Stories Of Mine I Hate.
My phone wouldn't let me copy&paste the comment so I had to screenshot - I'm sorry! 😅
What advice would I give to somebody who has only started writing fanfictin?
-I would urge you not to be too scared to make mistakes at first; you'll kick yourself when you look back at them in future, we all do, but the fact that you see the mistakes and know how to fix them means that you're improving as a writer so don't be too afraid of messing up from time to time.
-Do plenty of paragraph writing, my sister was the one who made me start going this and she said it makes the story much easier to follow, doesn't get you lost so much and doesn't look as messy so, always write in paragraphs. They're a blessing.💕
-Don't be scared of criticism, I know it's always a scary thought that someone will hate your work and start bashing on it but I assure you, that rarely happens on this site. When people do give criticism, it's usually put across calmly and respectably so always read into their concerns and see if you can improve what they're complaining about - of course, if they're mistaken and you haven't done anything wrong then let them know in a calm and relaxed manner but I assure you, there's nothing to fear.❤️
-And don't be afraid to take a chance.
If you're writing a story about Drake and you don't know his backstory then you could just have him avoid mentioning it, he could be secretive. But if you're doing an AU and the canon facts don't really matter then go ahead, take a leap and tie in what you do know from the canon to make up a little backstory.
Like; his father was abusive toward him because Drake's mother died giving birth and Diez Barrels always resented his son for that.
It might not be true and will probably be debunked when Oda shares more about Drake but imagine how hyped you'd feel if you turned out to be right? 😂 Besides, your readers will often be interested by a little backstory, everybody likes a little bit of character development to be noted in stories.💕
Some mistakes I've noticed when reading FF and my own mistakes?
-I usually notice that people get "your" and "you're" mixed up a lot which sorta throws me off for a millisecond when I'm reading, but I've also made that mistake myself so I can't judge anyone else for it. 😂
-I've made mistakes where I would be misinformed about something and write it into stories, making me look and feel totally stupid when I found out facts. 😅
For example; in 'Envy Green' a Zoro x Reader fic I did, I was so behind that Buggy seemed more of a threat at the time so I had him play a villain role and it has had people sorta like "BUGGY? REALLY?" and I'm...I get mortified everytime. 😂😂🤦🏻♀️
I know now that I might've messed up a little there.
Please, if you haven't read the story already, then don't do so now. It's a trainwreck. 😂
I've written Eustass Kid with eyebrows before, I didn't realize he doesn't have any beforehand and I've been corrected HUNDREDS of times, I still get comments like "He doesn't have eyebrows" and I'm just...I'm sorry, I didn't pay attention at the time, okay! 😂😂🙈
I've also written Law's eyes to be grey MANY times, only to find out that they're actually golden brown. (Anime's fault might I add lmao.)
So yeah, doing a bit of research on the people you're writing about definitely goes a long way. 😅😂
-Another mistake I still make a lot and kick myself for EVERY time is endings. By the time I reach the ending of a book, I've been working on it all day/night and I'm exhausted so I will write the ending and think it looks decent, publish it and go to bed. Then when I read it a few days later, I'm sat there like; "It looks rushed as fuck, what the hell?!"
So yes, I'd definitely advise you not to write when you're drained/sleepy.
(this is probably the most hypocritical thing I've ever written.)
That's everything I can think of right now, I hope it helps and that you guys liked reading this!
Thank you for your time and I love you all dearly, have a great day/night everyone!😁💕
