"Percy."

I turned, the chair beneath me creaking as I looked at Kaldur. He smiled, something soft and gentle, and all too much like he thought I was made of glass. His hand closed around my book, and I let him take it from me.

"This looks like a very good book," he said, glancing at the title. He sat across from me, leaning forward; his arms rested on his legs, his pale eyes fixated on me. I didn't know why he was so intent on staring at me, nor was I sure why he was acting like I was any further in the book than the first page. "Do you mind if I check your arm?"

I tilted my head, but nodded. Kaldur sighed, all tension leaving his shoulders. He mumbled a thank you and moved to kneel in front of me. With immense care, he pulled my previously injured arm towards him; smooth fingers trailed over my skin. Occasionally, he would press down. His eyes scanned my face, growing more and more confused with each passing second.

"This does not make sense," he mumbled. "There is no way you should be fully healed."

Oh, well, it probably would've been a good idea to at least pretend I was still injured. It was too late now, unless I broke my silence. I chewed the inside of my lip before grabbing Kaldur, moving over, and pulling him to sit beside me.

"P-Percy, I do not think that this is appropriate." Flustered, he struggled to pull away, but I held firm. I tapped the book cover. "Huh?" At his confused reaction, I tapped the book again, firmer this time. "Do you wish for me to read this?"

I nodded, and he opened the book. As he read the book aloud, I curled into his side. He stumbled here and there, but nowhere near as much as I would have reading through it. Who thought it would be a good idea to put cursive in books? Multiple times? Kaldur didn't seem to mind my odd behavior, even lifting his arm to drape over me.

The door slid open. I didn't move my gaze from the book, but still tensed with the heightened static in the room. She's not going to let this go. Please don't let-Click. And she has a camera.

"May I ask why you just took a picture of us?" Kaldur asked, thumb resting in the crook of the pages.

"I try to keep blackmail on her at all times. What are you doing?"

"Percy asked for me to read this. Though...I am not sure why."

"She's dyslexic." Diana waved a hand. "Probably didn't want to get a headache from it. May I?" She took the book from Kaldur and flipped through it, before hissing. "Yeah, I can see why she had you read this. She has a hard time with cursive." She handed the sky blue book back. "Well, have fun. I'm gonna go bug her dad and see if he'll come bug her."

"What- And she is gone." Kaldur sighed. His fingers tapped against my arm as he flipped through the book, trying to find where he had left off. Because of course Diana couldn't have handed the book back without losing the page, no that would've been too easy. "Do you mind if we were to finish this at a later time? I came in here to collect a book I needed for a mission report."

Nodding, I slipped away. My feet carried me out of the library and throughout the Cave. I don't know how long I wandered, or where I was going. i was walking just to walk, with no destination in mind. That being said, I passed through the living room enough times to see every step in Megan's baking process: one of them involved Connor getting covered in flour.

"Hey, wanna watch a movie with us?" Wally asked. Half of his body dangled off the back of the couch, and a carefully timed push from Robin sent him tumbling. "Dude!"

I grinned but shook my head, continuing my walk. I didn't recognize what was on screen, and the movie was already halfway through. No use joining and being confused the whole time. My endless circles came to an abrupt halt when I saw Kaldur's door standing open. Frowning, I walked in.

Kaldur laid on his bed, palms pressed into his eyes. A book lay open on his desk, surrounded by scattered papers. I rapped my knuckles on the doorframe. He startled upright. Apology after apology fell from his lips, all before he had even realized who I was. Once he did, he rubbed the back of his neck. "Did you need something Percy?"

I shook my head, looking down at his work. Atlantean script covered most of it, along with rough English translations. Soft quiet footsteps and then the papers were being gathered up and bound with a binder clip. Kaldur didn't ask anything more, pulling the chair out for me before returning to sit on his bed. He stared at me, eyes focused and questioning, trying to figure something out.

"Why- Why me?" He asked. "There are plenty of people you could sit with, but why do you prefer me?"

I really didn't have an answer. Not for him at least. There was probably something with him being an Atlantean and being unable to hurt me, but I couldn't tell him that. Even if I was talking, I didn't want him to know.  If he finds out what I am, all of the anonymity I have and enjoy here, it would be gone.

So in the end, I shrugged.

What's the worst an answer like that could cause? Especially when its the only one I could give that makes sense.

I need to do Latin, but do you guys have any ideas?

See yah
