31. never
2nd POV
"Oh my fu- Yuna stop it!"
Frantically fumbling to properly close and lock the door, you zoomed to the girl who was watching cartoons while tightening her tie on her neck. She was paling, not breathing until you slapped her hands away and took the tie off of her.
The midnight wheezed as her pink colored eyes rolled from the floor to you.
She smiled, "Oh hey! Why are you back so fast? I don't have class until 3PM that's why I'm staying here to relax."
An irk popped from the side of your temple. As every day progresses, the more your chill personality turns to stress and panicky just because whenever you would appear where she's at- you would always catch her either restricting her own air, posing sharp tools on her neck, and standing on the edge of the top of the buildings.
Yet she always remained calm whenever you would stop her, smiling and conversing normally as if she was not doing something wrong.
"You have to stop doing these kind of things," You sighed and properly let her wear the tie, "It's not funny."
She just blinked and turned the TV off with a remote, "It's habitual. Anyways, why did you come back? I thought you were meeting with um.."
Her head tilted to the side as she crossed her leg over the other, "What was your man's name again? Asta?"
You frowned, "Atsumu. I didn't get to meet up with him because the gym was closed but I can hear them playing from outside."
"Hmm," She lowly hummed and sighed before getting up, "Eh, it happens. Even I don't get to meet with 'Yomi. Maybe they're just busy with training and stuff."
"Yeah...," A small frown stayed on your lips before it contorted to a teasy grin, "About that. Since when did you know him?"
The girl stopped fixing her blouse and skirt, "Him? Do you mean your cousin?"
You nodded and sat on the couch.
She stretched, "Mm well, during my 3rd year managing at some powerhouse school, I remember his team playing against mine. I noticed him having weird stuff in his bag when it ended- later on he told me it was a roll to clean off the light dirt from his clothes and he'd carry it around. Then you know, I just started hanging out with him after that because I thought he was interesting," The girl smiled before jolting in shock and looking away from your teasing gaze, "But it's not like I like him or anything so...-"
"Hm?" You teasingly hummed before standing up. Whatever you say I guess. I'll just go on and visit them again."
"Mm," Yuna nodded before picking her phone up, "I'll just stop relaxing and go buy 'Yomi some snacks. But before that I have to meet up with my brother. I'll probably return quick though."
"Alright, have fun," You waved at her as she left.
First you took the cold cookies you had bought yesterday. You allowed it to slightly warm up as you combed your hair properly infront of a mirror. When you were sure you looked decent, you grabbed it and left the dorm after locking it with a key.
The way to gym was slightly far. But other than mildly hating on walking a long distance- you hated the stares you often get.
You also missed the times when Suna was always by your side everytime you both walked down the hallways to eat somewhere with the twins. Sadly he didn't get to be in college with you and the two, he had to move to another prefecture because he was sent an invitation.
Lately though... Bokuto was still sending texts albeit the scene you had executed with Akaashi two and a half years ago.
It took you long and slowly, to realize he was persistent no matter what.
Thinking back to the stupid method you did- all you could do was laugh in disbelief.
You planned on meeting up with him to apologize and explain clearly- only if you had free time in the future.
Back to the journey, you heard the background squeaks of the shoes against the floor from outside. You just sighed and looked at the box of cookies on your hands. A sad, small pout adorned your lips as you looked back at the gym doors.
He's really busy.. well not that I blame him. It's okay- he'll have time for me soon. I need to support him with his priorities. It would be selfish of me to think like this.
You were about to walk away.
To be truthful, you wished you'd have left earlier.
But you also couldn't.
You couldn't move.
Your breath halted.
All because you heard a girl's laughter along with a laugh you adore so much.
A slow pit of strange feelings started to pool on your stomach as you slowly looked back at the gym doors. Inaudible conversation rallying from an unfamiliar girl's voice to your boy.
He can't... no no. It's impossible.
...Or is it?
