stop, Yugi wasn't sure how he felt about being used to settle a score between cousins, but decided to forget about it because he had fun.
Seth pushed him with a small scowl "I lost already, get over it," he complained, but both jibe and retaliation were in good humour.
Yugi grinned before holding up the Ace of Spades "Anyone else?" he asked.
Atem took the card from his hand and laid it on the table "It's time to get ready for the swim, but I'd be happy to challenge you another time," he promised. Again Yugi was aware of the second meaning and only just managed to keep a shiver at bay.
He smirked a flirted back "I hardly think you're a challenge when I know how to make you squirm," he whispered in Japanese, Atem's eyes widened and both his brother and cousin exchanged curious looks at the responses to Yugi's words, not understanding anything. Yugi walked on with a smile still left over from his victory. Atem smirked at his innocent aura, after saying such double meaning things it made Atem's posture change slightly, to predatory.
Atem's smirk was so intense Yugi sensed it with his back turned. But he ignored it in favour of chatting to Mahad as they made their ways back to the wing that was reserved for the family.
Seth saw Atem's eyes watching Yugi as if hunting him and snorted before lightly pushing him "Can you keep yourself chaste for even a day?" he asked dryly.
Atem raised an eyebrow "Can you?" he shot back "I saw the love bite under Kisara's makeup," he added, making Seth stiffen. Atem smirked before turning back to Yugi "This time it was him that instigated it," he contradicted, still stalking him.
Seth raised an eyebrow and glanced at Yugi, just in time to see him sent a secret look over his shoulder at Atem. He blinked, surprised, it seemed Atem was right and Yugi was asking for it. He chuckled and put his hands in his pockets "Well … seems you've met your match," he casually approved, he had seen Yugi's good sides, the polite ones everyone showed to strangers, instantly and had been steadily liking him more throughout the day. His competitive side, cunning, and now his flirty side that matched Atem's seemed to only improve Seth's opinion of him; if anyone could keep Atem occupied and in line it was Yugi.
Atem hummed in absent minded agreement "Oui."
Seth tutted at his lack of response and went to pick up Kisara "Hub-marid ghabi," (Love-sick idiot) he muttered as he left "See you later Yugi!" he called as he turned back on himself to find the lounge.
Yugi waved "Later."
Mahad grinned and stretched " Ah! Je peux parler en français à nouveau. Je parlais tant de anglais J'ai pensé que j'ai oublié ma mère Lingo," (Ah! I can speak French again. I spoke English so much I thought I forgot my Mother tongue) he dramatically declared.
Yugi laughed "Vous ne parlez pas beaucoup l'anglais? Mais vous parlez bien," (You don't speak much English? But you speak it well) he complimented.
Mahad bowed slightly "Merci" (Thank you) he chuckled and ran a hand through his hair "Ma chambre est ici, vous voyez plus tard, ne le gardez pas lui Atem," (My room is here, see you later, don't keep him Atem) he warned good naturedly before typing in his room code and vanishing inside.
Yugi shared a lustful look with Atem "How would you make us late?" he asked coyly, already edging towards their door.
Atem chuckled darkly, his voice sending goosebumps along Yugi's arms. He saw Yugi angling closer to their room and quickly caught and linked their fingers to keep him from escaping. He leaned in and nipped at his ear "Why don't I show you, mon amour?" he growled, one hand on his waist possessively.
Yugi responded, he leaned up and kissed Atem to curb the edge of the hunger in his eyes, the hunger quickly reflected in his own. This wasn't just lust. "Room." He said simply, his voice low and desirable. That was all he needed to say for Atem to practically drag him through their door then push him up against it, kissing him like he'd die if he didn't.