Static jealousy and sadness made its way to your chest and blossomed hard. Your hands slightly tremble and you began overthinking at such a small thing.
That means nothing. Atsumu would never do something like that..
Gulping, you took out your phone and opened your contacts. His name glowed 'Mine ♡' and your thumb hovered on it.
It won't hurt. It barely won't affect anything. Just try..
You clicked on it and typed. Roughly taking a minute to process a decent message, you pressed send.
Even though you were overthinking and feeling strange, you forced yourself to leave and go back to your dorm to prepare for your next class.
The dorm was kind of quiet when you came back. You opened the door to your room only to realize it was unlocked. There you saw Yuna busy with organizing snacks, she looked up when she noticed you opening and closing the door behind you.
"Why the long face?"
You just shrugged and plopped down on the sofa before placing the box of cookies down on the table as your roommate fixed some snacks in a cute, pale yellow box.
An inaudible sigh escaped your lips, "Nothing... I'm just overthinking stuff, I guess."
She stopped what she was doing, a mochi covering her mouth. The girl swallowed it whole and felt disappointed when she didn't choke, but she turned her whole focus on you.
"Do you mind if I asked what are those stuff?" Yuna asked, shifting on her virasana seat as her skirt slightly lifted due to the movement.
A frown faded in, on your mouth.
"I don't want to sound overreacting," You twiddled with your thumbs and looked down, "But I just heard a girl laugh with Atsumu inside their gym. It scattered my thoughts and got me thinking impossible things."
The girl hummed before standing up, picking the plate of mochis from the table and handing it to you.
"I won't say it's alright because I'm no in position to. I won't reassure you either because it would be hard for you- but then again I'm not in your shoes to fully understand and say something that might ease your tension. All I can say is, give him time. And when it comes, carefully ask him what was it all about if it still troubled you that much."
She leaned back on the sofa and ate a mochi while waiting for you to respond.
You sighed and bit a small portion of the mochi.
"That surprisingly made sense and also didn't at the same time. But I understood the brief and somewhat got a little bit calmer because of that. Maybe he really just needs time. I'll give him enough and as long as he wants. As long as he's happy and focusing on his priorities...," You gave a small grin mixed with slight sadness.
Feeling down about it is pointless. It was with your will to let it happen, anyway. But you still can't help but feel a little disappointed- not at him and his actions, but at you.
Yuna's pink gaze rested on you before she sighed and stood up, "Hey now, I might not feel what you're experiencing right now so I can't really tell you to do stuff that can lessen your worry, but if it helps- I'll ask 'Yomi about some stuff that may help you, okay? Mainly schedule and whatnot."
Your head shot up.
"Are you sure?? I don't think... I respect and trust him. I don't really think it's necessary..," You trailed off.
She sighed and picked the wrapped box up.
"You say that but didn't you just feel worried earlier?" The girl poked your cheek before she walks to the door, "It'll be okay. It's not like getting a bit of information will hurt. I'll also text you about their state when I get there. The cookies, I'll give him that. It's their break when your class starts, right?"
You just nodded as she walked back to claim the box. She waved goodbye at you before disappearing to go to the gym, schedule free for their breaktime while you still have another class soon.
A text.. it would be good enough, as long as I know you're fine while I'm not there.
•
To say you were anxious until the end of classes would be an understatement.
Returning to the dorm was at least fine since you saw Yuna binging on shows instead of seeing her doing stuff that are harmful for her.
But the nervousness didn't stop even though you relaxed for a bit on your bed.
You got up to do your assignments, checking your phone every 10 minutes. Your body was slightly tense even though you just took a rest earlier.
Please reply when you can... at this time you finished your classes already. A text is enough before you do other stuff and eventually rest.
Worry was still coating your mind as few hours passed.
Atsumu never failed to send a text every morning, after noon, and evening.
Even if he was squeezing free time just to text you- he rarely doesn't reply to your texts. He barely does. He never has.
Strange.
.
..
...
He never texted until the next morning you wake up.
